3ds Max hasn't gotten more expensive from "corporate greed" or anything like that. It's actually way less expensive than it used to be, because they have a much cheaper indie license.

They have free educational licenses for their programs. Before, it was so generous that all you had to do was state that you were a "lifelong learner" in order to get it. The license was good for 3 years. Then they changed it so that you actually have to be a student, which meant that non-students using the student version lost access as their licenses expired.

Aside from that, Autodesk only has a few of the most recent versions available, so there's no way for a normal person to get an old version of 3ds Max from official sources.

That said, even during the days of the free educational licenses, many (most?) people were getting 3ds Max through "alternative means". But it's almost impossible to find such old versions there either.

 

I haven't made any progress on updating BAT4Max because it's not working properly with Arnold and I don't know why. I'm 95% sure this is a solvable problem, but I don't know enough about MaxScript to figure it out.

If anyone knows MaxScript, or has coding/programming experience in general, let me know and I can send you my progress so far and get you up to speed on how things work and what the problem is.

To me, this looks an awful lot like a country pub in the UK, pop few tables in the back and find a pub sign and it would be bang on.

Having fun with highways lately - here's one setup that took some steps, but came out very NJ to my liking.

I had a lot of trouble figuring out the westbound to southbound movement but I feel really good about the end result. It was difficult to fit in the connections on the channel bank.

A  traffic light was avoided at the X annotation by flying southbound traffic under the expressway and over the state road.

Hi everybody!

As of today the BSC VDK Train Mods are restored on SC4Evermore. With this the most of Vester_DK's automata mods have been made available once again. There are four titles that have not been made available (VDK Train Mods Vol09, Vol10, Vol12 and Vol14), because they were reworked/updated and superseded by later VDK Train Mods created by Vester. (See the readmes for more information).
You can look for the VDK Automatas tag to filter these uploads. 

Also on a separate note, the BNL FrankU Row and double houses that were part of the SC4D Christmas Calendar 2015 have been made available again, as those uploads were never been uploaded to STEX.

The snow textures look ace, the one on the cliffs is excellent.

Hi BH, it's true that I haven't seen snow in the plains for years, ok ok (pfffu!), but isn't that a bit too marked as relief, just snowdrifts everywhere! In any case it's superb and chilling as can be!

I told you already on discord, but again: hopefully you're able to finnish that mod, that would be revolutionary and a life saver for us who plop basically 99% of the city. For example in these city blocks, I wouldnt need to go through the menus and buildingplop search all over again to find the same building I plopped 15minutes ago, I would just click on it and then I would have it selected again. Amazing!

New Chicago Little Village !

Little Village, industrial zone former rural long gone. Hi-Tec industrial has arrived providing jobs to neighbouring  Lower West loop !

Commercial still lottle to take of but some has come !

Last months their was a search about chicago post office, here the most famous Old Post Office with highway drive through ! This BAT I would love to se a update for the maxis highway part !

I'm currently replacing GLR/Tram-in-Road by El-Rail in one of my bigger cities (also, I'm rerouting some roads and streets) because it looks better to me. Requires me to remove a good amount of industrial/residential buildings, but what's the Growify mod for...
