Old Orlando City Hall, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a built-up area is by having a large variety of civic buildings: it really does help keep the game fresh and can provide that all important sense of place. Originally posted in the BAT Request thread, this BAT is based on the Old Orlando City Hall. Completed in 1958, it was spectacularly demolished by implosion in 1991. The rights of this implosion were sold to Warner Bros (who used it in Lethal Weapon) for $50,000. This helped offset the demolition costs. This 8-floor building with two asymmetrical balanced lower wings is typical of many mid-century public American buildings. They were solidly built with quality materials: limestone, marble and pink granite. The utilitarian nature of the architecture was given a small amount of grace with recessed windows set behind thickly raised granite window treatments. This decoration was also useful in keeping the hot southern sun from hitting the glass. This building is offered as a non-conditional Town Hall reward. It provides 986 very desirable civic jobs and has all of the benefits (commercial and residential boost) of a town hall. Placing this building should see residential and commercial sky scrapers grow more easily in your city (assuming all other factors are met). For this benefit you will pay $350 per month. This Town Hall is: * Offered as a reward without needing to meet pre-existing conditions. * Located in the REWARD Menu * Can be placed more than once in a city. * It DOES NOT over-write the ingame town hall (or any re-lotted versions there-of), so can be used in conjunction with the standard Maxis town hall reward. * It DOES NOT over-write any of my other town hall lots (so can be used in conjunction with these as well). --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 6x4 Plop Cost: $47,000 Monthly Cost: $350 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Courthouse, YIMBY Demand Created: Jobs$: 323, Jobs$$: 452, Jobs$$$: 211. Sioux Falls City Hall, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a built-up area is by having a large variety of civic buildings: it really does help keep the game fresh and can provide that all important sense of place. Originally posted in the BAT Request thread, this BAT is based on the Sioux Falls City Hall. Completed in 1936, it cost $432,000 (about $8,100,000 in today's money). It originally housed the police, health and water departments, the judicial offices, a jail, a garage and auditorium. The building is of so-called fire-proof construction, made of a steel frame, reinforced concrete floors and reinforced concrete roof slabs. It is constructed in the streamline moderne (a successor to art-deco) style with a brick and granite facade. This BAT is useful for smaller towns and suburban areas (especially US themed ones) where you wish to place a town hall that doesn't completely draw attention to itself. This building is offered as a non-conditional Town Hall reward. It provides 65 very desirable civic jobs and has all of the benefits (commercial and residential boost) of a town hall. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 4x4 Plop Cost: $14,000 Monthly Cost: $150 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Courthouse, BSC-Mattb325, BSC Demand Created: Jobs$: 8, Jobs$$: 53, Jobs$$$: 4. 4. Meeting Hall

    Version 1.0.0

Meeting Hall, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- An old style meeting hall for your cities and towns. In many smaller towns and larger cities, meeting halls often took the place of the Town Hall. They were an important part of civic life, and while many had a quasi-religous purpose, many were purely non-sectarian. This colonnaded Italianate building with its little tower is offered as a non-conditional reward and is a modified version of the Town Hall reward. In addition to providing your sims with highly desirable civic jobs, it has also been modded to provide residential and commercial cap relief by providing both Park and Landmark effects. All these benefits do have a small cost. In addition to the §8K outlay, this will set the city back §85 per month. * It is offered as a reward without needing pre-existing conditions. * It is located in the REWARD Menu. * It can be placed more than once in a city. * It DOES NOT over-write the ingame Town Hall (or any re-lotted versions there-of), so can be used in conjunction with the standard Maxis reward. Placing rewards is an essential part of growing a large city and region, given their cap-busting and desirability increasing effects. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 2x3 Plop Cost: §8,000 Monthly Cost: §85 Bulldoze Cost: §2,460 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Courthouse, Civic Demand Created: Jobs§: 4, Jobs§§: 46, Jobs§§§: 6. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot File! If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. 6. Diagonal Town Hall

