As I said in the "Show Us What You're Working On" thread, I'm opening a separate one for showing my lot projects and experiments Continuing on with the relots of Maxis' ploppables, here's the two standard medical buildings: For the clinic, I decided to replace the parking lot with a small patio, and the back of the building prompted me to add a short asphalt access. There's not many changes on the hospital besides the parking lot. Tried to simulate a front parking entrance with that storefront prop, covered some odd rendering of the main building with cp's stone wall props and added benches on the inside. Relots of the elementary schools, high schools and the municipal college: Also as per suggestion by @matias93, I'm experimenting with a terminus version of the standard passenger rail station. I still need to add a ticket office to the individual passenger stops:

In this installment of the Maxis renewal series, the basic Maxis civic services, as well as some government related rewards, have been re-loted. As usual, changes include general lot redecoration, like most flora seasonalized and SCILT sidewalk textures, among other things. Lots overridden: Small and Large elementary schools, Small and Large high schools, City college, Basic and Mayor art museums, Local and Central Libraries, Private schools, Opera, Police kiosk, Small, Large and Deluxe police stations, Small and Large fire stations, Clinic, Medical center and Disease center, City halls, Courthouse, Stock exchange and Bureau of bureaucracy (Back shown in the screenshot) As usual, these overrides require a considerable amount of dependencies: CityHalls Mod Reward Fix (Needed for the City Hall Overrides. In this first* installment of the Maxis renewal series, most of the basic Maxis parks, as well as some related rewards, have been re-lotted. Changes include general lot redecoration: most trees replaced with CP's seasonal and semiseasonal variants, sidewalk textures replaced with CP's SCILT textures and the green park's base replaced to match the open grass area, among other things. Lots overriden: Green parks, flower gardens, plazas, sportsfields, beach, minor and major league stadium facelift, mayor statues, farmer's market. Optional standalone lots included: koi pond garden, fenced sportfields, beach promenade extensions. These overrides require a considerable amount of dependencies: Buildingprop vol1 and 2 OR T-wrecks' Maxis Prop Name and Query Fix Maxis Parthenon and Stonehenge plugins SCILT (Linked to Maxis default version. choose any SCILT version you want) PEG MTP Super Resource Pack SHK Parking Pack Porkie Props Vol1 Paeng Textures V104 BSC Textures Vol02 BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol 01 BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol 02 BSC MEGA Props - D66 Vol 02 BSC MEGA Props - DAE Vol 01 BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol 01 BSC MEGA Props - Gascooker Vol 01 BSC MEGA Props - JES Vol 03 BSC MEGA Props - JES Vol 05 BSC MEGA Props - JES Vol 09 NUTs prop pack A *Technically second, as I consider the Grand Rail Station Facelift as part of the series Notes: As with any lot overrides, it's recommended to bulldoze any existing instances of these Maxis lot overrides in your desired region before (un)installing this plugin, otherwise it may lead to problems ranging from texture and prop mismatches to other issues. Upside down? I don't know, everything looks pretty normal to me! AsimPika's Popeye giving a thumbs down, me having to stand on the ceiling to write this post... (I find it amusing that Cyclone's avatar is largely unaffected. Only the shade got swapped )

[CSL] Show us what you're working on!
Manuel-ito replied to TPB's topic in Cities: Skylines Showcase
With the newest update facelifting vanilla train tracks, I started working on a new set of passenger stations meant to supercede a train halt I made a while ago: These are all in a Cities Railways (aka 'Vanilla') style, so they may have some warts, and all but one use BadPeanut's ground station networks. Still have a while to go before they are ready for publishing. Need to double-check some track lenghts, stop points and rebalance each against the vanilla station. -
In a Nutshell Guide to... Christmas Plugins

The pack is fairly basic (it was made back in 2006, when Rush Hour was still young ), so the items stay the same all year round. -

A bit late to share this, but... There's an old, fan-made pack at Capital SimCity that contains various themed decorations, from transit enabled Christmas lights to plazas with decorated trees -

