About This File

Grand Central Chicago Station, by Mattb325.
---------------------------------------

Grand Central Station was a passenger railroad terminal in downtown Chicago, Illinois, from 1890 to 1969. It was used as the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad terminus from 1910 until its demolition in 1971.

This elegant building was built from brick, brownstone and granite. It has imposing arches, crenellations and many towers along the street façades. Of course, the most notable feature is the corner bell and clock tower.

In game, this building is a medium-large sized railway terminus: in real-life, this was in fact the smallest of all of Chicago's rail terminals.

This building also provides 297 Jobs (mostly low and medium wealth).

When placing the rail terminus draw the tracks right inside the building to activate it.

If you are looking for more rail termini, don't forget to check my other rail terminals on the SC4 Devotion LEX (https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2981)

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:

This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite.
You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot File!

If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. Either: (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) OR (http://gizmo.aplaceforwebsite.com/index.php)

Thanks, and enjoy!

Released

04.06.2026

  • Restored after the site crash

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 30.04.2025:

--------------------------------------------

  • All transportation lots have been updated to NAM/MTA standards
  • Submenu Support
  • The updated version here is the same that you can find in the SC4D LEX Legacy - Mattb325 Transportation Collection Maxis and Darknite uploads on SC4Evermore.

Update 30/1/16:

---------------------------------------------

1) an issue has been reported with a rendering error of the Maxis Nite Version not sitting correctly on the lot (as well the render was missing the left hand chimney). The Maxis Nite Version has been re-rendered. The Dark Nite version was not affected and remains unchanged. If you have downloaded the Maxis Nite version, I suggest you bulldoze and plopped buildings and replace it with this version.

2) an issue where the station capacity does not match the catalogue capacity. The catalogue capacity is not used by the simulator, but it is best practice to have the two numbers match. While it is not necessary to re-download the file to fix this issue, if you are concerned about side effects, I would recommend bulldozing any plopped buildings and replacing with this file.

In both cases, you can simply allow the files to be overwritten when adding them to your plugins as all TGI fields are the same.

Thanks to Andreas for picking up these errors

Update 25/5/20. Due to recent MAC 64 Bit compatibility issues across a number of train stations, I have changed the rep count on the TSEC line (the capacity was fine). If you are a Mac user, please re-download the file.

---------------------------------------------

Update 11/6/21. At some point in one of the updates, I have accidentally picked up the test lot file and uploaded it. These test lots have only the most basic functionality. So, if, at some point over the last five or so years, after placing this station you feel that the sims aren't really using it as much as they should, or even not at all, it is because I included the wrong lot file. DOH!!!!!.:dead:

That has now been fixed.

Please RE-DOWNLOAD the file and over-write the lot file. Demolish any instances of the station in your cities prior to doing this and then re-plop: you will have a super-busy fully functioning station....
