Long time no news from this thread. How's the work coming along Bombardiere? I'm still avidly following your BATs. -

London vs New York City
Mike the Mayor replied to cmdp123789's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
London definitely. Although, there's a real shortage of British BATs about so a lot of room for creativity and imagination. -

Wow, they've come out great, really liking them! One can have so much fun with townhouses as there are so many variations, styles, colours etc. -
Bombardiere's London/ English Bats
Mike the Mayor replied to Bombardiere's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
You mean too big? I didn't think they were too bad at all, my only gripe is that haarlemmergold's are so close to the road / vanderaap's are further back, so they can't be used instantly together. Other than that I love them. Love the look of the terrace above though, very Bloomsbury-esque. Watching this thread with enthusiasm. -
Superb work on these UK building mntoes, keep them coming. I second the cmdp's comment about city townhouses, there's a real shortage of them on the STEX. Keep up the great BATs.

Bombardiere's London/ English Bats
Mike the Mayor replied to Bombardiere's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Yes yes yes! Finally - a BATter doing English buildings. I'm really looking forward to seeing your productions after the tasters you've given here. The buildings on the page before look brilliant. We could really do with some decent English terraces as I think the closest thing to them at the moment to the right scale are Vanderaap's wonderful Amsterdam buildings. Great looking props too! -
Would anyone happen to know where I could find a pack of Mexican palatial buildings on the STEX. One exists because I have downloaded it before but now can't find it anywhere. I think they are Mexico City BATs but can't remember exactly. If anyone could help that would be great.

[Solved] Sim City on Windows 8
Mike the Mayor replied to BrandonThomason's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
There's no need: SC4 Deluxe = Original game + RH. The Rush Hour expansion is only really useful if you've got the original game. It can't be installed separately. It is?! I thought Rush Hour was even more than the Deluxe Edition. So the Deluxe Edition will run exactly the same as Rush Hour? -
[Solved] Sim City on Windows 8
Mike the Mayor replied to BrandonThomason's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
That's worth knowing. Everything else is considerably fiddly but this sounds favourable as everything I've tried doesn't change anything (I have had exactly the same problem as Brandon Thomason). I go through the two SC4 Deluxe Edition discs to install then follow on with the Rush Hour disc and nothing happens except the starting picture of the bridge... then nothing. If one were to download a copy of the digital download of the Deluxe Edition, can you then install the Rush Hour from disc over the top? -
How to configure SC4 to work with your new hardware
Mike the Mayor replied to Morofry's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Are there any tutorials for those on Windows 8.1? Having just bought a new computer with this system on it, I can't get SC4RH to load at all - it is installed but without a logo anywhere to click and just won't start. -

Anyone up to the job of just some bog standard British terraces? There are some fantastic mainland European ones but hardly any central city-inner city ones on the STEX. Here are some examples: https://environment7.uwe.ac.uk/resources/constructionsample/Conweb/walls/brick_albemarle.jpg http://viajeslondres.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/viajeslondres_Estudiar-ingles-bristol.jpg http://www.studylets.co.uk/userimage?imageid=223 http://www.bdonline.co.uk/Pictures/web/f/o/b/Cliftonwe_620.jpg http://media.rightmove.co.uk/24k/23297/24498597/23297_2660161_IMG_00_0002.jpg http://www.rolandharmer.co.uk/images/subjects/watercolours/large/w.large.4.jpg http://files.myopera.com/shaun127/albums/3714822/Brunswick%20square%20-%20c1770.jpg http://www.epicuk.com/portfolio_uk/22-25queensquare_bristol/images/0.jpg http://holeinthedonut.smugmug.com/DailyPhotos/HITD-Daily-Photos/i-s82rF5w/0/L/England-Bristol-Queen-Square-L.jpg http://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/01/00/11/1001107_b9ba0465.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3517/4042441323_cde5b804be.jpg Hopefully these have given some ideas. These would really add immense value to the game as they are the kind of building that can be repeated across large areas rather than a single-plotted landmark. SC4 is in short supply of British terraces and with so much variety and simplicity, more should be on the STEX. At least then I would be able to get back to playing SC4 more often. Any help is much appreciated from one of the many fantastic BATters out there, Thanks.

Absolutely amazing! So realistic and great work with the old city within the walls. I've noticed quite a few buildings in your city that I don't know how to find but they certainly look great here. Well done! :)

BRISTOL - Sir Humphry Davy's House, Dowry Square Dear all European/British BATters: Description: Sir Humphry Davy was an English chemist and inventor. He is probably best remembered today for his discoveries of several alkali and alkaline earth metals, as well as contributions to the discoveries of the elemental nature of chlorine and iodine. He lived in 10 Dowry Square, in the Hotwells area of Bristol during his time at the Pneumatic Institution for investigating the medical powers of factitious airs and gases. The house is Georgian in style but its slightly quirky appearance, in turquoise blue and partially covered in Wisteria, makes it stand out from the rest of the buildings that form this delightful residential square. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: To fulfil more than my own request, this is just one example of many types of British townhouses from the Georgian era, of which there is a considerable lack on the STEX, in comparison to the fantastic works from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Poland. BRISTOL - Queen Anne House, Queen Square Dear all European/British BATters: Description: Queen Anne House is one of the newer buildings in Queen Square, Bristol in what is otherwise a Georgian square. This side of the square was badly damaged by riots and fire so this replacement building was constructed in its place during the 1800s in typical Bath sandstone rather than the more prevalent red brick that comprises the majority of other Georgian buildings in the area. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: To fulfil more than my own request, this is just one example of many types of British townhouses from the Georgian era, of which there is a considerable lack on the STEX, in comparison to the fantastic works from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Poland. BRISTOL - Central Library & Abbey Gatehouse Dear all European/British BATters: Description: Bristol Central Library is a historic building on the south side of College Green near the centre of the city. The adjoining gatehouse dates back to the 16th century but this is not the original work and was majorly refurbished during the 19th century, perhaps creating a more ornate appearance than the original construction. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: This would be a fantastic edition to almost any type of city as a civic building, either as a library, maybe a courthouse or perhaps a building with jobs. The gatehouse would make a great entrance to a historic street or part of a W2W series in a historic city, such as the one I am trying to make with as many British-resemblent buildings as possible.

Still patiently waiting for some British style Georgian-Victorian terraced housing. My SC4 playing is sort of on hold until I can start making a realistic 1900s British city. Doesn't quite look right with the fantastic Dutch works of haarlemergold and Vanderaap. Anyone up to the job. I have put some examples on page 19 of London and Bristol terraces. Many thanks and Merry Christmas to all!