    Version 1.0.0

National Audit Office Diagonal Town Hall, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a built-up area is by having a large variety of civic buildings: it really does help keep the game fresh and can provide that all important sense of place. This BAT is based on the National Audit Office in London. The original building was actually an airport terminal for the Imperial Airways (later BOAC) aeroplane and flying boat services: passengers would check in at this convenient and central London location, be provided with cocktails and canapes while they waited to be transported by coach to either Croydon airport or Southampton dock for their flight. The building has been designed to be placed along diagonal roads/avenues. Even after all of these years, there are very few diagonal buildings available. The lot size is 1x2 but the building overhangs across 6 tiles. Therefore, once the building is placed, use adjacent zoning, ped-mall and park filler pieces to hide the basic ground. This building is offered as a non-conditional Town Hall reward. It provides 480 very desirable civic jobs and has all of the benefits (commercial and residential boost) of a town hall. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 1x2 (Overhanging) Plop Cost: §10,000 Monthly Cost: §60 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Courthouse Demand Created: Jobs§: 150, Jobs§§: 250, Jobs§§§: 80. 7. Renet Arrivals

¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Dear and beloved readers. Today the Editors Team reports the urban actuality of the capital's south District: Renet. As a essential character, the Renet Central Pacific Station permeates towards the district's main square, a urban technic as well achieved in the Old Historic Cliff at Tarrë. This characteristic, as important as necessary, is the thriving engine for Renet's economy and connection to the Central District. This classic architectonic model works out as the hub on the downtown área, so for this chance, and for the exhibition of this vital quarter we'll go around the Renet's main square. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ In fact, we've just arrived a day after a national referendum towards a massive political decision: the Saint Mirre International Airport, to be located southeast Renet. You may comprehend this choice as a leitmotif for Tarrë's National Development Plan, an opportunity for a position into the global schema. Just imagine the pros & cons. Tarrë's National Airport (TAX) just north of the Central District has just began to face it's peak in capacity and space (as the capital reclaims for more buildable areas, avoiding the inhospitable and culturally sacred mountain creeks that surround the valley). This may be the first major oppotunity for a whole nation. More news on that, soon. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ And, as for the first time ever on the chronicles series, the national emblem, Tarrë's Republic Flag. A mis-match, between a red and white colors, and a nation-wide shield, just sitting over the Renet Mayoralty. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ We'll finish this trip just south of this downtown, a transition towards the less dense areas are the Canals, history of some marsh, and now a beautiful local park. In fact, recently it won a national contest on the most-visited urban parks, who may say… ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Thanks: - @ByeByeBayou I'm glad you liked the Gif's, I've been experimenting with them, hope they get better!
  8. Perth Council Building

    Version 1.0

Perth Council Building, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Inspired by the Council Building in Perth's Stirling Gardens, here is another iconic early 1960's building. This is an example of the modernist style with Bauhaus leanings, and has distinctive external 'T' shaped sun-shades in alternating patterns over the curtain glass wall to block out the hot Western Australian sun. Conversely, the roof area has a perspex covered walkway which I imagine would be about as comfortable as an ant under a magnifying glass in the broiling summer heat! It is with the 'T' shaped awnings that I taken most of the liberties with this building; reducing the width of the top part of the 'T' to ensure that each sun-shade is clearly visible in game rather than blurring into one. The real-life building was actually slated for demolition in the 1990's, but was saved and renovated as well as adding one extra floor at the top of the building. Recently, the building was also fitted thousands of coloured leds: hence, the unusual, and prettily-coloured night-lights. This BAT functions as a government building and town hall in game. In addition to providing your sims with 185 highly desirable civic jobs, it will help alleviate the commercial demand caps that can hinder city development. Given the way that the game is designed, in addition to providing health, education, safety, etc, using rewards is an absolutely necessary part of being able to develop large cities and regions. It sits on a 5x3 lot and will easily blend in with other park lots (such as the SFBT mid-wealth set) that use the Maxis R$$ plain grass. Similarly, given the fact that the building is 13 floors high, it will also work well in a dense city environment. * It is offered as a reward without needing to meet pre-existing conditions. * It is located in the REWARD Menu * It can be placed more than once in a city. * It DOES NOT over-write the ingame town hall (or any re-lotted versions there-of), so can be used in conjunction with the standard Maxis town hall reward. * It DOES NOT over-write any of my other town hall lots (so can be used in conjunction with these as well). --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 5 x 3 Plop Cost: §47,000 Monthly Cost: §1,170 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Courthouse Demand Created: Jobs§: 23, Jobs§§: 151, Jobs§§§: 11. You must choose only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. If you wish to add parking textures, please do so using the lot editor and keep your negativity to yourself. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder. 10. What... something has to look nice in this game.
  11. Anyone have the issue where you add a department of safety wing to your town hall but you are not approved for a police precinct, a large fire department or a hospital because it the box for department of safety is not checked? I've thought about bulldozing the town hall to see if that fixed it, but I'm afraid it'll mess up something. I have other wings (department of utilities etc)...
