Hub city of a new region.  Still working on transit network.  Huge amounts of pedmall, underground bypass highways, underground rail,

simcity4.jpg

Old russsian university maybe enough ! Sc4 transport network mostly based on road traffic, I read somewhere it could be except for automata couold be adjusted to rail, subway, bus but haven´t found any answer ? This supposed to be a super high dense city it may, make shure there enough leisure, museums, parks around beside public services ! If road traffic isn´t avoiable I should at least have some avenue´´s or space for wide boulevard´s available !

Someone give a medal to that diagonal DHL truck driver.

After driving for 6 hours he had an urgent need. This need gave him (his truck) wings.

@Simmer2

If you would judge on the soccer player Ronaldo by only reading comments in social media and never watch him play - you would be convinced he is unable to play the ball at all and even can't walk upright. But most of us won't judge him by comments on the web. Most of us will judge him by the delight he did gave to us while watching. And the same with you. In the forums I might say - you could do this better, you might change that. But this doesn't correspond to the fun I have by playing with your stuff. The fun you gave to me - that's something that remains invisible.  It's only a shadow - people talking a lot, criticize a lot. It's like the fun you gave to people throwing that shadow on public area. Don't judge your work by this shadow.  The more important your work is the bigger its shadow will be. The better you do, the more critics there will be.

Truck Stop

@fantozzi : there are somewhat modular truck stops (Paeng, randyE) but this one is even sexier (and has a smaller footprint than either.)*:thumb: Where IS the DL button ?!

Very nice building. You said "any type"? Does this include elevated roads? That would be cool.

First: simply beautiful building, particularly the nightlighting!!!

About the usage of viaduct roads, they can be very useful if you have a BRT network in your city. It's not the most elegant transit solution but, hey, it works!

@mattb325 and @matias93: That's right, an elevated bus stop. We don't have a lot of them, and having some cars going through a building looks so cool.

@nycsc4: That's a very nice city you have there :)

Rail or GLR?

Depends... if you're planning to connect to other cities, Rail, if it's just local, then GLR *;)

I want to implement a new rapid transit corridor in the biggest highway of the city/region. It will be rail, and will be in the east riverside.

I just want you to decide for me, Rail or GLR? Of course there will be different stations then a normal GLR (They don't have enough complexity for prepayment), but it will be something more like a Surface Metro.

Example of the real thing

You want to use rail.  LRT (or GLR in SimCity) is meant for dense urban corridors with lots of people.  Since you're talking about building in a freeway corridor you want to use rail with a fair amount of space between stops.  It's not going to be very walkable either, being in a freeway zone, so you'll want to have parking nearby so sims will actually use it too.

Well, I would have something like 2 or 3 stations per "city" tile. I still not developed the whole freeway, in the end it should have something like 24-30 km long. I think the Thing about GLR and some rail stations is that they don't seem like to have things that a rapid transit station should have.

Oh yes!

Then rail, without doubt. It's cheaper, more flexible, easier to create transit hubs for. Maybe the only downside is the issue with subterranean sections of you also want to move freight, because that limits you to straight maxis tunnels.

Well GLR by it's definition isn't rapid transit.  It generally runs in streets or at grade and runs around the same speed as traffic.  Both in game and in real life.  Most of the GLR stations for SimCity have much of the same features as real life light rail stations.  Rapid transit is more heavy rail, subway, elevated trains, etc.  Those stations tend to have turnstiles, are bigger and many times have intersecting modes.  If you're only looking to add two or three stations per tile then go with heavy rail.  But if you're looking for turnstiles and other types of fare control, I wouldn't hold your breath, I don't know of too many SC4 stations that have those features.  I also recommend getting the RTMT which adds some multimodal functionality with the GLR/Bus/Subway (if you haven't already).  There is also a Bullet Train Mod that's part of the NAM and a High Speed Rail Mod (those may be the same thing now, I'm not sure, I've never used either).

Tl;dr.  You have lots of options, but you probably want heavy rail.  Use that for long distance and connect with with GLR lines in your denser city neighborhoods if you're looking for a multi-modal solution.