[CSL] Show us what you're working on!
Manuel-ito replied to TPB's topic in Cities: Skylines Showcase
Still working on Pepper Lake, I have more or less finalized the design of Pioneer Milling Company: It's not the only factory, tho. Several new ones have sprouted nearby: This took me longer than I'd like to admit. Lots of bulldozing until I got the growables I wanted, plus some more for level 2 buildings (and even more for those with color variations!). Also making sure they didn't dilapidate due to worker shortage. And yes, I replaced the default interchange -
The perspective on the Flatiron Building caught me off guard. Are you sure that's from SimCity 4? Just kidding. Amazing work as always!

[C:S] Tornado Country scenario: The second visit
Manuel-ito posted a City Journal entry in Manuel-ito's city building scraps and sketches
The passing of the tornado had one of the factory clusters pack up due to lack of workers, so the storage yard was relocated: The primary milling facility seems to be going strong though: Meanwhile, I'm having fun with gravel roads planning for future expansion of the town. You can also see the ground has mostly healed from the disaster: I also announced the purchase of a new plot of land east of town for further future development, not shown here. Instead, here's a bird's eye new of Pepper lake at night: At morning, everything seems to be peaceful, when suddenly the earth starts to shake... ...Or rather, sink. A sinkhole suddenly appeared and ate a section of Memorial Park. Miraculously, nobody was visiting when this happened. Repairs are in order. The hole was deemed too dangerous to rebuild on, so it's left as is: The construction of new industries has left the town in brownouts, so a new coal-driven power station is commisioned: However, this region either hates fossil power or has a cruel sense of humor, for a few minutes later... ...not again! Tornado! Tornado! Casualty report: 386 citizens. Power station destroyed, wind turbines derelict, fire and police brigade left without a home. The Plaza of the 299 narrowly survived after having one of its gates torn up (and having a car nearly land on top of the graves) After the necessary repairs, a new plaza for the fallen 386 has been constructed at the main park gate: The incident showed that emergency brigades cannot rely on a single office for a town this size, so a new set opens near the industrial area, hopefully out of tornado zone. They will definitely hate me for having to work near the landfill, though: A new schoolhouse has also been opened to promote growth and relieve pressure on Pioneer Elementary, as it was starting to get overcrowded: Pepper Lake after the second tornado: (For those curious to what triggers the disasters: the tornadoes happen twice over the span of two days, and the sinkhole occurs after you buy a second city tile) That's all for now! -

To be fair, I just started the scenario, but yes, that access will definitely get overhauled (Along with the boulevard too. Not the first time I played this city, so I know that it will bring trouble once I expand enough, specially since I plan on connecting it with the other stretch of highway on the other side of the map) -
[C:S] Tornado Country scenario: Obligatory 'Humble beginnings' title
Manuel-ito posted a City Journal entry in Manuel-ito's city building scraps and sketches
Decided to start a new cities skylines scenario after a multitude of real life and gaming problems (RIP Appletown, will resurrect you some day) This time is Tornado Country, home of the town of Pepper Lake, a town with many ambitions. Still going for a 'vanilla with sprinkles' approach, this time with less of them, I mean, without mods. Scenario objectives: reach 260K population, 20k lifecycles and 1M funds (you start with 500K) You lose only at 30K in debt, that's it. Easy scenario, if it weren't for the fact that the game is notorious for melting computers at 100K+ population, among other problems... Enough ramble! here's the town as soon as you start: The town must've been settled recently, as 93% of the population is unemployed. Basic services are already built: landfill, clinic, fire and police stations and elementary school. First plan for the town is to expand it: settle factories and small shops, cut some expenses on those roads and raise tax levels to fund all of it. Thankfully, all approved by the town (althought I'm sure I saw some frowns on the roads and taxation ideas) Also not commented on: Landfill moved, Storage yard built for the industries : To appease the lack of jobs, a marketplace has been set up at the roundabout. Between Pepper Avenue and Pioneer Central Boulevard lies the Pepper Pioneer Market: The park, renamed to Pioneer Park, recieved some embellishment, and a new vocational school has been opened to educate the citizens further. A statue has also been erected to commemorate the Founder: The utilities seemed a bit unprotected, so a security fence is now in place: At dusk, the industries have arrived at town. They call themselves the 'Pioneer Milling Company' : That's all for Pepper Lake for now! hope y- Wait, what's that siren i'm hearing? Oh... Um... there's a bit of a predicament here, Mr Founder: ...Figures. I guess that's why it's called 'Tornado Country', huh? After the tornado passed and the storm subsided, a park has been commisioned to commemorate the fallen citizens. This is Pepper Lake Memorial Park: 299 casualties were caught in the path of the cyclone. A plaza was constructed for them: A general view after the tornado: That's all for now! as you can see, I'm trying a different format for this. Not sure if I'm doing an OK job at it, but time (and comments) will tell Also, you're welcome to tell me any ideas for this city! -
I think we have a little predicament here, Mr. Founder... Tornado tearing trough Pepper Lake, Tornado Country scenario. 299 casualties reported: EDIT 02/26/2019: And here's the Plaza of the 299 nearly getting destroyed by a second tornado. 386 casualties reported:

