When you pull a rail line across a map you immediately create a problem of how to cross it - with a rural map probably just an at grade crossing, but in a town these are a death trap and traffic hurdle. So for some time I've been wanting to make a simple street overpass that can remove the crossing without using a FLUP or Road viaduct. There is actually a station in Newcastle, NSW that is configured this way - as a lot it would be 13x7 but I wanted to test the idea first.

Here I've wrapped my favourite Marrast station on a new 7x3 lot with an overpass. The corners of the overpass still need work - notice the holes in the fence - but the custom pathing works for cars, trucks and pedestrians. Its made of several pieces that can be arranged to make a simple overpass or something more exotic.

But for me the jury is out.

We have viaducts like these in Utah and they help with traffic a lot.  This is great!

Modular street viaduct? That sounds cool :)

I am also a big fan of Marrast stations.  These types of overpasses are very common in my city.  For me it would be the perfect railway reality. *:ohyes:

Excellent idea! Those street puzzle pieces would be extremely useful, they save space and make for a nice change in overpasses.

Well yes and no. Its modular, but you can't have adjoining Transit Enabled lots work as one, so it needs to be assembled as one lot - its not like the puzzle pieces for 15m Rail in the NAM. I've made it modular for me to be able to model it in S3D. Making up the lot is a little complicated - particularly matching the pathing to the configuration. So its not quite as easy as it seems. If I release it, expect a straight overpass and a lot like this. Obviously all the parts will be there, so lotters can have a go a rolling their own.

and thanks everyone for your reactions - you might sway the jury yet.

Just a question: the textures are baked in?

The three textures, brick, fence, and street are all modifiable/overrideable. These are not rendered BATs but S3D models like those used in the NAM.

Given the current germ-filled state of the planet, I think this next bat might be appropriate:

It's a cut-down version (I've removed approx 40m from the width, the real building is very long) of the World Health Organisation Headquarters in Geneva.

You are amazing Matt.

Some nice work in here - and I'm not saying this with a national bias: the two projects I like the most just happen to be fellow countrymen (mattb325's Pirie St. inspired building and Rivit's overpass) both are right up my alley. Hopefully that overpass is deemed successful...

I've added a walled city/imperial palace/ancient seat of government type campus to the downtown of one of my major cities using @thianz's uploads. I think it looks a little bare if I just use the base floor all throughout. Any park or monument suggestions for the center of this??

Terring Plaza Parks, for instance -- those are 1x1s, infinitely combinable. I've also made some modular parks and pathways -- see content on my page  *;)

In the early stages of rebranding one of these banks as an Urgent Care/Covid-19 drive-thru testing center.

@pclark06 nice!  One suggestion and Im not sure if u were already planning to do this - but consider sending the COVID-19 test patients to the drive thru canopies.

Here in Northern California theyve been doing drive thru testing.  There are VMS (variable messaging signs) and cones directing patients to be tested.  The VMS signs read something like:

1. “COVID 19 TEST REMAIN IN VEHICLE”

2. “KEEP WINDOWS UP WHILE WAITING“

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Yep that's the roof access ladder.
