  6. Building Styles Master IID This is the official thread for getting an IID Range for additional building styles. In total there are 4096 possible styles that have been distributed like this 4 official styles which are the Maxis Style 60 Styles that are reserved for community styles 4032 publicly available styles in which everyone can use the styles Currently only the Range 0x00002000 - 0x00002FFF is available which hopefully should be enough in case there is a saturation of the range it could be expanded by including another empty range. To fully view the various ranges available you can do so here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lG7vdgh-eAG3McqOL1GdPGgoEjg1V4jQJuVEqKuVCaM/edit?usp=sharing How to get an IID Range? Range contains 16 styles to be developed so a person will have a minimum of 16 public styles and 16 private styles but will be able to get additional 16 additional styles reaching a maximum of 32 public styles and 32 private styles. To get an IID range to generate the styles of the additional buildings we need to compile this module so that we can optimally handle the requests. User: Write your Simtropolis username Numbers of Styles: Specify the number of IIDs indicating where to go to allocate them. Automatically get 32 public styles. Below is an example of the module User: Ulisse Wolf Numbers of Styles: 32 If your module is found to be correct we proceed to assign your range. When you have a definite idea of the styles you must communicate to me through on this thread IID of the style and a brief description of the style. Below you can see a brief demonstration and in the sheet is an initial technical demo 0x00002004 - Cyberpunk - Building style dedicated to all futuristic buildings with dystopian and neon elements 0x00002005 - Solarpunk - Building style dedicated to all futuristic buildings with utopian elements and with focus on solar energy etc... This is important because people who do not want to obtain a Range IID can rely on the IIDs of users who are on the sheet. Conclusions With the publication of this thread we can finally remove the mod warnings and officially open the additional styles to the public allowing you to finally build cities with more modularity. The only informative note we leave you with is to carefully consider that there are many standards among the RCI buildings so you need to include all supporting versions (CAM & PIM-X, SPAM, IRM and MAXIS PIM) of the buildings. In case you want to create building styles specific to some standards (Example: Cyberpunk style that supports only CAM & PIM-X and IRM) you have to specify it in your downloads in order to avoid unpleasant problems. Also in case of critical problems (Immortal Lot Syndrome etc..) you must immediately report the offending lot to make the necessary corrections in order to avoid unpleasant problems for people. -/-/- WARNING: THIS MOD ONLY SUPPORTS 1.1.641 WINDOWS DIGITAL COPY OF SimCity 4. IN ADDITION, THE MOD IS EXPERIMENTAL AND WE CANNOT GUARANTEE SOLVING THE PROBLEMS. FOR ANY PROBLEM WITH THE MOD YOU MUST POST YOUR PROBLEM IN THIS THREAD
  7. This DLL mod is intended as a dependency for other mods that add new building styles beyond the 4 that Maxis included, it does not add any building styles to the game by itself. Maxis programmed the Building Style Control UI to only recognize the check boxes of the 4 built-in styles, no matter how may check boxes are actually present. This mod patches the game's memory to remove that restriction. Build all styles at once The DLL fixes a game bug to make this feature work as Maxis intended. Adding More Building Styles into SC4 The building style IDs are assigned in the SimCity 4 Building Styles Index thread, you will need to use the Maxis/community styles or request your own public and/or private building style ID range in that thread. Modifying the Building Styles UI The easiest way to get started is to download the Building Style UI template, but you can also create your own Building Style Control override plugin. Building Style UI Template A UI template is available here, which supports all of the new controls the DLL adds. The UI Template can be configured using either BuildingStyles.ini or the Building Style exemplars. Once you have configured your styles in BuildingStyles.ini or the style exemplars, see the section below on assigning buildings to custom styles. Creating a Custom Building Style UI Create a patch that overrides the default Building Style Control UI, TGI 0x00000000,0x96a006b0,0x6bc61f19 in SimCity_1.dat. Edit the UI to add the style check boxes, and optionally the new check boxes and radio buttons that the DLL supports. The check box or style ID (e.g. 0x2003) identifies the building style to the game. See the section below on assigning buildings to custom styles. Adding Buildings to Custom Building Styles This process is performed with ilive's Reader or PIMX. The building's intended styles should be added to the building exemplar using the Building Styles property (property id 0xAA1DD400). The building will only grow when one or more of the custom or Maxis styles in that property is selected in the game's UI. The DLL will ignore the building styles in the Occupant Groups property (property id 0xAA1DD396) when the Building Styles property is present. For compatibility with players who are not using the DLL, the Maxis styles in the Occupant Groups property should be left alone. If you are creating a new building, add the Building Styles property for users with the DLL and set the Occupant Groups property to one or more of the 4 Maxis styles for users without the DLL. For Wall-to-Wall (W2W) buildings, add the Building Is Wall-to-Wall property (property id 0xAA1DD401) to the building's exemplar with the value set to true. If the Building Is Wall-to-Wall property is not present or the value is set to false, the building will be treated as non-W2W. See the Building Styles Exemplar Property (0xAA1DD400) and Building Is Wall-to-Wall Exemplar Property (0xAA1DD401) sections for more details. New Building Exemplar Properties Building Styles Exemplar Property (0xAA1DD400) This property allows the building styles that are active when the DLL is installed to be specified separately from the Maxis building styles in the Occupant Groups property (0xAA1DD396). Residential and