    Yep, that also happens. As an example, let's say you have a stage 6, 4x3 CO$$ mid rise. Since the simulator is always looking to upgrade zones to higer stages, you may end up with three stage 7 1x3 copies of exactly the same building. It works as intended, but still, it can mess up already developed areas. I've always had problems with the chaotic way the game develops zones, it works for filling up large areas with low density housing and commerce in more or less an organic way, but at higher densities, no city in the world would allow such a messy, uncontrolled redevelopment.

    Man, I hate when the game does this!!! There's also this annoying glitch (?) that occurs when you have a building modded to grow in a corner, the game will split a, say 3x2, 3x3 or 4x3 zone and it will build multiple instances of that corner building in the inside of the block Whenever I get a building I want, I just make it historical, but it's still requires a ton of patience and sometimes you forget. Whilst managing development to go along with demand it's certainly the first step, i'ts just not enough. Sometimes it's also due to badly modded old content that doesn't work according to the game's mechanics; that requires going into the PIM or the Reader to manually fix things, and not every player is an obsessive control freak like yours truly.

  4. I choose Medium, moslty because I play on a laptop and have 3+Gb of plugins, I don't want to wait forever for the city to load. Plus, I tend to really pack my cities with w2w blocks and fill in every available tile with decorations and such, I pay a great deal of attention to streetscapes. That means I mostly play the game on zooms 5-3 so a large city tile is not that necessary tbh. Also, it's easier to fill and it feels a bit less overwhelming for obsessive detail maniacs like me. The only trick is you have to learn to seamlessly continue the street layout troughout various city tiles and plan your network so you don't trigger the eternal commuters bug.

    Hey!! So, thanks to you all!!!. Sorry it took me so long to respond, I didn't get a chance to properly read the replies and test the solution during the week. I tried it in my unaffected city tile and it indeed lets you delete the lot normally! I'll update the transit switch when I bulldoze the lot in every city. I can work with the backup I have, but it is worth asking: could that airport sub file be somehow modified? From what I understand it's something located in the savegame, and I know those aren't commonly modified, but I'm just curious

    Neither am I, I downloaded the Save game explorer to see if it could somehow tell me if the file was broken but that doesn't seem to be it's purpose. I'm out of ideas at this point It's not as bad as it could be, the good news is that I took a lot of screenshots so I could redevelop the zones so that they look the same, Though I still want to modify that airport, so it's worth finding out the cause of the problem to avoid future incidents.

    That is also correct, I tried to do that after the first time the city refused to load. I added a couple more files after but they were just commercial lots, I could try removing them but that probably won't be it. Oh, I've been rather careful in that regard. I'm always modding/fixing things so I keep a tidy pluins folder, though sometimes there's things that slip trough the cracks like in this case. I'm positive I haven't removed anything since then, only added.

    Yep, that is indeed the order in which I did it, the thing is, the crash came when loading just the city, so I doubt it's a conflict with the plugins themselves. No dice, restored both the region and the lot files and it still won't load. I'm starting to think I've lost the city file. I tried something else: With the region backup, I went to the other city that used the airport shuttle lot and bulldozed it, but this time I allowed some time to pass (some 2-3 in game months) saved, exited to region and exited the game. However, the same thing happened, I couldn't load the city file when I re-entered the game. I tried loading both cities with and without the file in my plugins but it is to no avail. The first time it happened I thought the cause of the problem was that I saved with the game in pause, not giving the game time to adjust to the change but that's not it, it seems

    Oh, I may not have told it correctly. I bulldozed the lot with the original version still in my plugins, I was going to delete it, mod it, and then re plop it. However, I now remember that another city in the region has that same airport lot, so I probably need to delete it there too before modding it. I have a backup of the original airport file (the one I tried to restore in an attempt to fix the city) I also made a backup of the whole region right after deleting the lot and saving, I should have made the backup before bulldozing the airport lot.

    This project of yours is fantastic!!!. If I can sugest something: You can do both versions, there is kind of a lack of 2-3 story neoclassical/eclectic buildings. I'd be really nice to have some lower rise ones.

    I don't know of authors currently making Maxis Nite compatible skyscrapers besides @mattb325, but I hope these few suggestions help The first thing that comes to mind are Hong Kong skyscrapers, here and here Mattb325 has made a couple of top quality towers, both residential and commercial, here And here's one of my favorites; Kingofsimcity did growable lots of some of Diego Del Llano's Maxis Nite compatible buildings here Besides those, you could do a google search typing "site:simtropolis.com: tower" or "site:simtropolis.com:torre" to find some more skyscrapers

  18. Hi! First of all, sorry if this has been asked before, with SC4D unavaliable I can't search the support forums properly. I'm having a couple of problems with PIM-X, namely that I can't drag models to the Ploppable/Education/Opera category. When I try to do it I get this error message The other problem is that I can't elevate props in the Lot Editor, I remember having no trouble with this in my old win7 computer. When I try to do it this error message appears: Thanks for any help you may be able to give me!!

    Thank you both for your help! I haven't tried updating the graphics driver to solve the raising issue but the Maxis LE will do just fine in the meantime, or if the issue can't be resolved

Man, I've spent so many frustrating hours bulldozing and redeveloping areas wishing there was a way to plop functional residential buildings. @smf_16 Many of us will be ever so grateful to you just for kicking this into gear, this is truly a complete gamechanger

    That is an excellent idea! I would definitely use it even if it's just a static landmark. I hope you can manage to get the LODs to work. Would these supports light up at night? They reminded me of this bridge in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. With light they would make for some eyecatching scenes.
  22. PIM-X problems

    Took me a while to try these solutions, I was away from my computer for a few days. I modified the settings.ini as shown by @rsc204 and indeed managed to get an exemplar. However the building didn't show up in any of my menus so I ended up modifying the OG's in the Reader anyway, as @mattb325 suggested; I changed the "Building:Civic" property to "Building:Reward" aaand it now shows up in the rewards menu, yay!! One little question though. What would the "Building:Park" property do? Would it just put the building in the Parks menu or does it do something else? I'm guessing the Park effect and CAP relief can be added to any building irrespective of the OG's, but I'm asking just to cover all bases. Oh and also, since I'm messing around in the Reader, I'm thinking I can maybe change the query reference to take advantage of the "Opera House fix" mod
