  1. I would like 12x12 filler RICO of all densities (ranging from rural to R5) in each of the 3 wealth levels. By filler, I mean entire subdivisions, warehouses, malls, offices, apartments, etc that count as 1 building each on a 12x12 lot with moderately low polygon counts.
  2. Time To Take Another Look At NewCity

I really need to play NewCity again. My current obsession is Anno 1800 but I remember how fun NewCity was even during its early access.
  3. The Electro Suite by Hans Zimmer from Spider Man 2 is powerful. It makes me feel something when listening.
  4. World Affairs

    1. Russia and Belarus are culturally similar and have a military alliance. Most of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces is conducted through Belarus, via soviet railways. 2. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and is majority Ukrainian. Russia is bombing it. Russian-speaking Ukrainians are among those fleeing to the EU. Russia is conscripting all able bodied men they can and taking women and children hostage to do so. Russia arrests all protestors (peaceful and otherwise) of the invasion. Putin is former KGB; he's not protecting any civilians. In fact, his forces bombed a children's hospital in Ukraine and killed at least 17. 3. This point might be true. I'm not going to dispute it. 4. You really don't sound Austrian in your blind support for Russia; however, the fact that you are able to type and have not been conscripted is proof enough for me. W/E. Russian Troll farms have already brainwashed a sizeable portion of American conservatives. It's no big stretch to see that they swayed Europeans too. At least social media has become much quieter and more civil since said Russian Trolls were conscripted. Anyway, everywhere has culture. I once read about German scientists who lamented that their city wasn't bombed by the Allies because they wanted shiny new laboratories in the rebuilt and modernized cities. (To be fair, the response by a senior scientist was along the lines of "it doesn't matter what cage the bird is in") 5. I do not trust American Mass Media but I trust to get more truth out of competing companies than out of state run media. I trust independent press in the EU and US infinitely more than any state run media source. Russia shut down all private media and now only runs state run media. This should set off several red flags. If Russia enacts a firewall, like the CCP has already, no one should trust them. Now, the most reliable source of truthful information in this situation is cellphone videos, corroborated with the free press and US intelligence. 6. To the surprise of everyone, the US intelligence agencies have been leaking all the info they gather on Russia so now the world knows what Russia is doing. Normally, much of this would be secrets, propaganda, and outright lies. Satellite footage, recordings from unsecured channels used by Russian military operations, seemingly everything. This level of transparency is unprecedented. 7. Dictators are generally bad for countries, and subsequent ones are worse still. 8. Off topic flame bait 9. Ukraine is the victim in this situation.
  5. World Affairs

If Russian forces cross the borders into any NATO country, Russia will cease to exist within a day afterwards. Many will die.
  6. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I had Moderna. I think I will do Pfizer for my booster.
  7. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I'm double vaccinated and not yet due for a booster but I won't get a booster if there are any widespread variants it doesn't protect against. My second dose gave me a fever for multiple days and my mother had an even worse reaction. I would rather go back to isolation than go through what she went through. However, if there is a booster that is effective for Delta through Omicron, I might get it when the time comes.
  8. Skyscraper City in Minecraft 1.17

I’m making a city in Minecraft 1.17 inspired by Hugh Ferriss’s Metropolis of Tomorrow. I took some liberties and made it a square (120x120 zones, 48 wide avenues, 7x7 city blocks) grid. https://imgur.com/a/abfiaQQ City Hall is based off SimCity 4’s unused Large City Hall, with SimCity 2013’s coloration. The Science Skyscraper is based off Le Corbusier’s Towers in the Park but with the park on top of a podium, and an added central tower. The Industry Skyscraper was modified from a 1:1 scale model of the Empire State Building, with some floors removed and the podium redone. The Art Hotel is based off SimCity 4’s Long Building but extended into a symmetric 116x116 structure with 2 internal court yards. The Art Skyscraper will be Neo Gothic, perhaps inspired by the Tribune Tower or Woolworth Building. The Science Lofts will be based off an illustration by Hugh Ferriss. I’m not sure about the Industrial Arts Condominium (maybe Bauhaus, maybe Art Deco, maybe something else) but the Industrial Science’s Apartments will be based off Le Corbusier’s Cellular Apartments.
  9. Skyscraper City in Minecraft 1.17

