AusNZ's car culture is incredibly fun, and I am honored to bring a little bit of this to SimCity 4! Holden was GM's marquee brand for a long time in Oceania, until they shut it down in early 2020 in favor of Chevrolet in what is (imo) a soulless venture capitalist decision. Currently, there are a few dealerships that retain the Holden branding in Australia, because many people still drive Holden cars as it is a beloved brand filled with national pride. Most Holden dealerships have been converted to other marques, or are GMSV (GM Special Vehicles) dealerships now, for imported US vehicles like Chevrolet (Australia and New Zealand, in addition, is a wonderful place to visit, and you should all check out the Utes in person sometime). If you're doing an Australian or New Zealand region, this is a car dealer you can use for those needs to mix with the Asian marques. This one is based off the dealer near the Essendon airport in Melbourne, built in the late 2010s right before American GM decided to end the Holden brand (lol). It includes 150 new props of mostly the history of the Holden Commodore from about 1980 to on, including the Ute and the station wagon variants, as a little preview for the new Mega Prop pack I am working on. CS$$6x5 stage 1, with two 6x6 plops. Coe Holden Garry Holden (named after GarryG of OpenTTD fame who's AuzObjects is legendary) Walcott Holden Aussie Best Holden (w/ Australian flag and theming) Kiwi Best Holden (w/ NZ flag and theming) A blank version is included as well. Here are 63 Australian & New Zealand retail buildings for your cities. A few are actually UK/IE retailers, but because I had no plans to do a UK/IE version, I put them in this (their retailers have some overlap with each other). The growable lots are CS$$ Stage 3 3x6, and the larger retailers there also have a plop lot that is 7x6. If you use lotplop, you can put each 3x6 grow building back to back to make a cool dual retail center, similar to shopping centers in ANZ which are quite modular in real life. There are also a few new sign, car and billboard props that I made for this set as well, so you can make a more accurate Antipodean city. These buildings go quite well not only with the Aussie/NZ gas stations and some of the Aussie/NZ plazas I have done in the past, but also with @deadwoods and @mattb325's buildings from there. Tree Farm, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- These are two Eucalyptus tree farms. From Australia to Europe and Britain, Guangdong to California, Brazil to Pretoria, Eucalyptus trees are often farmed for the express purpose of making wood pulp. These trees are quick growing and despite their propensity to drop branches and topple in storms, their timber is durable. Loved and hated in both Australia and abroad, Eucalyptus trees trace their lineage back to the Gondwanaland super-continent with all the fossil evidence (dating back about 60 million years) showing that Eucalyptus evolved somewhere around present day Argentina/Uruguay and spread eastwards some 180-50 million years ago. This was when South America was joined to South Australia via Antarctica. Ironically, in their ancestral home, Eucalyptus trees are now considered a monumental pest in South America and many other parts of the world. Just like Australian actors, they are everywhere. Theses farm lots are arranged with a cute, but modest house and the house and outbuildings are set well back from the road via a long driveway. One of the things that bugs me about farms in SC4 is that the farm buildings are right on the roadside: something rarely seen in real life. These are not designed to grow too frequently (assuming you have other custom farms in your plugins). It also comes with a brand new type of farm field for the Eucalyptus tree prop family. Mattb325 Edit April 6 2021: It has been reported where if you de-zone or zone over the top of the grown fields (eg to make residential areas for instance), the trees remain in place: simply bulldoze them after dezoning. Similarly, you need to dezone the entire area first prior to bulldozing the fields. --------------------------------------- STATS I-AG: Lot size : 3x8 & 4x6 Growth Stage: 1 (Agricultural zoning) Bulldoze Cost: $ 121 Capacity Satisfied: I-Ag 8 Pollution: 1 (Air)/ 1 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 2 Mwh Water Consumed: 15 Gal/Month Occupant Group: Low Wealth Agriculture --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download is a lot and contains no models. However, the dependency will require you to choose between a Maxis nite model and a Darknite model. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. Hungry Jacks, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Hungry Jacks is the franchised Australian version of the better-known American Burger King. In 1971 the parent company Pillsbury provided franchisee Jack Cowin with a list of names that the company had already trademarked, and he choose Hungry Jack (the name of Pillsbury's pancake mix). Hungry Jacks and Burger King have often had a fraught relationship and during the late 1990's were embroiled in a five year court battle. Australia has the most complex corporate governance, tort and contract laws in the world, and despite Burger King's massive legal clout, they lost their case and decided to terminate their operations in Australia and transferred the Hungry Jacks assets to their New Zealand franchise group under a master Franchise Agreement. Hungry Jacks has been operating nationally ever since. This BAT represents their newer style of restaurant. Angled walls and 45 degree car-parking help break up the grid. This is a CS$$ bat that will grow early on in your cities development stage provided you have sufficient demand. It provides 29 jobs. If you have downloaded my McDonalds restaurant, then the Hungry Jacks will compete on similar lot sizes (just like in real life). It comes in three diferent lot sizes: 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5 (all are corner lots only). It grows on all tilesets. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot Size: 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5 Growth Stage: 1 Zone Type: Low, Medium and High Density Bulldoze Cost: $130 Demand Satisfied: CS$ 105; CS$$ 29. Pollution at Centre: 1 (air) /1 (water) /4 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 3 Mwh Water Consumed: 29 Gallons Occupant Groups: Commercial Services; Chicago; New York; Houston; Euro; BSC; BSC-Mattb325 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one is for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos or Mashty's night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must select and install only one file - depending on which night version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. I've been very excited about this brand new residential building in Geelong, Victoria State, Australia. The construction of the real World Mercer was completed in November 2019. I did my best to give a fair rendering of this Australian luxury condominium. 4x4 tiles Format: .bld Dimensions: 4x4 Intended zone type: Residential Place into SimCity 3000 Unlimited/Buildings/ to install. -
Sydney Bushfires — December 2019 You've probably been hearing about my home city of Sydney, Australia, in the news. Yes, it's bad, and this is just the start of summer down here. That picture is new, taken yesterday, just 60km from my house, but pictures like that one are not new. We are no strangers to bushfire risks in Australia, just like some people live with flood risks or tornado risks, we have bushfire risks. Some locations are bushfire prone ... well, actually, many locations are. The main cities are generally safe, however. The locations of the bushfires hasn't changed, yet, but the vast areas occupied by our current fires is unprecedented, causing unprecedented levels of air pollution. That's our iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, yesterday, and just see if you can spot the Sydney Opera House on the left side of that photo. We've never had this, ever. For a couple days, we became the most polluted city on the planet. The daily pollution levels can also be seen on this air pollution graph from where I live, close to the geographic centre of Sydney. That's two years of air pollution data right there. If we could go back 10 years, or 20 years, the results would look very similar. November 2019 and December 2019 have unprecedented levels of air pollution, and this is the reason why. The big white and yellow area on the map, is the Sydney metropolitan area, our largest city, home to 5½ million people, much of it low density urban sprawl, 65km across. The grey shaded areas, are our current bushfires ... yes, the bushfires are bigger than our largest city. That's why we have so much air pollution at the moment. The sheer immensity of these fires surpasses everything in Australia's recorded history. The two fires, south-west and north-west, are in danger of merging tomorrow on the tail end of Australia's record breaking heatwave this week. Four of the major highways out of Sydney are now closed. My home is not threatened, but there is nail-biting nervousness, because spot fires have been sprouting up all over the city, each one put out quickly, so far. The homes that are threatened are in the south west of the Sydney metropolitan areas, 20-40 homes lost yesterday, many more at risk tomorrow. Hundreds or maybe thousands at risk in the green areas on the mountains, where the fires are starting to encroach. There's literally 101 bushfires currently burning across my home state of New South Wales, Australia, and many more across the rest of Australia. The earliest bushfires started in August, and are still burning. Usually. November/December is the beginning of bushfire season. The size and number of current bushfires seem more like the climax of the bushfire season, but instead, we're at the beginning of one. These are beyond our ability to put out. We need rain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–20_Australian_bushfire_season "As of 15 December 2019, the fires have burnt over 3,000,000 hectares, destroyed over 700 houses and claimed 8 lives." Down here, our summer ends at the end of February.