Commercial Buildings The Building Styles property is optional for custom building style support in residential and commercial buildings. When the property is present, the building will use custom and Maxis styles specified in the property and ignore the styles in the Occupant Groups property (0xAA1DD396). When the property is not present, the building will use the custom and Maxis styles specified in the Occupant Groups property (0xAA1DD396). Industrial Buildings The Building Styles property is mandatory for custom building style support in industrial buildings. When the property is present, the building will use custom styles specified in the property. When the property is not present, the building will be treated as compatible with all styles. Building Is Wall-to-Wall Exemplar Property (0xAA1DD401) This is a Boolean property, a value of true indicates that the building is W2W. If the value is false or the property is not present, the building will not be considered W2W. This is the preferred method for identifying W2W buildings that do not already have one of the W2W occupant groups. Building Style Check Box Tool Tips The individual building styles can have a tool tip that describes the style when the user hovers over that check box. When defining styles in a Building Style exemplar, the tool tip can be set with the Building Style Exemplar: ToolTip Key property. For styles that are defined in BuildingStyles.ini, the tool tips must use the LTEXT group id 0x3EE5B610 with the style id as the LTEXT instance id. The group id supports the standard language offset scheme. The style id is used as the LTEXT instance id. For example, the 0x2004 building style in would use the following TGI in German: 0x2026960B, 0x3EE5B614, 0x00002004. Tool tips can optionally have a title in addition to a body, this is done by placing both on a single line with a pipe separator. For example: ToolTip Title|Tool tip body Note that how the game displays tool tips with both a title and body will depend on the user's game settings. If the user has unchecked the expanded tooltips check box in the play options dialog, the game will display the tool tip title (if present) or the body, but not both. Building Style Exemplars These exemplars provide a way for building style mods to define the style check boxes without requiring the user to edit BuildingStyles.ini. See the Building Style Exemplars page for more information. Cheat Codes The DLL provides the following cheat codes: ActiveStyle shows an in-game message box with the ID of the currently active style when Change building style every N years is selected. When Build all styles at once is selected, using this cheat will display a message saying that mode is active. DebugActiveStyles writes the IDs of all the active/checked styles to the plugin's log file. BuildingStyles INI File This file allows styles to be defined without editing the Building Style Control UI file. When the check box button ids for the Building Style Control are in the range of 0-127, these ids can be mapped to a specific style and style name in BuildingStyles.ini. The style entries are placed under a BuildingStyles section and use the following format: <UI button id> = <style id>,<style text format>[,<style name>] <UI button id> is a style check box id in the range of 0-127. <style id> is the building style id assigned in the Building Style Index, or the text Show (case-insensitive) to display a disabled placeholder check box. <style text format> is one of the following values: N (normal text) or B (bold text). <style name> is optional, when present it uses one of the following formats: <name> or CaptionRes:<LTEXT group id>,<LTEXT instance id>. If <style name> is not present, a default name will be used. Examples: 0 = 0x2005,B,Mediterranean & Tropical 1 = 0x2006,N,CaptionRes:0x6a231eaa,0x6bbbd875 2 = Show,N,Placeholder Check Box 3 = Show,B SC4MoreBuildingStyles INI File This file contains settings that control whether the growable debug logging code will write to the plugin's log file. It is recommended that you only enable these options for experimentation. They will slow down your game and quickly produce a large log file. As an example from one of my tests, a 22 second run with the BuildingStyleSelection and LotStyleSelection options enabled produced a ~2 MB log file with ~15,500 lines. Lua Functions The DLL provides a number of building style related functions for use by Lua scripts. See building_style.lua for a list of the provided functions, and building_style_tests.lua for examples of their use. Download: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/36112-allow-more-building-styles-dll-plugin/ Source Code: https://github.com/0xC0000054/sc4-more-building-styles System Requirements SimCity 4 version 641 Windows 10 or later Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 x86 Redistribute The plugin may work on Windows 7, but I do not have the ability to test that. Installation Close SimCity 4. Copy SC4MoreBuildingStyles.dll, SC4MoreBuildingStyles.ini and BuildingStyles.ini into the top-level of the Plugins folder in the SimCity 4 installation directory or Documents/SimCity 4 directory. Start SimCity 4. Troubleshooting The plugin should write a SC4MoreBuildingStyles.log file in the same folder as the plugin. The log contains status information for the most recent run of the plugin. 8. We've all heard that SC4 is limited to the original 4 building tilesets. Right? Well, @Cyclone Boom and I have been poking around under the hood. There are some caveats with what we've accomplished and we're still testing, but here're a few pics showing what we've done: First step is telling the game it can have more than just the original four: To test our idea, CB made 8 separate lots: Each test lot is in its own tileset. Here's what 0x2004 looks like inside its building exemplar: While we have added radio buttons for the additional sets and they can be clicked on and off, so far the game seems to only know that the new sets are available based on the Building Development exemplar setting. That means we have to change the property in there to limit the extra sets. With the setting we are testing (in the first pic above) it does cycle thru the full set of 8. ^ Also, we haven't tested beyond 4 extra sets, but there's no reason to believe we can't have more.
