  3. TCC Grand Hotel

    Version 1.0.0

TCC Grand Hotel is a luxury hotel built in classical Chinese palatial architecture and based on/inspired by the real-world Grand Hotel, 圓山大飯店 located in the Zhongshan District of Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China). The real-world version was established in May, 1952, with the Main Building being completed in October, 1973. It was designed by Taipei-based architect Yang Cho-Cheng. Each of the hotels floors represents a different Chinese Dynasty. There have been many notable guests who have stayed at the hotel, including Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, South African President Nelson Mandela, US Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Clinton, British PM Margaret Thatcher, King Hussein of Jordan and King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. The hotel also features two air-raid tunnels (which were kept (somewhat) secret from the public until 1995) which lead from the hotel to a nearby park. Today, these tunnels are open for public tours. === STATS === You will find the building on a 9 x 9 lot in your Landmarks Menu. It is a Ploppable CS$$$ Landmark that comes with 600 CS$$$ High Wealth Jobs. The Building costs $88,000 and $50 to bulldoze, but will net you $200 in income per month derived from the local Hotel & Tourist Tax. Bade Rd Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This modern apartment block from Taiwan was made as a request. While this 15 story apartment may seem conventional at the front with two-toned render and curved balconies, the side elevation features tetris-like, multi-toned panels which hide the more mundane aspects of apartment construction such as kitchen and bathroom windows. In the real life version, these panels are quite pronounced, but I have pared them back for SC4. There is also a communal rooftop garden to give your cities a bit of green-space feeling. In game, these apartments house 404 medium wealth sims. They grow on a 2x2 left-hand corner lot on the Houston tileset only. Like all of my work, these are suited to both CAM and non CAM cities alike. Stats below. --------------------------------------- STATS R$$: Lot size : 2x2 Growth Stage: 6 (Medium & High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: $170 Capacity Satisfied: R$ 729 R$$ 404 Pollution: 3 (Air)/ 1 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 6 Mwh Water Consumed: 16 Gal/Month Building Style: Houston Occupant Group: Low Wealth Residential Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users and one for the standard Maxis nite. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. 6. East Asia: China, Japan, Korea (Part 1)

Welcome Back to my City Journal, "Touring the World"! All Cities shown are inspired by reality, but may have subtle differences with their real-life counterparts. These differences may be due to game constraints... or... just because. We're now off to East Asia! Tokyo is the largest city and capital of Japan. Formerly known as Edo, it is located on the main Japanese island of Honshu. It's metropolitan area is home to over 37 million people. During the 1980's it was an economic powerhouse. Today, it is one of the most frequently touristed cities in the world. Shinjuku is one of the most famous districts of Tokyo. It is home to the world's busiest train station, office towers, hotels, department stores, Godzilla, countless restaurants, cafes, bars and Pachinko parlors. Now let's take a trip on Japan Air Lines (JAL)'s Airbus A350 from Tokyo to Osaka. No trip to Japan is complete without a look at Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776.2 meters (12,389 feet) and perhaps the most recognized cultural icon of the country. And now Osaka, Japan's second largest metropolitan area, with a population of over 20 million. It is located south of Tokyo in the Kansai region. Hong Kong is one of the most recognized cities in the world, a favorite tourist destination known for its many sights, shopping opportunities and delicious food. Its skyline contrasts against a background of lush green, subtropical mountains and deep blue ocean seas. With a population of over 7 million people at 17,550 persons/square mile, it is one of the densest cities in the world. Due to the lack of build-able land, it is also one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, with 350 square foot condos being easily valued at over USD $3 million per unit (!!!). With such density, its no surprise that Hong Kong is home to one of the most successful public transportation systems in the world. Hong Kong is also one of the world's primary financial hubs with almost every major international bank having some level of operations in the City. And now a historical picture of Hong Kong's Kai Tak International Airport, circa 1980. No longer in operation, this airport was located in the heart of a dense urban area. Due to twist and turns, no visibility of the runway until the very last second, and the low altitude approach above apartment towers a mere couple hundred feet below, landing at Kai Tak was enough to make even the most seasoned airline passenger nervous! Here is a shot of the old Kai Tak terminal building, including various Cathay Pacific Lockheed L-1011s (Cathay Pacific is based in Hong Kong), a Pan-Am Boeing 747 bound for San Francisco, and a Thai Airbus A310 bound for Bangkok! Shanghai is the largest city in China, home to 35 million people. In the 1930's, it was known as the "Paris of the East" harking back to scenes of a romantic and historical waterfront area known as the Bund. Today, however, it is a modern skyscraper-filled financial center. The area known as Pudong, which as recently as the mid 1990s was nothing more than rice fields, is today home to multinational corporations, investment banks and some of the tallest buildings and hotels in the world. Taipei is located on the northern section of the island of Taiwan. It is home to over 2 million people and the economic center of the island. It's suburbs are home to Taiwan's well known semiconductor industry, but when you're in the City, you can't miss the 1,671 ft Taipei 101, located in the upscale Xinyi District, home to world-class shopping malls, high end retailers, five-star hotels and super expensive condos mainly reserved for wealthy businessmen or celebrities. Kaohsiung is Taiwan's second largest city. In contrast to Taipei, Kaohsiung is decidedly industrial and blue collar. It is home to the 85 Sky Tower, an architectural marvel rising to 347.5 meters (1,140 ft). While Kaohsiung doesn't garner the same level of attention as its big sister to the north, it is still well worth the visit, especially considering that the trip from Taipei only takes about 2.5 hours on Taiwan's High Speed Rail. Seoul is South Korea's largest city and capital. A highly successful business center, it is home to the chaebols, South Korea's conglomerate, mega-corporations. These corporations are best known for their consumer products, such as smart phones, appliances and cars. These high quality products aren't the only thing that the City exports. Seoul is home to South Korea's well known entertainment industry, churning out Korean drama shows and of course, "K-pop" music. While not as popular tourist-wise as some of the other cities in East Asia, those who have visited Seoul have had nothing but good things to say and always want to come back. Though if you're inclined to warmer climates, you may want to avoid winters here, which can be downright chilly. Thanks for visiting! You can also follow my CJ's and other content on Instagram.