I fixed up the city a bit and built a couple more buildings so I made a new album https://imgur.com/a/nZtLoch
  10. https://nyti.ms/2Fgdcdp Many tech companies are building campuses near research universities far away from California. It’s no surprise to me because San Francisco has the highest rents in the world and California is prone to natural disasters. Besides economics and weather, the Midwest has more innovation, a lot of unused infrastructure and more moderate and diverse politics. For anyone besides a diehard progressive liberal, San Francisco can look like Hell. Even Amazon is expanding into the Midwest despite Seattle and Bellevue having more construction, lower prices, and better transportation than San Francisco and LA. Just to be clear, NY Times has a soft paywall.
  11. Wow! I didn’t even know about this until just now! How has the progress been!?
  12. Windows 11 discussion thread

Windows Vista was worse than 7. I won't upgrade to 11 if I can help it. I might upgrade to linux in a few years.
  13. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

That 2nd dose gave my mother and I fevers and nausea for 3.5 days and my mother still has inflammation around her injection site. I had difficulty breathing for a few hours on Saturday.
  14. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I'm getting my 2nd Moderna dose tomorrow. I look forward to a return to normalcy and fun.
  15. Suez's Epicly Blocked by Ever Given

Last I heard, the Egyptian government first tried to blame this on their only female captain (who was nowhere near the canal at the time) then decided to hold the boat as collateral for the damages.
  16. Not possible. You could export the terrain height map and every individual building but rebuilding the city from the individual parts would be tedious.
  17. Hmm... I don't know why they would look yellow except for the filter/FAR used. You're not using the asset editor in "tropical" are you?
  18. Did you make the full-size model and LOD model? Which textures did you make?
  19. Apparently, there is a solution to San Francisco's housing crisis besides upzoning historic neighborhoods. I just learned that most shipping has moved to the east bay, leaving San Francisco's industrial ports (its entire southeast area) underutilized. If these ports are not completely eliminated, then they can at least be concentrated in Hunter's Point, leaving everywhere north of there ripe for redevelopment just like Miami Beach's new luxury highrise residential district.
  20. The Obituaries Thread

Over a hundred thousand victims of SARS CoV2 in the USA alone.
  21. Back in Cities Sklyines because of DLC

If the supposed leak in December is to be believed, the maps will be truly regional. Colossal indeed! (The working title for Cities: Skylines was Colossal Cities)
  22. Cities Skylines adds yards to smaller buildings. It does not remove portions from bigger buildings.
  23. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

LOL! I cannot dignify this misinformation with a proper response so I will have to mock you! Donald Trump is worse than Joe Biden in every single way in which you mentioned. Projecting much? There are vaccines and antivirals for SARS and MERS which are coronaviruses. Influenza is NOT a coronavirus. Mild colds are typically caused by Rhinoviruses and Adenoviruses. The WWII bombings do not count as genocide, even percentage-wise. War crimes by today's standards, yes. OK, boomer. Have a terrible day!
  24. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/13/asia/china-guangzhou-african-blacklash-hnk-intl/index.html Just plain evil. They are making life miserable for foreigners who haven’t even traveled. This is after saddling most African nations in debt traps. The way the CCP quarantines people is so unethical, it violates several international laws. At least the US government has checks and balances as well as elections. Sure the Trump administration is corrupt and incompetent but they cannot sink to the lows of the CCP because we won’t let them. Reopening the entire US economy at once before a reliable vaccine or antiviral is available will guarantee deaths. However, we haven’t committed genocide in over a century. Hopefully, the Democrats in the federal government can stop Trump, otherwise we’ll have to rely on local governments and some local governments can be trusted less than Trump.
  25. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Seattle Metropolitan Area is the worst hit out of the USA and our local governments have enacted drastic measures to help. I'm sure we will be fine. My mother and I managed to convince Grandma to stay inside to quarantine herself away from potential infections.
