Hello everyone,

I'm Lubomira aka Nepatan (Nepa) and I come from Bulgaria. I discovered Simtropolis while searching for interesting stuff and guides about Sim City 2013. I am new to city building games, but I think I learn quickly. I like strategy games and I wanted to try some city building games. So far I have Cities Skylines and Sim City 4 beside Sim City 2013. Now I am working on 2 Sim City 2013 projects and that's why I have no time for the other games yet. But it will come. :D

My occupation is office manager in the little family buisiness of my father. I play games for fun and relaxing.

I hope my english is understandable. I read in english, have my diveces with an english Operation System and with english language options and watch TV-Series and films in english, but it is a while that I wrote in english. And... I talk too much, so I leave it here :D

I'm always impressed by anyone who takes English as a second language and does so well with it, We have so many words that mean the same thing I can only imagine the difficulty associated with learning later in life.

Oh, thank you. Now you make me blush, that's not good :D

But yeah, I know, what you mean. I feel the same, when I meet someone, who has learned my language and is speaking with me in bulgarian, althrough he or she knows, that I can speak English or German (a language he or she know better). It is impressive, because Bulgarian and all slavic languages are now so easy to learn (espacially pronunciation). That makes me (and many bulgarians too) somehow excited.

And again, I talk too much :D Sorry for that. Next time, I'll send a personal message and not spam around :D

Haha awesome, learning new languages is always fun, if you want to teach, I'd love to learn.

And don't worry, you are not spamming, Spam is when someone posts things that are soliciting sales or otherwise have nothing to contribute to the conversation.

Anyways welcome to the site, Hope you enjoy your stay!

Hey guys I'm JackDuck (please tell me Jack or JD, more simple),

I'm from Pau, France (oh no, french speaker, bad english, google translate user haha). I'm 20, and I study geography and urban planning ("Géographie et Aménagement du Territoire" in french). Now I live in Québec City for a month and until christmas eve because of a student exchange between ULaval and my french university.

I've been playing SimCity 3000, SimCity 4, SimCity 2013 (beta version), City Life, Cities XL, and now I play Cities: Skylines. I'm not a new player of city-builder games, and I like some different kind of games like strategy, simulation. That's why I play RCT3, Zoo Tycoon, The Sims, Banished, Minecraft, Civilization, etc...

Maybe you know the french community Generation-City, so I come from here where I'm administrator. I'm a XLNation and SkyscraperCity member too. Sorry for my english, I know I'm not a perfect english speaker but I hope I can be understood.

See you soon !

@JackDuck

Welcome to the community!

If you're into anything city-building, this is certainly the place to be. The C:S section continues to grow, and the After Dark expansion promises to add a new spark of interest (coming this Thursday). Of course, we also have a very strong and established SC4 fanbase, not to mention the custom content.

I'm sure you'll have a great time here, and feel free to ask if you've any questions. ;)

Hello War1ock  Welcome to the site. You'll find tons of help for SC4

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Good day sirs

Sim city 2000 was one of the very first games that fully captured my imagination... I remember I couldn't wait to go to my relatives house and play it, we would stay up all night!

I've recently installed sc4 on my laptop to play this game again and mod the crap out of it :D

I have a lot of experience with games a design and art...itll be nice to add my own little tweaks to some of the mods

By the way I think what some of the guys do here is pretty damn cool... Very comparable to taking hundreds of hours to create a beautiful model in real life....designing, painting and placing each piece. And it's wonderful it's still going strong after years... May it continue with the expansion of cities:skyline, and future projects

24 year old!

Simcity 3000 world edition was my first Simcity games.
I have played SC4 a few years ago, during 2-3 years.
I had build a 3,4 million region once, with lots of forest, hills and agriculture zoned in between, it had a really realistic look, and it had a couple of mods installed.
Sadly I lost that savegame, and have no picture to supply, and I'm very sad because of this, because I would have liked to further develop it.

I'm going to start over when my Simcity 4 cd/dvd box drops through my letter box in the following days, because I lost the original cd to, and only have a old Steam download Key for simcity 4, but this cannot be installed on Linux so this game is going to cost me a little bit of money even although I already bought it twice in the past. A bit of a waste haha.

Hope I can enjoy asking questions or even answering others in the long run, assuming this game never dies. Which is what I'm surprised about, the still persisting traffic on a city simulation game that's more then 10 years old.
Have a nice day!

Welcome to Simtropolis both of you! :)

It's never too late to enter the world of SimCity 4. The game is timeless, and there's really endless ways to explore and create.

@FooFox

Cool, it must be quite rare to find the CD version nowadays. Just be sure to pick up those official patches (EP1 update and the nightlights). These are required for most custom content to work properly.

