About This File

KOSC Presents: Industrial Revolution Mod - Logistic Filler Set 1

Introduction

This is a set of ploppable filler lots for dirty, manufacturing, and hi-tech industry which are designed to add some logistic support to your industrial areas. The set was designed with IRM in mind and as such, utilizes matching bases and walls from that of the original releases.

Package Overview

This package contains a set of 15 filler lots: 5 for dirty, manufacturing and hi-tech industrial areas. All the lots have props that are highly randomized. Parked trailers and semi cabs will show up in many different sizes and forms and sometimes not even at all.

Lot stats are designed to match the original IRM fillers as closely as possible. This includes positioning indicators to help you align the lots with respect to other things around it. Every lot is nearly neutral, with negligible amounts of pollution, no power/water consumption and are maintenance free. All lots are $5 to bulldoze and are extremely cheap to plop ($5 for I-D, $6 for I-M, $7 for I-HT).

The lots are located in the landmarks menu and clumped together with the original filler sets.

Install Instructions

Drop the files in your My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder.

Dependencies

Use with the Industrial Revolution Mod and the associated filler sets is highly recommended. If you have the dependencies for those sets, you only need the following.

Standalone users will also need the following.

Props

Textures

Credit goes to T Wrecks for the original Industrial Revolution Mod, which served as a template for the lot design of this set, and MushyMushy for the trucks which were the driving forces behind the conception of this set.

Enjoy!

This will surely bring another dimension to the IRM! I think the lots look very balanced, not too fancy and not too gritty. Textures are superb as always. In terms of usefulness, this is one of the best uploads in a long time.

These will be very useful indeed - industrial complexes should have loads of trucks! Great lots as ever.

For those who like to place fences around industrial facilities, this is one of the best sets I've seen!  I'm digging the modularity!  *:D  Even a medium-sized city can have one or two large complexes with acres of trucks.

If you use the IRM filler lots already, you are crazy if you don't download this. Such additions are really wonderful and useful for any mayor who cares about making either beautiful (or 'realisticly ugly') cities. Thanks for the hard work!

      1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

Ok, as the conclusion of this IRM upload series draws closer, we get to the somewhat more interesting lotting projects...
The 39th and next-to-last upload in this series, Nova Energetics by HunD88, suggested itself for a combination with a well-known Maxis high-tech industry buildings because it was so similar in colour that I simply had to try creating what would hopefully look like one coherent complex. As you can see on the screenshots, I made two standalone lots as well as four complex lots with the main building and either one or two outbuildings.
I remember lotting this one was fun, and I tried to make the lots very individual in character. The big 5x5, for example, features a stone wall topped with a chainlink fence around the outbuildings and has a certain "high-security-do-not-enter" vibe to it - we can imagine that the blue thingamabobs are some dangerous high-voltage switchgear stuff. Other lots are much more open, and feature various characteristics (trucks, cargo crates, propane tanks, parking lots, footpaths, fences) to varying degrees. I hope you'll like at least some of them and they won't look too repetitive. Needless to say, prop families were also used extensively once again to offer the best variation possible.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.
The .sc4desc files for the regular version will look like this: IRM_[Filename].sc4desc
The .sc4desc files for the quadrupler version will look like this: IRM_[Filename]_x4.sc4desc
After downloading, simply delete the file of the version you don't want to use. If you leave both in your plugins, the quadrupler version will most probably override the default version.
The default version of the building will provide 50/70/90 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 200/280/360 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
3x4, Stage 2 (Nova Energetics 1) 5x3, Stage 2 (Nova Energetics 1) 4x5, Stage 3 (Nova Energetics 2) 5x4, Stage 3 (Nova Energetics 2) 5x5, Stage 3 (Nova Energetics 3) 6x5, Stage 3 (Nova Energetics 3) For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):
Maxis Night with gradual day/night cycle: YES Maxis Night with static day or night: YES DarkNite* with static day or night: YES *DarkNite requires SimFox' Day and Nite Modd (or a similar darkening mod) to be installed in your plugins.

      2 - USE

If you extract this archive to your root plugins folder, it should create a folder IRM\IRM Expansion\[NAME OF BAT], where [NAME OF BAT] represents the name of this download item. Within that folder, you will find all the game-relevant files and a sub-folder containing the HTML readme and some screenshot(s).

If you no longer wish to use this download, proceed as follows:
Bulldoze all lots pertaining to this download Save all the cities and exit the game when you're done bulldozing Remove the associated files from your plugins folder Hint: Just to be sure, I recommend moving the undesired files somewhere else and doing some checks before you delete them permanently. This way, if it turns out you forgot to bulldoze something, you can add it back in temporarily until you're done.

      3 - DEPENDENCIES

IRM Base Pack with all its dependencies - while these lots will technically work, they are meant to tie into the IRM. They may look out of place and show unexpected behaviour if used independently. Since this is an extension to the IRM, all the dependencies of the original pack still apply. If you have them in place, you can download every single growable IRM and IRM W2W lot I have ever made and will never have to download any additional packs for props and textures used on the lot. Nova Energetics - you'll also need the original upload of the BAT to see the building(s). Only the .sc4model file is required. NOTE: For any dependency hosted at SC4Devotion (SC4D in short), you must be registered on that site and logged into the site's download area, the BSC File Exchange, in order to see the download button. Please bear in mind that there are separate logins for the forums and for the file exchange. For those of you who may still be unfamiliar with the site: SC4D is another major SimCity community with lots of unique content, so you will not regret making an account there.

      I'm totally confused!
I thought that when you create a lot that the info that is in the sc4desc file is saved in the exemplar file of the lot. So in essence the sc4desc file would be useless after the lot was finished.
But now it seems it may not be useless at all, I see that file in many uploads here and today I actually saw a comment from a lotter that the sc4desc was a required file!
Can someone straighten me out is the sc4desc file useless after the lot is saved is is it a required file to include with the lot when you upload it and install it in the game?
The reason I ask is that I've been blowing away the sc4desc file whenever I run into it, if it is actually required then I need to stop doing that before I get myself in trouble.
      TIA
      Dazed and Confused!

      Tariel-Villavicencio Chateau-Beynac Grand Cru 7x6 Grow
I like good wine (that’s “Grand Cru” meaning in French). So here’s a vineyard, relotted from Villavicencio’s creation.
The lot is IR stage 2 (agro-industry) and Grow only [cheat lotplop to the rescue !].  It can be extended with more vineywards on two sides at your leisure.
You can check Villavicencio’s content on the STEX.
A list of deps is in the folder (updated from the original !)
Many thanks to my technical gurus, Rsc204, Kosc and Dreadnought. And especially Rivit, who lighted my SC4world and is always generously ready to help. And the guys and gals on the forums (Twalsh, Matias93, Fantozzi, Catty-cb, Corinamarie…). We need help when we begin peeking under the hood of SC4. That the community is always there for us noobies is a constant and pleasant reassurance. General warnings :
      General warnings :
      (1) This is for SC4 Rush Hour.
      (2) I play with NAM36, RRW-EU selection (it shouldn’t interfere here, but you never know !)
      (3) I also play with Twrecks Maxis HD Tree Replacement (if you don’t use it, your trees might look a bit different ; perhaps you should use it,,,)
       (4) I play Nights. Hence the included RVT zNightLighting. Depending on your using or not a Light Replacement Mod, the lighting will be slightly different, but There Will Be Light. If you don’t want it, you can either tweak my lights in the Lot Editor or get rid of them entirely.
      (5) I like trees. I make intensive use of trees. Especially Girafe tree collection on the LEX ; so here’s a link, once for all ; just follow it into the woods.
