About This File
TCC Grand Hotel is a luxury hotel built in classical Chinese palatial architecture and based on/inspired by the real-world Grand Hotel, 圓山大飯店 located in the Zhongshan District of Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China). The real-world version was established in May, 1952, with the Main Building being completed in October, 1973. It was designed by Taipei-based architect Yang Cho-Cheng. Each of the hotels floors represents a different Chinese Dynasty. There have been many notable guests who have stayed at the hotel, including Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, South African President Nelson Mandela, US Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Clinton, British PM Margaret Thatcher, King Hussein of Jordan and King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. The hotel also features two air-raid tunnels (which were kept (somewhat) secret from the public until 1995) which lead from the hotel to a nearby park. Today, these tunnels are open for public tours.
