DIY Skyscraper International Style, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This download contains 3 modular BAT pieces to allow the end user to build their own functional skyscraper in the lot editor. While there are plenty of modular sets for all sorts of things, to my knowledge, a modular, functional skyscraper is a unique offering in the SC4 world. The model is fictional, but representative of the ubiquitous International Style of skyscraper that dominated the world from the 1950's onwards. These sorts of buildings generally did not exceed 50 -60 floors, but some, such as Chicago's AON Center and the former WTC in New York reached between 80 - 110 stories. This is the first of a few such DIY Skyscrapers. This BAT can be assembled so as to make any sized building (in 5 story increments) of between 10 or 15 floors and, in theory, as many floors as you want. There are three pieces rendered out as props that you line up and combine and raise in either the PIM-x or lot editor (CTRL+up arrow key) to build your own skyscraper: *Mattb325_DIY_IntlStyle_Base (the Lobby and first five floors) *Mattb325_DIY_IntlStyle_Mid (the middle five floors which you repeat as often as you need) *Mattb325_DIY_IntStyle_Top (the upper five floors and roof junk area) To start you off, I have made four fully functional, ploppable lots with jobs of varying sizes: 15, 20, 40 and 50 floors. These lots are also reasonably modular and you can plop them down in clusters like the display pictures. The ploppable lots are found in the landmark menu and provide CS$$ jobs (I've used CS$$ as there is always infinite demand in game, and CO demand often ends up negative by using ploppable skyscraper lots). They therefore require road access - the busier the better, water and power. Like all of my work, these are suitable for CAM and non-CAM cities alike. --------------------------------------- Please note that as these are vertical modular pieces, you will see little seams/apparent misalignment/repeated textures at certain zooms. I've corrected it all as much as is possible: it's not super visible unless you go looking for it, but beyond the corrections I've made there's not really anything I can do about how the game stitches FSH files together for its own display purposes. And certainly, for non batters, the benefit of finally being able to make your own skyscrapers should outweigh any small visual seams at certain zooms. --------------------------------------- As this is released as a DIY set, by all means make and share your own versions of skyscrapers - you don't need to ask my permission - but ensure that you point to this file as a dependency for your creation. And, if you are using the functional lot versions that I have provided, please ensure that you use the 'save as' option when making your own lot, particularly if you intend to upload your work to the exchange. --------------------------------------- STATS: 15 and 20 Floor Skyscrapers Lot size: 4x4 Plop Cost: $14,688 Bulldoze Cost: $856 Pollution at Centre: 46 (air) /23 (water) /46 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Demand Created: R$ 3,758, R$$ 942 Power Consumed: 76 Mwh Water Consumed: 905 Gallons Occupant Groups: Landmark; CS$$. STATS: 40 and 50 Floor Skyscrapers Lot size: 4x4 Plop Cost: $21,776 Bulldoze Cost: $1,269 Pollution at Centre: 66 (air) /33 (water) /66 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Demand Created: R$ 5,635, R$$ 1,411 Power Consumed: 107 Mwh Water Consumed: 1,277 Gallons Occupant Groups: Landmark; CS$$. --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users and one for the standard Maxis nite. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: There are no external dependencies required for this file. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the file into your plugins folder.- 1 Comment

Happy New Year everyone! Here is the CN Tower from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is the single tower. I will provide the full complex sometime in 2019. I've also noticed that I've made a couple of small errors and will update them accordingly. Follow this file and you'll receive a patch/update in the near future. For now, here's the single tower version (the complex will come later). Festive to New Year's Day, this lot is CS$$ and has fireworks! Now, you can add this overly massive telecommunications tower, turned tourist destination, to your city with festive style. This 553 meter (1,813+ feet) tower is the tallest building in Canada and was built to rival Toronto''s fast growing skyline. The Toronto skyline began blocking telecommunications services and thus the CN Tower was required. When the tower was under construction, it looked like something out of a sci-fi movie! Enjoy! - Kellydale2003 PS; Watch my thread for upcoming projects and releases! -

432 Park Avenue is a residential skyscraper in New York City that overlooks Central Park. Originally proposed to be 1,300 feet (396.2 meters) in 2011, the structure topped out at 1,396 ft (425.5 m). It was developed by CIM Group and features 125 condominium apartments. Construction began in 2012 and was completed on December 23, 2015. As completed, 432 Park Avenue is the third tallest building in the United States, and the tallest residential building in the world. It is the second-tallest building in New York City, behind One World Trade Center, and ahead of the Empire State Building. It is also the first, and so far only, building in New York City outside the World Trade Center Complex to be taller than the original twin towers. The skyscraper has received mixed reviews from both professionals and laymen alike since not everyone agreed with the artistic value of the building. The building has been maligned by some city residents since they believe it represents New York's increasing cost of living and ostentatious wealth. 432 Park's association to wealth inequality was also remarked upon by the building's architect himself, Rafael Viñoly, who commented that "There are only two markets, ultraluxury and subsidized housing." Fashion consultant Tim Gunn described the building as "just a thin column. It needs a little cap." Architecture critic of the New York Mag, Justin Davidson, said that the building is nothing more than just "stacked cubbyhole units" and questioned the creative value of the building. The Willis Tower, built as and still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower, is a 108-story, 1,450-foot (442.1 m) skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois, United States.[3] At completion in 1973, it surpassed the World Trade Centertowers in New York to become the tallest building in the world, a title it held for nearly 25 years and remained the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere until 2014 and the completion of a new building at the World Trade Center site. The building is considered a seminal achievement for its architect Fazlur Rahman Khan. The Willis Tower is the second-tallest building in the United States and the 16th-tallest in the world. More than one million people visit its observation deck each year, making it one of Chicago's most popular tourist destinations. The structure was renamed in 2009 by the Willis Group as part of its lease on a portion of the tower's space. As of December 2013, the building's largest tenant is United Airlines, which moved its corporate headquarters from the United Building at 77 West Wacker Drive in 2012 and today occupies around 20 floors with its headquarters and operations center. The building's official address is 233 South Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60606. I have updated my Twin Towers I BATed back in September to bring you a new version! I felt the updated was much needed after finding some time to do so. I feel now they stand as they should for SimCity 4's standards. I'm sure most of us already know about the Twin Towers, what they were, what happened to them, etc. They were once great landmarks located in Lower Manhattan, in New York City. They were once the tallest buildings in the city and the state of New York. Standing on top of either tower would give you a feeling of being on Top of the World. If you'd like to learn more about them, feel free to read their Wikipedia Article for starters. Personally, I find them to be marvels of architecture. I miss them highly, and I hope that they can stand indefinitely in SC4 at least. Installation Instructions: You do not have to demolish any lots. You can either delete the original model files from the previous upload and replace them with the new model files, or you can simply use the zip file to replace all files at once. The lots are exactly the same previously, the only change is the model files. Stats: Each tower sits on a 5x5 lot. Each tower is CO$$$ and provides about 21,000 jobs each. They are ploppable landmarks only, and are found in the landmarks menu. Dependencies- None! All added props for these towers are included. Special thanks to Mattb325 for modding the first version, then doing some more modding work for the new version. Thanks as well goes to T Wrecks and Gn_leugim for their opinions on this. I hope you all will enjoy this update! I tried to update the original upload and unintentionally deleted it. -Brandon- 41 Comments
