The Big Paeng Theory

78 (!) Lots to expand 'Paeng Parks Revisited' into a boundless universe.

Explict Warning

This is a bigger thing. In the worst case (if you never used Paeng Parks before) you will need 39 dependencies (this is half a dependency for a lot). I will guide you through the installation process as good as I can. But before you start - included in this download is a pdf-file with an illustrated catalog. I recommend to quickly browse through this catalog first. So you can make up your mind, if you really like, need and want this.

Before downloading please make shure you already have the following dependencies or if they are still available. If not, I'm sorry, you found another dead mod.

Basic Information

You can regard this as a "study" in lotting, an investigation, and over here you'll find some thoughts I had while working on this.

This started as a personal project - I was tired having so many park lots that didn't fit each other. So I decided to make an unified park system - this means to "paengify" all my prefered park lots. And also I kidnapped many idears from other lotters and "paenged" them. The looking of the Veloceraptor Cage is not my idear (but to put a poor goat in front of it, a film quote), to realize a horse race track, was not my idear. There were several aproaches before. So don't tell me I've stolen idears. Yes, I did.

Second I had - often inside of those "megapacks" – many good looking props sleeping on my hard drive, without a use on a lot. My aim was to make a better use of the prop packs I had already. Creating some sort of a showcase of all those beautiful things - how much work those modders put in this! I felt like an ignorant not making use of them.

Third thing - I wanted to expand the park themes. Animal parks, sports parks, amusement parks - - all on base of the paengs style. If you still miss some theme: most probably I didn't do it, because it already exists in an paeng-ready state. For a seaworld lot or some ice skating, a skate arena, ore other sports. You would only have to change the ground textures in the given links. Not reason enough for me to relot them.

I used a mix of seasonal and non-seasonal props on most of the lots, to achieve a colourfull change but that the parks don't look too poor during winter time.

For the main lots – I tried to give them an individual function. Even if they appear all in the park menu, they aren't all for a "park effect". Some lots will cost you money, some will give you a little income. And other things. Please see the documentation for details.

Obviously this work is dedicated to the great lotting artist Paeng. Copying him I learned much about lotting. Also I have to thank this community, especially T-Wrecks, giving idears and motivation to complete this.

Please report any errors. Please share your idears for improvement. With the high amount I lost somewhat overview and I wasn't able to test any possible combination.

Thank you for reading.

Dependencies/Installation (follow this with calmness step by step and you're done in 20 minutes)

1. Paeng Stuff

paeng_TexturePack_v104.dat

Paeng's Park Revisited

(includes Monuments Park v205, Urban Gardens v205, Paeng's White Sands Parkways v205 and a texture changer)

If you are new to Paeng Parks please read the informations coming with his packages.

To unify these different (originally independent) park systems it is very important that you use paengs texture changer correctly. Currently I tested my lots only with one of the unified texture versions paeng offers. This is variation Nr. 5 (see 'mod-combi_chart.jpg' in the texture changer folder). To achieve the same look please move the files "UG2Monument_Mod.dat" and "WSP2Monument_Mod.dat" from the texture changer folder into paengs main folder. Afterwards you should remove the texture changer folder from your plugins as it is an administration folder that doesn't belong in your plugins.

For the next dependencies I recommend to make a separate folder first and to collect them there. Maybe later you want them to datpack as a single dependency and keep it together with the lots – to have a better overview or, also, for an easier deinstallation.

SiMCiTY4iE_TheDublinSpire-0x5ad0e817_0xfb542473_0x270000.SC4Model (you need only the named model file from this download)

That's it. In the case you complain: install only the dependencies listed under section 1 and 2. The lots will be almost empty, but they will still work (without brown boxes).

In all other cases: have fun.

EDIT:

Made a support thread.

EDIT2:

If you like the stuff on the lots, please remember I only present those models, but they were made by other creators and you may consider to visit some of the links a second time to vote for them.

Oh.My.God. What an amazing enterprise ! And what magnificent results ! OK, I'm gushing, but...Parks and Paeng ? two of my favourite things ! As I am an old SC4 hand, I have all the deps (will check nevertheless:-)...), but I am thinking of the newcomers and of all the marvellous batlotters and batlots they"re going to discover ! Thank you for us old folks, and thanks even more for the young ones : it's such endeavours that keep the game very much alive.

I'm not too crazy about parks in the game but you get 5 stars regardless. The work involved in to making such a massive collection of lots is...staggering! Bravo!

The only thing this pack is missing is a DAMN menu, but I'll forgive you for that omission.

Honestly though...78 lots? It boggles the mind! Excellent work, and I look forward to using this in my cities. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us, and making it suitable for release (not, I understand, always an easy proposition).

Well, my parks menu just got way longer...

Splendid work! I can't wait to see all the things included. You put not only work, but thought into these lots, and it truly is a notable piece of content. :yes:

I've never used Paeng's parks but I think I might now. A lot of these lots would've been exceptional even as individual releases!

Phenomenal stuff. :thumb:

Even though I probably won't use this because I don't use Paeng's park set (doesn't fit my city theme), this is seriously amazing.

The sheer number of lots and the details put into some of the special ones is pretty astounding.

Amazing!! I love this pack. I've been using Peang's park pack in almost all my cities and this complements his work extremely well. Although, if you haven't used Peang's park pack yet, I recommend downloading and building a park with his first. The combination of the two will be overwhelming if you haven't gotten the hang of Peang's pack first. Both packs combined have to be close to 100 lots. That said, these are probably the two best park packages in STEX, IMO, so it's worth the effort. Thanks, Fantozzi and great work!!

I agree with tariely, you've just added an amazing new element to the game. I've always been a huge fan of Paeng parks, but I've always felt that you can never have enough parks, and there just isn't much lotting of this level available. Your taste in props is impeccable.

My city is full of your lots already. Thanks for making these.
