  1. Chapter 31: Run To The North

Nice entry. Loved how you did the Bunker complex, very realistic, problably the best approach I've ever seen to these kind of military facilities in SC4!
  2. Mosaic

The born of a new city.

  4. God, I always loved you guys VIP work; such a great quality in those french BATs that can be used in other european enviroments too.
  5. Can't find it?... Ask here!

I can't download it right now to check that, but if you're right about it (the radio station being only available as a building), you can actually edit that and transform a building into a prop using PIM-X (https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/29-modding-and-creation-tools/21-sc4pim)

So as you guys may know, memo released a new version of the old BAT4Blender Project, and that was a very exciting news for me, since I don't have access to a 3dsMAX copy right now, don't really like gmax and SketchUp, the program I use to model (I know, I know :P) have some limitations regarding SC4 modelling. As you can see reading that thread, there's still some things that need to be fixed - and hopefully memo or the community will be able to do it - but Blender will become my main program when that happens Also, today I opened my W.I.P. BAT folder and found two buildings I started months ago. One is basically done, a smalltown polish shop I just need to export. The other one - that I will be showing now - is a supermarket that I had 80% of the modelling part done but still needed to do all the texturing. I hope these two BATs are the last ones I make using SketchUp - I’m hoping to use only Blender for modeling in the future. Anyway, I did a bit of progress today with the modelling (imo it's done) and started some texturing in the supermarket: The colors on the wall are temporary, just so we can see better the details in the model in the gmax render. What do you guys think? It's a small supermarket, suitable to small/mid towns or even suburbs of big cities. There will be problably a 3x3 lot and maybe a bigger 5x4 or similar. I’m a bit rusty after going months without practicing, so I’m totally open to suggestions and criticism haha Thanks
  7. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Everything is very good, amazing job as usual. But I need to say how the first two at the top could work wonderfully as balkan/middle eastern/central asian apartments, which is something we don't have a lot of options out there, very nice

You're problably talking about the Poseidon mod here: https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/26-gameplay-mods/156-sc4d-LEX-legacy-jenex-aurora-jupiter-poseidon Check the ReadMe, but by your description I'm guessing thats what you're looking for
  9. Can't find it?... Ask here!

The two brown buildings were made by the guys from SimCityPolska: You can find more similar buildings in the "SimCityPolska" section of the STEX
  10. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Can't help you with the first question, specially because I use the PEG Seaports Regarding the surface water, CahosRahneVeloza already linked two good mods, and I will post other options too: https://cafe.naver.com/simcitysquare/35974 (JRJ Ploppable Water) https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=cc2add1aee3c188ef858fb919997608a;topic=13853.msg536388#msg536388 (VIP River Kit)
  11. Show us What you're Working On

I love your work and the dedication you put on it with that much custom content you create for it. Regarding these old-town walled cities, it comes to my mind some work that was done by vortext (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=15903.msg532412#msg532412 - it has a medieval setting, but some of these timber-framed houses made by JENXparis can help you), manga rivotra (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?msg=538080) and badsim (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=217.2420). Hope some of these can help you with inspiration! I don't know if its me playing a bit too much of DayZ lately but yeah, specially that first building reminds me a lot of some rural train stations you find through the map
  12. Can't find it?... Ask here!

I think its this one: https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/37-terrain-mods-and-tree-controllers/147-bsc-cp-maxis-palm-to-aspen
  13. Lot Request Thread

You can create a ploppable version using PIM-X But there's a new cheat (growify) now that makes your residentials plopped buildings actually become functional just like the growables:
  14. BAT4Blender

This sounds amazing! I hope you guys are able to solve the lighting problem, because BAT4Blender seems like a very good alternative to those who can't use 3DSMax and don't really like gmax old interface and mechanics. I use SketchUp to model my creations, so if Blender becomes a viable option I'll problably start to use it as my main program!
  15. Can't find it?... Ask here!

These roads, buildings, parking lots, etc were all made using LotEditor/PIM-X. It's not a mod like SFBT Street Mod. I think you can find some of the props used in this pic here: These vehicles were made by Girafe too, you can find them on SC4Evermore. The trees look like CP Trees, also available on SC4Evermore. I think so? I would just try tbh haha, but I think its included there
  16. Can't find it?... Ask here!