  8. Liaojiang District, Bristol

LIAOJIANG DISTRICT, BRISTOL, WASHINGTON COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome to Liaojiang, Bristol's famous version of Chinatown. Established in 1857 simply as Bristol's Chinatown District during the Gold Rush era of California, and became a high populated area of Chinese coming from the slowly failing Qing Dynasty of China, in hopes of a better life. Cities on the west coast like San Francisco, having Chinatowns, the trade city of Bristol's was constructed for those that couldn't find room in SF's Chinatown. This Ming-Qing style of architecture gate and wall set was constructed during the 1880s as a way to sign the area seperate from Bristol, as during this time the city had the room to build the once distant district, into it's own little 'city' with walls surrounding most of it. Though with the main train station constructed in the 1930s in Chinatown, it became more decorative than actaully roping it off from the city. The gates now give entrance into Sun Yat-Sen avenue, which was constructed in the 1940s during the Kuomintang Era, which will be explained more soon.. Sitting at the end of Sun Yat-sen Avenue, is the main gate into the Tang Dynasty architecture styled palace, which is called the Gate of Eternal Peace, which what the Kuomintang Nationalist Party of China had the idea of. Peace for Chinese, Americans, and the whole world. Behind the iconic gate is the now, Nationalist Museum of China, which is owned and operated by the Kuomintang Nationalist Party of China, who currently is a leading party of Taiwan and established the Republic of China in 1911, after overthrowing the Qing Dynasty of China. Though, after the Chinese Civil War, the Kuomintang was exiled to Taiwan by the Communist Party, who established their Maoist one party dictatorship in mainland China. Leaving them to ruling Taiwan, and Bristol became a major area for KMT Government officials working in the mainland to escape to. Leaving a deal with the city, county, and California governments. That the KMT could take the Chinatown district, as a safe haven to them, with 'autonomy' from city and county level. Leaving that they are exempt from city ordinances and county ordinances. Leaving the district to become revitalized under the KMT's own district council, who is connected to the present day Taiwanese government. So in the 1950s, the palace was built as a consulate to the RoC and the USA, on conditions that the land and buildings remain controlled by the district council. Though, the council and district is not allowed to have a separate judicial system, and Bristol law enforcement still has power in the district. Though, the council has security gaurds who have powers similar to police in the district. Though as said, all judicial matters must be in power of Bristol and Washington County. When the USA switched allegiances to the PRC (Mainland China) in 1972, the KMT and Liaojiang council transformed it into a museum of Chinese heritage, bringing in actual artifacts they saved from the Cultural Revolution of Mainland China, to put in the National Museum in Taipei, and the Nationalist Museum of China in Liaojiang. As well built is the Liaojiang National Hall , where during celebrations indoor celebrations are held with traditional chinese music, plays, etc. As well as often traditional chinese plays and shows are held. As well as concerts with traditional chinese music, dancing, and often food. The National Hall keeps alive the ancient chinese culture that Mainland China lost during their Cultural Revolution. Most of the original Chinatown was torn down in the 1940s-1980s during the KMT's revitalization of the district. Old 1890s-1930s city buildings were torn down in the 1970s-1980s for more modern shopping buildings that would be seen in Taipei. As a way to reflect this as a miniature Taipei instead of being your typical Chinatown with normal American buildings just with Chinese signs. The KMT, went all out to make sure the city looks as close to Taipei, and Taiwan as the KMT could get it. As seen in front of the historic Chinatown Station built in the 1930s. One of the last buildings built during the old era. It was preserved due to a small clause the KMT put in saying that this train station, out of all the buildings must remain to show remnants of the past Chinatown. Today, the station was renamed to the Liaojiang-Bristol Train Station. On Sun Yat-sen Avenue, Taipei styled shops are down the avenue, and then major towers such as the Oriental Resort, which is a prominent 5 star hotel and resort on the avenue. The Kowloon Terraces on Palace Avenue is a historic 1950s building home of the Liaojiang District Council, where district ordinances are signed. Modern skyscrapers like the Aurora Hotel, tower over the district, giving it a more unique skyline to the rest of Bristol. Behind it is the replica of the Sun Yat-sen memorial, which remains a welcome center of the museum and the entire district. It was originally a welcome center to the consulate and it's palace design and history. A overview of Liaojiang, showing it's close proximity to the city's downtown district. The Bristol district show's its unique culture and style from it's typical American city districts.
  9. So I've noticed that there are a lot of us here on Simtropolis that have an interest in Asian Pop music. Interestingly There's no thread regarding asian music (Despite the big Hallyu wave and all) Anyways, I've made this thread to cover and compile all this including J-Pop (Japanese Pop) and C-Pop (Chinese Pop), along with the all well known K-Pop along with discussing culture, News, New releases, Biases, Celebrity News, Fashion etc. This thread isn't only limited to Korean, Japanese and Chinese music, so feel free to discus other types of asian music as well. I've used these three because these are generally bigger ones out there that most people are aware of. Anyways I've compiled A list of Official Charts here for those to keep up with the latest hits from Taipei, Seoul and Tokyo : K-Pop: Gaon Charts Mnet Charts J-Pop: Oricon Charts C-Pop: G-Music Charts KKbox Top 100 Hit Fm Taiwan HITO As usual, Forums Rules Apply, So please No fan wars. Feel free to add new charts and point out new ideas and I'll try and update this OP for easier accessibility for others. There's only one word now, DIscuss~ I'll try and Improve this OP along the way, so feel free to suggest some new ideas~

