jmsepe, wow, great looking place with amazing nightlights.Just had to take a look into your RP...man,too much awesomeness to handle for me right now.

bmag,Very well done patchwork.I love how you managed to use the terrain close to the waterfront without alternating the waterfront line too much. You know, cutting away headland/peninsulas just to straighten the waterfront.

Would love to have a closer look at the area where 3 to 4 bridges are stretching from one side of the river to another.

Drummond high tech sector and office park. Drummond is home to the majority of the high tech businesses on Sugar Island and many of the head offices are located in the Drummond office park.

For my new years resolution I want to stop procrastinating and familiarize myself more with the NAM...

So I created a region used to test the components of the Network Addition Mod. I will use this region to familiar myself more with the network widening mod and the real highway mod.

After weeks of installing mods, testing settings, hundreds of CTDs and all sorts of fun, I finally got started on my first major metropolis.

I present to you Boca del Cielo.

Got most of the layout finished, except for road and street network in the center of the map, which will be downtown commercial and parks mostly. Transport is mostly all taken care of except subway and bus stops. Piping is done, need to take care of power though.

Then I'll be ready to zone some and start seeings it grow... can't wait!!!

Anyway, let me explain what's what I guess...

Complete View:

Top left corner is the suburbs, lower-middle class ghettoish etc.

At the far right and center, in the inside of the river bend, is the high class residential neighborhood.

Running from there all the way left (north i think) is one of the two main railway lines. This serves as a division between the industrial sector and the main city, and the band of land on either side will be buffered with trees, lakes and parks.

Down from this line (west, bottom of image) is the industrial complex, which features no less than three freight stations, a small freight yard and a complex system of tunnels and avenues, connected by roundabouts which will hopefully keep my sims in employment heaven. Still need to make highway ramps in this area.

The whole central area around the main highway junction will be the downtown commercial district as mentioned above.

Please any comments, suggestions, criticism and whatnot is welcome and greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Update:   Industrial area highway ramps added, and some streets..

A few workings up my sleeve in my main city, Redmund (population 1,424,000).

Industrial Parkway, a spur from Highway 40 (therefore officially designated as Highway 540) - a short 1-mile controlled-access highway running through the industrial area, complete with a rail overpass and avenue half-diamond interchange.

H-540 Exit List:

Exit 1A: Highway 40, to Auburn and Downtown Redmund

Exit 1B: N Glades Blvd. (southbound entrance/northbound exit)

Exit 2: N Atlantic Dr.

A bridge approach across the Redmund River for Highway 40, the main regional highway running through Redmund:

An extension of Highway 40 leading east out of Redmund into Auburn:

@SimCoug: look closer. The part where the FAR/Diagonal runs through is built on land.

Here is my newest region:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Thanks! More to come :)

I'm using Fraps, which I have purchased, thus I can record more than 30 sec :)

Here's a big milestone for me. Playing since the day SC4 came out and for once I have a completely developed region!!! 7x7 large city map and currently over 1.6 million acres of farmland! In the middle and in the NW corner you see undeveloped land that will become two of the main population centers. I've been working on this map for about 3 months now and I'm now only getting to the city building part of it all!

I think everybody can recognize what is going to be...very slow progress but I think I am getting a very accurate recreation, especially with the terrain and shores...

Bring back Kai Tak!

Looking pretty nice! Can't wait to see the progress on this!

Starting to lay down some landmarks for the centerpiece of my region named Lancaster after my hometown. Sort of an alternate history theme I'm going with it and I think it'll turn out pretty well! I have another region and city with the same name but it experienced some technical difficulties so to the back burner it went.

Most of the farmland you see will eventually disappear from this map as well as the neighboring maps but the regional as a whole will be heavily agriculture.

Little trick using the WMP allotment set as a buffer zone and fence system for highways. I might be using this more on straight sections of the highways.