These apartment buildings on the right comes in some LBT prop/model pack, I'm not sure from which pack, so I will list the most commons here. Also bear in mind they're just models/props, so you will need to create the Lots using LotEditor/PIM-X Edit: Oops, @Creador2003 was right, it comes from this pack here:
  17. I don't play the game in the way it was designed, so I can't help you with questions like Growth, Public Transit, Demand, etc But - since I play the game in an almost 100% ploppable and eye-candy way, I think I can give you some tips in how achieve your desired look As Ulisse said, the first thing you should ask yourself is: what kind of region I want to build? Which style you want? Do you want an Pacific Northwest city? A New York City lookalike megalopolis? Small rural midwestern town? A Caribbean island? A Nordic city? British? Mediterranean? Japanese? Indonesian? South American? Middle Eastern? West African? This is the first thing you should decide imo. Then, search and download Terrain, Water, Beach and Rock mods and a Tree Controller that matchs the looks of the place you're taking as inspiration. You can download a custom map from the STEX here or from the SC4Evermore site (https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/32-sc4-mapper-maps/111-sc4d-LEX-legacy-map-pack) - many of these custom maps are based on real life locations, others are fictional. You can always create your own map too using Terraformer or even using the in-game mechanics. My first - and biggest - tip to create realistic cities is: use real life references. Photos, videos, Google Earth, Street View, etc. When I'm creating my cities (which Its based in the Karelia region at the Russian and Finnish border) I always have Google Earth/Maps open in my browser or in my phone (I wish I had a secondary monitor, it helps a lot haha). Take, for example, my last entry, 'Kakisalmi'. This city is based on the real-life city called Priozersk. It is not a copy, but if you compare the first image of that entry with a satellite image of the Russian city, you can find similarities and reference points that I used (the fortress, the City Park, the lumber mill), as well as the city's geography. It's nice to use Google Earth/Maps to see the cities layout and road network of the region you're taking inspiration from. Cities, Farmlands and Industries are built different in Russia, in the USA, in the UK, in Brazil, in Saudi Arabia, etc As I said, I play in a sandbox mode, so I can't really help you with questions like "but how I will get the money to do all that" or "but is that road layout really the most efficient" or "How do I get the demand to my buildings grow?" since I simply use the moolah cheat and super demand mod haha. But there's a bunch of specialists out there that can help you create beautiful cities while taking care of that aspect of the game, I'm just not one of them Also, look into the "Show us" threads and City Journals (both here and in the SC4Devotion forum) to see other people work. I will not make a list of City Journals you should look to take inspiration because simply there's just too many good creators out there, It's imposible to list everybody. The one exception I will do is with korver True Earth - since I think it's a unanimity in the aesthetics part of the game I know his cities aren't actually functional, but you just can't take enough inspiration from his amazing job. He also uses a lot of private custom content and photoshop, but even with these limitations you can use his work as reference since he recreated a lot of real life cities and countries in his CJ. It's basically that. In the aesthetic part of the game, you should download a lot - real lot - of custom content that matches your goal from Simtropolis, Sc4Evermore, Toutsimcities and other sites that are still up, and also use a lot of real life references to see if what you're creating in the game seems plausible with what exist in the real life region you're taking inspiration from.
  18. Show us What you're Working On

I'm glad you found it helpful Imo its already much better! And this zoom-out view is really good, nice infrastructure in this tile! As you said you were experimenting, I would suggest taking a look at this great catalogue made by @CorinaMarie: I always suggest the ones made by Gobias if you can play with "hardware" render setting, but again, this is personal taste and I'm no one to enforce something to you haha
  19. Show us What you're Working On

Beautiful, beautiful port! Very nice, congrats! May I suggest you something? Why don't you try downloading a water mod? Such a large, beautiful and realistic port deserves better than that maxis default non-textured water imo, a more realistic water mod would make the port look even better! But ofc its your decision haha the port itself is amazing anyway!
  20. Why should the person above you be banned? V2

old game + discord killing forum culture on the internet = less actives forums unfortunately :/ and btw you should be banned for posting a off topic on this thread
  21. Chapter 9: Plight of the Hakawa

The pics are very nice! Great job using historical and even modern plugins to represent that era's building style. Looking forward to see the development of Port Gilbert!
  22. Coming Soon: Los Angeles

Wow, nice to see you back to work! I liked a lot your previous work with realistic recreations of Rio, East African and Middle Eastern environments!
  23. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Regarding the canals: Try looking here, it lists some expansions files you didnt find on simtropolis, but I don't know if they have what you're looking for (the Mayflower is there i think, but you need to download a dependency, translate the page if you need because you need to read the description): https://cafe.naver.com/simcitysquare/45093
  24. Photo editing in GIMP

I remember a very detailed tutorial with these advices but using Photoshop. Maybe you're you're talking about this one? The original (^) lost its images, so maybe it's better to take a look on the web.archive version: https://web.archive.org/web/20170930192240/https://community.simtropolis.com/omnibus/SimCity-4/reference/using-photoediting-to-enhance-ingame-pictures-r235/
  25. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Left is the Helsinki Railway Station by prepo: https://cafe.naver.com/simcitysquare/35442 Right has the same style of buildings from the JBSimio Clayhurst University pack, I would take a look there: https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/16-civic/136-sc4d-LEX-legacy-jbsimio-education-compilation