Making some no-dependency variant Beautification lots
Manuel-ito replied to Psiman's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
The green diamonds represent 'effect' props. In this case, those are 'randomwalk' spawners, in other words, the ones responsible of generating those sims that randomly walk around the park in-game. As for the overlay problem, the lot may have multiple base textures stacked on top of each other. Try deleting said base texture(s) and replacing it.- 32 Replies

Cities: Skylines - Community Modding Requests
Manuel-ito replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
So, having seen the latest dev diary of the upcoming DLC 'Industries' (#4, to be exact) I'm wondering if it will be possible to make a mod that converts some of the previous DLC's Unique Buildings into the upcoming one's Unique Factories. Specific ones in mind are most of the Hi-tech Pack's buildings (Electric Car Factory, Software Center, Semiconductor Plant, etc) -
Forgot to demolish a lot before editing base textures
Manuel-ito replied to Edvarz's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
If I remember correctly, only editing the base (and overlay) textures won't cause any problems to existing ones in saved cities, other than the mismatched prop and bulding positions, that is. The actual problems may come if, for example, you change the lot size without demolishing them beforehand, as it may cause that particular lot to overlap others and potentially give you more problems (had some personal cases of 'immortal tiles' for having a modified lot be extended over growables) I would still recommend the safe route and demolish every instance before changing it, but in theory it shouldn't permanently damage a city file- 5 Replies

The Edificio España shot reminded me of some old in-jokes about the creator of that BAT being intimidated by the sheer complexity of the building. Can't really blame him for that though, the actual building has a lot of detailing Also, that's an amazing scene of El Escorial. Debussyman's BATs really stood the test of time

Chapter 12: A Summer to Remember Part 1: Summer Rain
Manuel-ito commented on pcwhiz24's City Journal Entry in (SC4) The Story of a Mayor
A thunderous rumble that's not linked to weather, followed by an ominous blackout? I thought I remembered the mayor of Woodland River City talking about his power plants being at capacity... Hope the region's well prepared for that scenario. Either way, intriguing update! -
Grand Rail Station not looking good
Manuel-ito replied to VitroOliveira's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
As matias93 said, you are using the original NCD railyard and spurs pack wich are meant to go with Maxis' railway textures. You'll want the RRW version for it to match properly. It's been awhile since I last checked, but I think I linked both options in the file page. Also said here is that it's better to bulldoze the relevant lots before adding or removing a relot plugin, then plopping them back, otherwise you'll get mismatching props and building positions at best (I should really add a note in the files saying that, just to be safe. EDIT: added those notes in each Maxis Renewal file page)- 8 Replies
