So cool. The nightlighting is especially beautiful

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about their BATs and texturing. I found this website browsing through old BAT threads that might help with seamlessly tiling textures: https://www.imgonline.com.ua/eng/make-seamless-texture.php Also, I've had decent results with expanding a texture using Photoshop's generative expand feature. You would need to update PS to at least the 2024 version though.

Hi everyone. I'm using PIM-X for some tree models, and was wondering what are the differences between the descriptor choices "Flora", "Flora Prop", and "Tree Prop"? Thanks

An ingenious idea. You really nailed the LA vibe with these.

  9. GM Works in Progress

Coming along nicely! I don't think there are enough slope tolerant buildings, so adding foundations to these would be most welcomed

I think everything looks great. Your texturing rivals some of the best that I've seen. And overall, your BATs capture the charm and colors of the original art design really well. The details on the roof of the apartments are stunning. But just to nitpick, I think you could decrease the amount of roofjunk by maybe 10-20%. Due to the game's view, the roof gets a lot of attention naturally, and having that much roofjunk puts even more visual weight on the roof, therefore drawing attention away from the building's walls. I feel like the schools are perfect as is. I'm finding in my own BATing journey that details are what elevates a BAT, but for roofs in particular, it's a spot where taking artistic license instead of modeling everything as realistically as possible leads to a more aesthetically pleasing BAT. Right now you've got a really good balance. The other details in your BAT are excellent, I especially like the art on the outside walls, they remind me of the school I would walk by on my way to work when I was living in Taiwan. Can't wait for you to release these!

    Looking really good!
  13. Show us What you're Working On

Give it a shot, it's fun The BAT software is free and you can find the download link here on Simtropolis. You can also use Blender now, it's open source and an incredibly powerful tool. The learning curve for 3d modeling is steep, but there's a huge amount of tutorials aimed at complete beginners. I'm still a novice but I think it's safe to say that 20% of the tools will get you 80% of the results (the Sega building is mostly boxes with some other basic shapes here and there). I started BATing because I also wanted to see buildings that I liked be added to my cities. If you're really interested I could share some of the resources I found to be most helpful, lmk!
