13 years ago, I uploaded Generic Office Pack #1, which was initially supposed to contain five buildings. I only wound up including two of them, although @gutterclub did kindly finish off a third recently. I never really expected there to be a part two, but here we are. This pack contains 15 models; an orthogonal, diagonal, and FAR version of 5 different buildings. All versions have different IIDs, so they can be used at the same time. The orthogonal versions are available in both growable and ploppable varieties, all sit on either 5x6 or 6x6 lots, and provide between 174 and 466 CO$$ jobs. The diagonal and FAR versions are available in overhanging ploppable 1x1 lots, which provide the same number of jobs. I have also included prop exemplars for all models for your convenience. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided for all models. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies (for the orthogonal lots only): SuperSHK MEGA Parking Textures SHK Parking Pack BSC Common Dependencies Pack (specifically CP Vol01 and CP Vol02) The diagonal and FAR versions have no dependencies. I initially learned how to BAT so I could make generic buildings like this. I like this particular group because they all fall just short of being boring. Enjoy! -

Designed by the late Frank Gehry and completed in 2001, the Gehry Tower (or, as I prefer to call it, the Gehryturm) is a small tower located in Hanover, Germany. I loved Frank Gehry when I was a kid, so when he passed in December, I thought it would be fun to do a tribute BAT. Unfortunately, this is Frank Gehry we're talking about here and not Gordon Bunshaft, so choosing a feasible building wasn't easy. This building sits on a 2x1 lot and comes in growable and ploppable CS$$$ varieties. It's kind of a W2W, but the twist means that the top hangs over the lot boundaries by a few meters, so you'll probably want to place it next to a shorter building to avoid clipping. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: BSC Common Dependencies Pack (specifically BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01, and BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol02) Enjoy! -

Good to see you around man -
As a BATter, I know this feeling all too well Honestly, I think it works though. I see what you're saying, but I still think it looks pretty good. The middle rail sells it for me.

Finally wrapping up the Gehry This one was a bit of a bastard to model (there's a reason all of my BATs are basically just boxes) but I had a lot of fun doing it. I'm pleased with the way the metal material looks at night. Might brighten all of the lights a nit, but otherwise I'll probably sleep on it and export if I still like it in the morning. I think I posted these office buildings before but with the site crash I forget if I ever put them here (I know I showed them on Discord at one point). All of them have been exported, just need to lot them (yay). I'll probably wind up creating proper lots for the ortho versions and just make the diag/FAR versions into 1X1 overhanging lots. We'll see how much patience I have though. I'm working on some far weirder stuff in the meantime, and I'm hoping to have more to show soon. I just got back from Japan and now my to-do list is at least a few dozen items longer. So it goes.

I'd love to help with processing and verifying. I rarely download anything these days, so unfortunately I'm not much help there.- 63 Replies

I think it looks pretty damn good. I really like the way the metal looks. The little bit of shadow you see from the metal panels being slightly inset really sells it.

I'm definitely not an AI fan, but curiosity got the best of me, so I coughed up a few bucks and downloaded both packs. I will say, the results are largely as advertised, although with some pretty obvious differences. I'll concede that some of this may be user error, as I just downloaded Blender and installed BAT4Blender for the very first time tonight (my initial attempts at bringing these models into BAT4Max didn't go very well). Here's are a couple side-by-side examples of what is advertised vs. what you actually get. Again, total noob here, so someone with more experience could probably wrangle this better than I can, but the downloadable models are less refined than what is shown in the screenshots. As a jaded old man, I was honestly expecting to be scammed, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that these are actually 3D models. That being said, they're basically impossible to modify at all in their current form. Here's an example of one of the 3D meshes: Some of the others are missing big chunks of geometry: Needless to say, I won't quit BATting anytime soon, but this was a fun curiosity.

This pavilion, based on one in my neck of the woods, provides ample sheltered seating for your picnicking sims. It sits on a 3x2 lot and can be found in the parks menu. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: None Enjoy! -
Thanks Jason, you're spot on about that I'll be returning to this one soon. All that's left is the annex and a bit of work on the roof, as well as figuring out the lotting. The base of the tower is already right at 16x16m, so accounting for a 1.6m W2W setback and the addition of the annex, it will probably need to be a 2x2. Taking it pretty easy this month. Lots of stuff cooking, but this little picnic shelter will probably be the final release of the year. I also just upgraded my CPU, which has already improved render times substantially. Some of the stuff I'm working on is pretty big and shiny, so this should help make the export process a bit more bearable.

Both are good suggestions! I'm a big I.M. Pei fan, and I've been itching to do a supertall, so consider them both on my wishlist. And now for something a little different. When Frank Gehry died the other day, I thought it would be nice to make a tribute BAT, but as I was looking through his portfolio, I realized that basically everything he's ever designed would be pretty damn unpleasant to model (at least for a scrub like myself). But the Gehry Tower in Hanover, Germany was previously on my to-do list, and that seemed pretty feasible, so I took a shot at it. Still a work in progress of course, and I haven't modeled the annex on the south side yet. But the most important question is: does this look like metal?

Designed by the late Helmut Jahn and completed in 1984, this 20-ish story postmodern tower is tucked away among the government buildings of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've always thought this building had the perfect size and form to be the defining building of a mid-sized city's skyline, but its unfortunate location in real life means that it's difficult to see from most angles, forever overshadowed by its much taller neighbors. This building sits on a 4x4 lot and comes in growable and ploppable CO$$ varieties, both of which provide 2476 jobs. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: BSC Common Dependencies Pack (specifically BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01, and BSC TexturePack Cycledogg V01) Enjoy!- 7 Reviews

I appreciate that you modeled the gas lines to each of the rooftop units! I work in HVAC, so I always try to model it based on actual equipment photos I've taken. For me, it's just one of those if-you-know-you-know things that makes me appreciate it when someone takes the time to replicate it accurately. I unfortunately can't speak to the white signage and gmax's lighting, but I would say that the red neon could be a bit brighter. Could the white ones be a custom night map as well?