If you've any questions, feel free to ask around. Even after all these years, SC4 remains a key focus of the community. ;)

Mine is ordered from E-bay, and it should arrive early next week.

A nonny moose has Pm'd me about the necessary patches, fixes, and Linux specific scripts and procedures to get the CD version working. Thanks for reminding though...
I understand by now that a online non-DRM version of SC4 deluxe would have been a easier choice. But I'm not particularly unsatisfied with my decision in buying the physical CD's, even although it requires more work.

I was wondering about something and since I'm discussing the CD version I wonder whether it's possible to create a mini image of the simcity 4 disc 1 so I don't necessarily need to put in the CD everytime I want to play. As far as I know this is still legal when it's for personal use. But I haven't kept track of copyright law changes within the market to know for sure.
I know most newer discs are protected, regardless of any copyright law they cannot be made into one, and most Play CD's (usually Disc 1) of older games can be written into mini images. Does anybody know if this is possible for the Simcity 4 CD, (the one necessary for starting the game "disc 1")

Hello there,

I first met with Simcity 2000 ages ago, playing since then time to time all three versions of Simcity but my favourite is ofc Simcity 4. I always believed Simcity 4 set the bar so high, no successor game (especially Simcity 5) can't compete. Actually I don't expect a better game in any genre in next 10 years.

Although I was no stranger to Simtropolis, I didn't have an account until now as I don't use lots much but I always loved what people created at CJs. I believe that community here made amazing things in modding and lots. Actually it is why I am now want to be a part of it.

I am currently working on a browser game that will also involve some city building elements. Because of that, I also hope to reach creators here for help hoping it might turn into a long term business although I am told that SC4 modding community isn't at golden days nowadays.

Beside that, I will also be happy to be part of this community hoping you'll enjoy/bear stubborn me :)

Best regards,

I just registered here a couple days ago. I'm a guy age 38 as of a couple days ago. Unfortunately I don't have any of the larger Sim games yet. But I do enjoy what I do have which is the SimCity build-it on my phone. I don't know how much good having friends on the game actually does. But if it does any good or is of any use. My city name on the game is the exact same thing as my name here.

Hi!
I am just a random guy who likes to play video games, liking citybuilders and simulators the most. I'm 14, and citizen of Mysłowice, Poland (ough, how I hate this city!). In free time I do write some articles for local press, learn basics of html/css or just do nothing. I am also public transport enthusiast/freak :D. Google brought me here, as i searched for "Cities: Skylines forum". My nickname is long and weird, I know it. It was supposed to be like this, because I'm sick of "this username has been already taken" just everywhere I register. I guess that's all for this post.

Greetings!

I'm not actually new to the site, since i joined back at 2009 just to download stuff at the exchange, but haven't posted anything in the forums until now.

I started playing Simcity 4 back at 2004 when i was a kid, had a long break due to my EP disk getting a deep nasty scratch, bought the game digitally, lost interest and now i'm returning to it once again :)

Right now i'm less playing the actual game and more about working on some personal re-lots of various buildings, both custom and maxis. I may share some screenshots of them.

That's all i can think of for a introduction.

Welcome back to home!

Indeed this place will always be home to all SC4 players. It's definitely true that once you play SC4, you just can't stop. I am looking forward for those re-lots you are planning.

Have fun strolling around the forums. :D

Hi,

I'm Lunar Techie aka Alex and I am 20 years old. I am also a professionally certified computer technician (who currently is unemployed). I also run a small technology blog. I've been playing Cities: Skylines for a while and figured I'd join a site that has C:S discussion on it, and even maybe share my towns I've made.

Hello,

I'm very glad to find this community and hope it can help me in a labor of love I'm about to undertake.

First, as an introduction I have enjoyed city building games since SimCity 2000 but only dabbled in the subsequent releases. I'm a civil engineer by trade with strong interests in city planning and multi-modal transportation.

Now for this project. (Please feel free to tell me where to direct this post if it doesn't belong here.)

I would like to model my own resident city (is this common? to me it would seem so). My primary objective is to model my own city and then test transportation improvements. This is all just for fun but I think it would be extremely interesting to model an city and then actual proposed transportation improvements (new highways, lane widening, etc) and see what happens.

What is the best game for this? SimCity 4? SimCity (2013)? Cities Skylines? I own a copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe but am open to acquiring another if it's the right fit.

Also, with the emphasis on transportation I'm very interested in implementing mass-transit (buses, subways, any rail), bike lanes along roads, dedicated bike greenways (bike lanes entirely separate from roads), pedestrian thoroughfares, etc. What's the best platform for this?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