  11. Taipei Islands: Silky Ridge 絲線嶺

Silky Ridge is a little hill on the former Linkou (Wood Entrance) plateau. 絲線嶺,是原本林口台地上的一座小山。 After the sea level rise, this 150m hill has become plains. 在海平面上升後,這座150公尺高的小山變成了平原。 The Wugu Industrial area and the township of Nankan has escaped the flooding, 原本的五股工業區以及部份南崁市區逃過一劫, thus the area has become one of the most prosper city of the region. 因此這塊區域成為附近最繁華的地帶。 A traditional "little-bridge-flowing-water" Chinese garden park sits behind a large National Residence commune. 一座中國傳統的「小橋流水」亭園式公園座落在國宅後面。 Luckily, the Silky Sidge remains its beautiful scene of her betula birch covered ridgeline. 絲線嶺,是以油桐花和樺樹在夏天開滿了山頭,因而得名。 Silky Ridge, to be continued... 絲線嶺(待續)...

G'Day Simtropians, Today I wish to present a map requested courtesy of Subfly09 at SC4d, thanks mate. Tainan is situated on the west coast of Taiwan and is known as the Phoenix City due to her many comebacks and renewals over the course of her history. See me up CLOSE and personal. This is a real world map and was produced with dem and satellite data. It is terrain and scale accurate ans in .SC4M format. The map requires one has either wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer installed to import it into one's game. It measures 53.248km x 57.344km. A free readme is included containing a pic, links and instructions. That's all I think. Cheers

G'Day Simtropians, Today's map I wish to present was requested by Mayorfabz at Sc4D, Thanks Fabien, Kaohsiung is the largest port in Taiwan and the second largest city. The request was for it to be rotated to align the harbour east-west and that version is available on the LEX. I decided to also make an un-rotated version. See me up CLOSE and personal. This is a real world map and was produced with dem and satellite data. It measures 53.248km x 53.248km and utilising 16bit mapping technology it is in .SC4M format. Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer is required for importation. The map is terrain and scale accurate. A readme has been included containing some links and instructions and a picture. I think that's all. Cheers

Map of Xiamen, China and Kinmen, Taiwan. Based on real world data with reductions in scale, slight realignment of rivers, and other embellishments to optimize city squares. The map was designed for multiplayer use and therefore gives all medium tiles and large tiles the equivalence of 50-75% medium tile flat land and water access.