  9. I have discovered a strange issue in the game that I'd like to start a discussion about. However, I'm not really sure if this issue is unique to my copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe (I purchased a digital copy from Amazon since I switched to Windows 10 and the CD version doesn't work anymore), because I've already discovered another strange issue that I never had a year ago when I was playing on the CD version of SC4. In case you want to test it on your own, I've attached the relevant testing files to this post, but please read first. The issue: In the game menu's building style subsection, there is a command whhich would allow the player to let all building styles be grown at the same time (I'm playing SC4 in German, therefore, I don't know the proper English name). Please see the second screenshot below. My assumption is that in my game, this command does not work at all and the game still shifts to another building style in regular intervals which are defined by the command "Change building style every ... years". To get some evidence about this, I started a series of experiments like this: External preparations: I had not been entirely sure if this issue is being caused by a plugin or if it is an in-game bug, therefore, I've made two serieses of experiments, one on an already developed Plugins folder and one without any plugins (except a building blocker and the testlots). To make sure that 1. I can control which buildings will grow, 2. I will be able to recognize them according to their building style, and 3. all building styles have the same chance of being grown, I did the following: I downloaded and installed a building blocker plugin (this one, to be exact) and customized it in a way that it would prevent all default Maxis residentials from growing but would still allow all industrials and commercials to be grown. I removed all residentials from my Plugins folder. I developed 4 residential lots (R$, 1x2, Stage 1, low density) with identical stats and completely devoid of props that just had two differences: Each one onlw grows under one tileset, the tileset being different for each one; and they had different base textures so that I could easily recognize them. BTW, these testlots are attached to this post; you are free to download and use them, if you want. In-game preparations: I started a new region and created a scene with the following properties: Only 1x2 low-density residential zones have been laid out. They are supplied with power and water, and a few commercial and industrial zones, as well as agricultural zones, have been laid out as well. Only about 25% of the residential zones have road access. The reason: I want to be able to demonstrate the visual results if my assumption was correct. After 1 year has passed, I'll connect another 25% of the residential zones to a street. The settings in the building style menu: The results: After 1 year (at Dec 31st, 00): After 2 years: After 3 years: After 4 years: After this 4 years period, the game just starts again with the buildings shown in the year of 00. BTW, the order in which the building styles are growing is: Chicago, New York, Houston, Euro. I repeated this testing series with a completely empty Plugins folder (aside from the Maxis buildings blockers and the testing lots, of course). The results were the same. This could still be a coincidence, but imo this is really unlikely. I assume that in this case the command "Build all tilesets at the same time" doesn't work at all, for whatever reason. Questions: I've been playing Sim Sity 4: Deluxe for about 7 years now. I've frequently been wondering why sometimes certain buildings just don't want to grow, and sometimes the game just grows the same building all over my cities. But during years of roaming Simtropolis Exchange and sc4devotion, I've never stumbled about a thread or even one single post mentioning a bug like this. Am I the first one to discover a bug that has went undiscovered all the time? Or is it just me and there's something wrong with the digital copy I purchased? Or is there another in-game setting that I'm not aware of that could cause such a behavior of the game? Is this malfunction actually known, at all? Has it already been discovered and I just never heard about it? In case someone else has reason to assume that their copy of SC4 would suffer from the same malfunction: I'd highly appreciate if at least some people would download and install the testing lots attached to this post, make the same experiments (they don't require external dependencies), and report the results here. 12. Hi Guys, one thing I've always missed in Sim City is the possibility to build a city, that looks like it has gone threw different times, just like a real one does. Of course there is the option for different building styles, but after installing a few lots this gets pointless. For example if I want to start my city with c.p.'s beautiful early 19th century houses and after some time decide to start a "new age" with a new architectural style things gets complicated. The new houses need to have an other building style than the one from my early homes (Chicago). But this means, i wouldn't be able to have any new lots, their building style is Chicago too. Otherwise my newly zoned ares would have both "new" and "old" houses, destroying my plan to have different styles in different areas. So my idea is to change all the buildings I want in one age to a specific style, and all the other ones to a different one. By this way a city could look like it grew through four different times. As I only tried making some models with gmax a few times, and never got to the point making the final lot I don't know how the building style is selected and whether it is possible to change it afterwards. Possible or not this method would be a really annoying and time consuming one. So i came to the idea of writing a program that simply changes the building style to the one you like. As my experiences as a programmer are not really much and my knowledge never exceeded one year in university, i'm not really sure whether i could do this. But why don't give it a try. And this finally leads me to my question: is there any possibility to read the SC4Lot files?
  13. Building Style

It's my first post here so Hi All! I have recently downloaded Tn house pack which is awesome but it's completly flooding my districts with new york or chicago style sets. I want to edit all of the lots from this pack and just assign them euro or houston style. Just don't know how.
