"Panzer General" has claimed more than it's share of my time -- and I do like the "After Action Reports"......

But SC4 has such a wide variety of "niche" styles --

Bit like "apples to oranges", isn't it ??

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

It's located in CP Props pack vol 2. Also if you're interested about Neko's cherry trees (which I rather quite like) They're in Neko props pack Volume 1 and Volume 3 *:)

Btw, in case you're interested I've updated the handy NUTs props and texture catalog over at SC4Devotion. This can help you find some props easily and fast. *:thumb:

If I can cast a quick vote, I would definitely use Neko's cherry trees if you can. I believe the VIP ones aren't fully seasonal, and CP's cherry tree has a few disadvantages (it's standard def, and it has a very distinctive shape, so it might look unnatural if it repeats itself across the city). Neko's trees (including his other species) are some of the best mid-height HD trees around.

Hi all. I'm fond of this building I made but I'm having a recurring issue with diagonal builds. I'm very careful not to overlap the boundaries but somehow all of my WTW models have graphical clipping issues. What causes this issue? How might I be able to solve this?

I can provide more info as needed. This issue is one of my last barriers to releasing this item and many more!

Hiya @Sloppyjoemess, Impressive work!*:thumb:

I'm just basing my guess on this part, It seems like the model is diagonal whereas the LODs are still perpendicular, I don't know how to check it out with Sketchup (i'm only familiar with 3ds max), but i thought you may can take a look at LOD3~5 in gmax, Besides,@WolfZe should be able to give you more better advices on Sketchup modeling. Good Luck!:}

@11241036 Ok dude! smart and simple solution. So, it seems that the grass area is just a prop. I was thinking that was a texture mixed with the road. Thanks for that!! :thumb:

@Sloppyjoemess completely agree with Raymond on that issue, it's probably a LODs issue. Gmax and also 3dsmax as far as i know will generate automatical perpendicular LODs, that's most probably the reason why here it appears like the building at the top covers the other one with a large invisible cube turned perpendicular. That's the LOD. You just need to make it diagonal too and fitting the model as close as possible ;)

Thanks Raymond. This is my first time hearing about LODs. What is an LOD?

PG Forever is much better than the original. A fan based remake without all the bugs of the old DOS version. And you can mod it yourself with easy tools like Notepad, Excel and photoshop. I think the strategy is just as good as SC4, if you can live with a hex-based game in an era of 3D.

Ah, @Sloppyjoemess I really don't want to mislead you by my awful English, *:blush:so here below are some good references:

LODS (Level of Detail Models) should be created for whatever it is your are trying to import as well. It's what keeps the game optimized when you are zoomed out by switching the models to a lower triangle count version and it will swap back to the larger more detailed model when you zoom back in. This is to keep your fps higher.

So generally speaking, LOD is actually what your model shows on in SC4. Your model is "projected" onto the sides of this box. Our models (except True3d model) they are just 2D in game.

If you take a look at any Lot with reader, it's pretty normal when clicking a s3d file,

However with wireframe and rotate it a bit:

You can tell the truth now.

Besides i suggest you have a look at this great thread by @Jasoncw.

I hope those help.:}

Sincerely,

-- Raymond

Yo, guy --

It is, as games go, a VERY good game.  And they have done wonders with it. *:thumb:

I have tried almost all of the war games -- in all periods -- and find it to be one of my favorites.  Some of the best games are hex-based.  I am even quite partial to a very old favorite -- Sid Meier's Gettysburg -- which is "tactical" and anything but a modern 3D wargame.

But I think of SC4 more as an "architectural" game with serious claims as a "city-builder".  I very much like being able to put together interesting architectural elements while building a city that suits my "green-livable" goals.  The game has a distinctive "creative streak" and only requires the initial game disk and truck-loads of my time.

Wargames, on the other hand, allow me to indulge my instinct to DESTROY an enemy *:ohyes: while the "strategy" element is an added and much welcomed bonus!
