The best 'reasonably priced' new PC to run SC4 as well as possible
Haljackey posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Well I made a decision. My current PC- which contains guts from 2010 when I built the thing from scratch, is going to get a replacement. The only thing I remember upgrading was the GPU in 2015 to run Skylines better. It's done a good job running SC4, but now I want to get something new and replace it before something on it dies. It will still be a good backup. ----- I'm hoping on Black Friday I'll take advantage of some promos and build an entirely new PC from scratch. I want to aim this build to run SC4 as best as it possibly could. I'm thinking my budget for a new build will be $1k-1,500 CDN, but I can stomach up to 2k. That's why I say reasonably priced in the title. Not cheap, but also won't have a 3k GPU in it. ----- Having said that, I'd like input from the community. What guts do you recommend to get a brand new PC to run SC4 well on a 2022 build? What CPU should I get? I'm thinking less cores, more GHz per core? What motherboard? What graphics card? What RAM and how many GB? What power supply? Etc... I assume this will run Windows 11 too if that helps. I'd also see if I can get the game to stream/record better. Getting decent FPS in dense cities with a large plugin folder is something my current PC struggles to do. Ideally I want to record/streem seamlessly at 1080p 60FPS. Advice welcome! Thanks in advance! -
Will I be able to get SimCity 4 running on this computer?
nickvon posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hello everyone, I've been thinking of buying an extremely cheap PC because I want to edit lots and create BATs, which I am unable to do on my MAC. Since looking at computers I've been thinking that perhaps I should just upgrade to a new laptop because mine is over ten years old now and slow as heck. I'm incredibly ignorant when it comes to hardware capability, and I've read rumors of this game becoming to old to perhaps play on some machines. So I thought I would ask here, because it is nearing to be a necessity that I be able to run SC4 on a new computer. Would the following be able to run SimCity 4? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lenovo-IdeaPad-3-15-FHD-AMD-Ryzen-5-3500U-AMD-Radeon-Vega-8-Graphics-8GB-RAM-256GB-SSD-Cherry-Red-Windows-10-81W100DXUS/609542524 Thanks in advance for your time. I will be mostly available in the coming day to answer any questions. -

Hi all, apologies in advance for another one of those "what PC should I get" threads. I currently have a Lenovo with I7 4790 3.6, 8gb RAM, 1 GB NVIDIA GT 705 graphics card. I currently have trouble with frame rate once my city expands to about 100 000 although I have disabled many mods. I'm looking at buying a new desktop for around £2000 and have no idea what I should be looking for so am seeking the advice of you good people. I would like to play the game with 81 tiles, TMPE and the usual top mods. Any advice on what I should be looking at would be very much appreciated as I am not very computer literate. Thanks in advance.

I am about to buy a new laptop and am thinking this is a good time to make the transition from SC4 to Skylines. What are recommended specs which will allow for advanced Skylines gameplay - mods, assets, etc?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I have been out of the PC desktop world (at home) for some time and I have been getting the bug to start playing games like Cities and SimCity (I have not played in several years). I really am lost when it comes to specs needed. My main purpose for the pc itself would be for games like this and downloading mods. My laptop serves my needs for all other work that I do from home. I don''t have an interest in any other type of gaming other than these city building types. So... if my budget was 1,000 - 1.500 USD what would you recommend on specs with PC etc. and monitor. Thanks

What are some good laptop specs for handling SC4?
Edvarz posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi Simtropolitans! I'm upgrading my 5 year old laptop soon, and I would like to know what specs would be good for handling SC4 with up to 3gb of plugins and on hardware mode, if possible. I currently have a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i3 CPU, with 4 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M GPU. I can run the game just fine, but lately I tend to only play medium sized city tiles, without an HD terrain mod or a custom tree controller, and with shadows and automata turned off; I also use an "Endless summer mod" by Twrecks to limit seasonal trees and save on some performance. However, an HD terrain mod is not a necessity on my book. I know modern hardware can handle this game just fine, but I've heard some GPUs like some basic Intel ones are problematic. For the price range I'm on, I'll most likely end with a similar CPU and GPU, and with a similar amount of RAM, I guess I mainly want to know about the graphics card. Also, I don't know about AMD processors and GPUs, since I've never had a computer with one. Thanks in advance! -
did some serious hardware upgrades today and wanted to share them with the world. Old system specs: quad core 3.0ghz sempron II X4, 8gb DDR3 memory, Geforce 740 PCi-E video card, Regular HDD sata, windows 7 ultimate X64 /ubuntu 15.04 new system specs: same video card, Ubuntu 15.04 as 2nd OS, both on 12gb SSD's. also, Oculus rift for VR gaming. anyone else do any hardware upgrading recently?

Thoughts? finally pulling the trigger, also if my game is Installed on a Mac, Can I install the key into a new PC? Yes I know the omen is $$$ but I don't need a desktop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-black/3993033.p?id=1219610979758&skuId=3993033 or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-black/3993033.p?id=1219610979758&skuId=3993033&pid=1219610979758

Indeed I'm wanting to play Cities: Skylines but I have an aging system that might not quite meet Recommended Requirements so I'm looking for feedback on what kind of performance others are getting on their specs. I don't want to spend the money on the game right now if it means I'll need a spiffier computer to play it reasonably. Oh, and by reasonably I don't mean with the 25-tile mod, just be able to build some cities that probably won't even necessarily be huge but at the very least spread out on the default nine tiles. I bought this PC about four-and-a-half years ago but I have too many other financial obligations at the moment to justify the expense of a better machine. Of course I have Windows 7 64-bit. My processor is an AMD Phenom II quad-core, 3.4Ghz 8 gigs of RAM Graphics card is AMD Radeon 6450 with its own 4 gigs of RAM Thanks for answering!