Welcome to Hobart, a city of about 200k (in real life) on Tasmania Island, Australia. The River Derwent cuts through the center of the map leaving plenty of building space on either side and lots of opportunities for bridges and tunnels. This map should prove fairly easy to build on, with flat, fertile expanses leading to riverside beach heads, some gentle and some not-so-gentle slopes leading into the mountains rich with ore. Add to that a few spots for oil production and 145,000 trees for forestry, and you'll have industry opportunities galore. Of course, all transport types are connected. I experimented with terrain textures again, and if you like the textures and colors in the map above, here's what you'll need: Terrain Texture Replacer mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416966387&searchtext=terrain+texture Texture Set: http://imgur.com/a/krTtf Photoreal LUT: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=408932281 Cheers! -

Let's play on this map of Australia! Not as big as the real country, but still a fun replica for Cities Skylines. There is fertile land, oil and some ore placed around the map. I think it's fun to try making smaller cities around the map, but choose the way you want to play it. To be able to play the whole map, you need to have the All Slots unlocked mod . Hope everyone likes the map! Cheers Jonas Installation Place the .crp file in AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Maps -

A trio of futuristic residential skyscrapers designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid are planned to rise along the waterfront in Brisbane, Australia. The problem is, the site was the location of an uranium processing plant and the last occupant, Australia's ABC radio network, left because of concerns over radiation contamination. Try doing that in Sim City. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/09/these-alien-skyscrapers-will-rest-on-the-site-of-an-old-uranium-plant-in-brisbane/
