The return of The_New_Thing

And now for something pretty-much the same... And now for something pretty-much the same.... And now for something pretty- much the same... Ok, my connection is as dodgy as a paper plane in a rainstorm, as useful as a raincoat in a swimming pool, as reliable as a london bus, following a scoda, following a sloth with two broken legs and a acceleration allergy. And photobucket are still making my screenshots look like the literal interpretation of guerillas in the mist, minus the guerillas, and the mist. As you can see, the shops are done, I'm doing the insides of the shops now and roof stuff. I've also been trying some textures, The top one based on part of London called the Barbican, the one below is based on tottingham court road, and the other two are just things..... you know.... things.... -

And now for something completely different..... After many false starts, avoiding simcity4 like the swine flu, and sitting around for a bit. I've restarted production of my Gmax BAT abominations, sick, twisted, mind-meltingly, psychosis-enducingly weird things. They have some walls and a roof, some people call them buildings, I personally prefer to refer to them by the previously mentioned name. Above is the result my labor, old building parts "recovered" from the architectural graveyard and no small amount of lightning. it's....It's......IT's.....IT'S... a 1960's style "brutalist" combined office block/ shoping complex. The shops will be located under the sticky-outey bit on the left. The textures are going to be mainly concrete and glass, photobucket butchered my screenshot so you can't see the detail here, but it really does have nicely done window frames and other details, I'll try to get a better picture next week on the the detail and the textures when they're done and dusted (for prints and prince, the artist formaly known as). -

It's not a train tunnel, but something a bit like it... a viaduct. Well, when I say "like it" I mean....not. I know there is a few of these floating around on the exchange but only one seems to be complete, but that one is a grass hill. I'm going to try to make a complete set including the diagonals and old iron bridges. You probably can't see from this picture but I changed the texture (some of the bricks are redish now). -

I've had some texture and night light problems with the building, so it's been put it on the backburner for a while. I started updating the old terraces with new textures aswell as fixing some of the problems in gmax itself, but every time I thought it was finished another problem appeared, so I got bored of it and started this. Can you see what it is yet? -
Nice! I like the "grimy" stuff you've been making recently. I think that man on the floor needs a change of cloths, although he probably dosn't have much more than he's already wearing. How do you get the wall to look so real? Is the texture a real photo?

I didn't get alot done last night but I think the hardest part is over. As you can see the back wall has a realy big window, it's supposed to be a window for the emgency stairs. But I'll probably replace it with some smaller windows and an external fire escape. On the top I've added some railings to stop sims falling onto the barol roof, they are notoriously unstable. I saw it on tv so it must be true edit: It's not gonna be wall to wall, it'll have a backstreet where a number of crimes will be comitted on a daily basis just like real life. -

Here's an update. I added some horizontal lines to the builing in order to visualy "tie" the building together, like a ribbon on a cake. For the top I'm thinking a slightly rusty barol roof and maybe a rooftop garden. -

I'm planing on remaking the georgain terraces sometime, I want to randomise them on the lot and fix the back part of the model. Thats if I can ever get round to it. At the moment I'm not realy sure exactly what I'm doing with this model, I'm gonna try something tonight. When I started it I was thinking of a very tall, thin corner tower, but it's going a bit different to what I thought but I think this is different enough for both this and the original building idea to work together. -
A while ago I made some bad BATs, then some ok BATs and now I'm trying to make good BATs.Last night I started something I think'll turn out well, but at this point it could go either way. It's gonna have Maxis random shops at the bottom insted of "BATed" shops.

Estates actully work for a while, but in the 1970s-1980s maintenace funding was droped. The thinking from government was that if somethings broken, pretend it isn't. The thinking on the estates was that if something is broken and isn't getting fixed, you might as well brake it more (there was nothing else to do). That cuppled with the confusing mase-like layout broght on a no way out feeling that made people give up on work and turn to crime, drugs. We drive on the left because if you where on a horse and your enemy passes, you can draw your sword on them with your right hand.

He calls himself the nutty sim for a reason. I think he wants to build up some awareness of his CJ before he starts showing it. Anyway there are loads of CJs that start like this, and end up being the best around. So we should just wait patiently and stop complaining.

I like all of them They're all very well made, but you should change a few textures, like the light part of the tower block (it should be a bit lighter at the bottom of the tower) and the roof of the blue thing (it should be a bit darker) and the siding on the apartment should be slightly less green. The yellow tower block is perfect.
