I've been here for nearly five years. Now's a good time for an introduction.
 
The name's Jolteon surprisingly enough that isn't my real name, I'm 17, I'm from Norway, etc, etc, who cares.
 
I found Simtropolis on some news article about SimCity 4 and custom content back in April, 2010. Before then, I had been playing it completely vanilla for five years.
I made an account (as this was required in order to download stuff from the STEX back then), and started downloading.
I've come a long way since then.
 
My plugins folder is at 5 gigabytes now and my regions folder is at 3.
I'm currently wondering whether I should start a city journal featuring my honestly mediocre cities.

You should try to create that City Journal. I also began with that question when I began my City Journal about 4 years ago... I'm pretty sure you'll be able to improve it with the help of everyone.

Fret not, if you all have hesitations then you have arrived at the right location! 

 

For starters, do not think of your work as mediocre. Everybody starts with something that they enjoy and through different help and efforts, they slow rise to become better urban planners. At the end of the day, it is still a game/hobby that is meant to be enjoyed not stressed about.  

 

Well, try checking out the forums for some ideas or the STEX for some new cool stuff.

I'm live in Manhattan,NYc was born in Spain travel a lot,I love playing Football(soccer),Reading,writing,Photography and wandering around NYC but love playing SC4,SC 3000 as well.but havnt been been able to play for awhile so I'm getting back on the horse I love these games!!

Wow, living in Manhattan is quite nice, especially with the view of local skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Center.

I can't continue my old cities, because my old laptop is broken and now I have a new one. The hard disc of that Sony was also broken.

Whenever something happens, always have the drive to do it, no matter the consequence. I had been telling that to many of my classmates and mu friends when they lost the motivation to move on, but fighting!

Haljackey and BuggUla are still active (more like alive and kicking). I don't think Geometry is active anymore and have left the community. But great to see you back! Let see if I could dig this thread for 2012 introductions

My name is omp. I re-discovered SimCity 4 a couple of years ago when I brought the computer, I used at work, home and installed SC. I finally had a computer that can handle the game. Anyway, hello to everyone in Simtropolis and this is my first ever post here.  I've got a few profiles out on the internet, there but being me has gotten boring. Sim City is total fantasy and I want to have fun with it. So I'm going to be the Supreme Moonite (at least until I can change my user name) and hope I can pull it off.

Indeed, if you are looking for some great ideas, some great mods or just some great works to kill your time, you have definitely come to the right place!   For starters, there are now a bigger SC2013 community than it was before, there are also a lot more mods to work on with the game. So I'm pretty sure you will be able to meet some members who can help you out with the gameplay. 

 

As for Supreme Moonlite, it is a big welcome back after eight years!  Indeed, nobody leaves SC4 that easily, once bitten, always addicted.  There's a lot of changes around the community for the past years and I hope you find the developments useful to your game style and playing.

 

If there are any problems, please do not hesitate to approach me or any staff in the community. We would like to hear from you guys soon!

Hello Everyone

 

My name is Phil and I'm a Hockey fan, lol duh. I'm also a big fan of SC4 and have played off and on starting with the SNES version of SimCity through Simcity3000 and even gave an extremely quick try of the silly ones like societies that came in the SC4 Deluxe box set.

 

I've been looking through and reading a bit on Simtropolis but in Lurk mode and have only recently started an account and reached out to the community.

I have to say my first contact with this community was TWrecks and he was very friendly, informative, and helpful. He made my first experience with the community a great one. I've slowly but surely crawled out of my shell and am happy to take part in this great community. It seems I joined at an interesting time for this site. There is an incredible amount of goodies out there already made and tested and updated, plus new even greater looking and helpful ones. However there also seems to be an interesting time in the arc of this website as SC4 "should" slow down, but hopefully has not, and 'Cities' is taking off. The way people seem to come and go and comeback as Real Life permits means this site should be around for quite some time to come.

 

On a personal note, I'm in my early thirties and live in Newark, New Jersey, USA. For work I'm a cog in the office of a machine that produces Buildings, in real life. (there would be a good winking smiley placed here but I haven't quite figured out what I'm doing wrong with those just yet.)

Hello, everyone!

 

I'm Ian, 21, and I'm from Caloocan City, Philippines. I'm a Computer Science student, hopefully graduating in 2016. I've been a huge SimCity fan since I was around 7 years old, and SimCity 3000 was my first SimCity game. (admittedly, it was hilarious - I'd zone each type of zone in 1x1 blocks, surround them all with road, plop all the civic buildings then wonder why I lost so much money) 

 

I've also played SC2k, and a bit of vanilla SC4. Rush Hour's pretty much the SimCity game I've spent most hours with (with 3K in second). I'm also planning to get Cities:Skylines soon.

 

Outside SimCity, I'm pretty much a gamer through and through, with my soft spot being retro games and business simulations. Some of my favorites include RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dark Souls, Fallout 1 and 2, and Unreal Tournament 2004. I also play a bit of League of Legends, but I'm not very good at it. In the rest of my free time, I like reading up on PC hardware and technology (currently saving up for a GTX 960), laughing at bad jokes and puns, watching anime, and complaining about how awful the internet in the Philippines is 

 

The community and content here are both amazing, and I think I'll enjoy my stay here

@Phil - I remember the time when I was just lurking around the site . I do remember that I got dragged into forum posting for a map that I was doing (Not proud of it anymore) but at least it's fine now.

@BaconElemental - More Pinoys D:. I started my SimCity experience in the Philippines too, and continued all the way to canada, where I currently reside and taking a course in Architecture. My first cities were similar to what you are doing and in SimCity 4 I would type "weaknesspays" which took me the whole night. Now, I just manage it properly in 1 sitting. I think that was good enough
