I lost an external hard drive that had ALL of my Simcity 4 files on it. Probably 10 gigs worth. I was cleaning out my main hard drive and had moved them over. I have tried everything possible to retrieve them, but they are completely lost. I am heartbroken. I am starting to re-download all of my favorite files, and I have run into a roadblock. I cannot find any of APTX's BATS or Kei's BATs available for download anywhere at all. I have tried every search to no avail. If anyone has a link, or the files themselves, please let me know, as I would be eternally grateful. Thank you very much, Jason

I've been playing a lot of Megapolis this year... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Megapolis/279052452197672 It's fun. It isn't as good as Simcity, but it has it's moments. Every week there are little quests that have to be completed and then you get a prize. A lot of it is far-fetched and unrealistic, but, there is enough there to keep me going. The ONLY downfall to the game is that it's a "pay to play". If you are skilled at it, you can go pretty far without having to pay anything. I've been playing 8 months and have only paid 15 bucks... ANYWAY, the reason why I bring it up here, is because I have been really impressed by some of their buildings. I am consistantly finding myself saying "Boy, I wish I had that one for SC4". All the time.... If you look through this guide of the Russian version, you will know what I mean. http://vk.com/albums-18108426 What are the odds of anyone trying bring some of these designs to the STEX? Any thoughts on what I've suggested?

Why this would be beneficial to the community - This would be beneficial to the community because of the finite number of buildings available to make futuristic cities. This would also be a good BAT for SimMars, as well, a game that has limited additional plugins, too.

Every time I pass, I wish that I could plop it deep in my downtown, or along side my sunken highway. Whenever I build my downtown areas, I find that I have too many HUGE towers, and the area seems crowded and unrealistic. My smaller buildings and shorter towers tend to get dropped multiple times just to fill up the area. Another smaller design would be great to add to the list of smaller buildings to fill those larger downtown areas, or smaller cities. It's a simpler design, with a unique look. Plus, I'll give you fifty bucks. Just kidding on the fifty bucks. Thanks, JME

As always, absolutely perfect! The buildings are wonderful!!!! Just curious, though... Are there ploppable versions in the works? The reason why I ask, is I have thousands of buildings in my plugins folder, and consistantly remembering to zone 6x6 and 8x8 for your buildings will lead to eventual obscurity. Ploppable versions will ensure that when I see them in my Landmarks dropdown, I will place them in all of my cities forever!!!! Thoughts on that?

What is the MAXIMUM number of plug-ins possible?

My question is as the title states. What is the recommended maximum on plug-ins for SC4? With SO MANY great buildings and custom plug-ins available, I find it difficult to decide what to run and when. It is to the point that SC4 won't load to the actual city map - it crashes to desktop, and I think it is because of my plug-in volume. I have broken my plug-ins up into several packs - NYC, Asian, European, Sci-Fi and Basic/Generic. I do this not just because of the size, but also because of the mishmash of designs. The cities would look odd with French buildings next to edos. That being said, even with the plug-ins broken up, trying to get a single one of these packs is too much. My NYC pack is 12.9 gigs, and I only have my FAVORITE buildings included. So, again, what is the maximum that SC4 can handle on Windows 7, with Vanilla and Rush Hour, on a HP AMD Athlon II x2 250 Processor 3.00GHz with 4GB RAM & a 64-bit OS? Is there a system that could handle all of the plug-ins available? Is it simply the limitations of the game? How could the plug-ins be streamlined in order to load, or is there a backdoor method to load? Or am I simply dreaming? -

I've been gone for several days, but, I must thank you all for your advice and input. It sucks that I have to essentially work my way backward again, to find the problem. I thought I had solved it, but, I guess I haven't. My guess is that there ARE redundencies, simply because of all the dependancies. I must say I LOVE files that don't require any dependancies! That way I don't have to worry about if I have it or not, and possibly duplicating them. As for the terrain mods, I may have an issue there, too. Quite literally, I can't remember exactly which mods I have in there, and I very well could have an issue there. For those of you who only have a Gig or 2 of plugins, how do you do it? Simply the essentials nearly take up a Gig, if you count simply the NAM and mods like terrain, dependancies, subway/busstops, roundabouts, and the sort. And the variety of buildings! Geesh! Anyway, I'll just try and go back through and use the programs you reccommended to see what I can do... -

Computer Shopping, Windows 7, and SimCity 4... Oh my!

I'm the same as thefunktopus (?!) and Tommy7777 and I will crash to desktop if I try to do anything to intensive. If I have too much water and seawalls, or hills and walls, it won't even load the map. Crash. I personally think that Windows 7 sucks because if you do ANYTHING with flash or heavy graphics... even sites with trailers or even youtube, the sucker will go blue screen on me. When I bought my computer, I originally bought a Dell, and I thought it was the Dell, so I took it back, *****ing up a storm. They gave me an HP in return, but, I am still having the same problems with SC4 and the web. Even if I try to burn a movie as I'm downloading another, freeking blue screen! Windows 7 sucks. Please give me XP back. -

Whenever I try to build a Rail line, I get brown boxes all over the completed rail. I just reinstalled all of my plugins, but, I can't figure out which one I'm missing that would cause such a mess... HELP?! AAAAGGHHH!!!!

We'll see. I loaded it, now, if I can just get the game to stay loaded long enough before it CTD. See the thread below this one for my need of assistance on that!!!!!!
