  1. Show us What you're Working On

Love this style! Cool to see you exploring more urban projects. I'll have fun using this set! Could you do one with no, or very minimal, branding? This building could be really useful as a nondescript apartment building.
  2. FA2 High Rise Set

Thanks for bringing these into the new era!
  3. FA3 559 Anderson Ave Growify

Thank you! Nice to have the res functionality. Appreciate you reworking this old thing into something more useful. thanks for sharing
  4. New York CS$$ Shops Pack 2

These look awesome! Right off the street I cannot thank you enough for this highly realistic and visually interesting rendition of these buildings. Your first upload was top notch and a very fun and creative take on the style. But with this one you absolutely knocked it out of the park with realism. I hope that other BATers see your style change between the two uploads. They should look to your work as a good example of taking input and perfecting one's own work with the tools they already have. Kudos! I especially love the treatment you gave to the roof lines of these buildings - very ornate in a realistic way for the region. I have a row of buildings on my own block that look strikingly similar to these from the street! Great eye for the little things, including the roofs and air shafts. And once again the signage and props are looking great - love your gentrified bodega. It's the little things!
  5. TCC Maps - Lagos, Nigeria

Ohhhhh no way!! Obviously this is my new favorite map!!! THANK YOU A TON!! not only for taking a user suggestion, but also for adding a high quality and impeccably detailed map of the LARGEST METRO IN AFRICA!! and one of the BIGGEST CITIES IN THE WORLD! Not only all of that -- this map is perfectly oriented for the SC4 grid, and features so much cool terrain to build on: from big straight barrier islands, to a huge lagoon with marshlands, to a meandering river in a big, flat basin, bounded by the seaside foothills -- this map really has something for everybody, and I would anticipate it will see a lot of use. I'm definitely excited to play with it! Cheers and thank you again!! -FTG
  6. WZ Recreation: Palais

Great job! Still can't believe Wolf deleted all his files because he didn't receive enough compliments. Hope he's looking at the great job you did, proudly. Thank you.
  7. Let's write our own SC4 Building Styles

I'm one of the less technically inclined users here. But I think we're all scratching our heads here, thinking 2 things about this dll: "wow, what an endlessly useful thing!" "how the heck should we use it?" My initial thought for 'assigned, publicly available' building styles is to elaborate on the New York style through the years. Starting from 1700s and working up to modern day. So that as you progress through your game, you wind up with a cohesive set of lots growing at different times representing the architectural styles that were in vogue during the period. By having the styles change in accordance to the game's calendar, we could plan regions better and more realistically simulate organic growth with less manual effort. Imagine starting your game at colonization in the year 1800 with wood shacks, and every 30 years progressing through time and history federalism, the georgian, then victorian era, etc. 1800 - 1830 - 1860 - 1890 - 1920 - Maxis NY 1940s - 1980 - 2010 - 2030 This would be a useful and realistic scale of time to encompass the major styles presently found in and around Metropolitan NYC Existing BATs (like the works of cp, justforfun, mattb325, etc) could be relotted and retrofitted as cori described above. Of course the amount of styles and time scale between can vary by place and number of years needed (ancient city, vs Houston). But this is my first thought if recategorizing the entire catalogue of existing BATs. Perhaps a fuller integration this way would be to first assign (100?) major international architectural styles from around the world to choose from and baking that list into an updated version of PIM, or something. Maybe this means 100 of the cities with the most distinct styles, or 50 cities and 50 countries. Of course I chose 100 out of a hat for simplicity's sake. You guys are working with 2048 possible styles to be assigned, right? You could bake in options for the entire world, if I'm not mistaken? Then there are the ramifications of selecting a building style with too few lots to grow anything at a given time, ----e.g. what If I'm using "Krakow - 1930" tileset, and nothing is able to grow because I don't visit SimCityPolska often? And as a consequence, do we find ourselves downloading buildings with styles we don't often build with? Either way, I see myself going forward with the NY tileset in correct chronology because I want it for my own game. Thanks for entertaining my big dreams. What a fun time to be alive!
  8. Show us What you're Working On

I always enjoy scenes from your regions---I think you capture the Athenian approach to urbanization so perfectly. The pastoral hillsides scattered with Hellenic ruins and historical sites... and then the sea of concrete, crossed by serpentine boulevards. I appreciate seeing it all close-up. The FA runways are very cool. Did you make them yourself? Are they available somewhere?
  9. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

Cori, I would think of you often as I troubleshot through things from many years ago and your wise words directed me through tumult and chaos. Even in your absence, the eternal nature of the forum still allowed you to humbly and skillfully guide me through the issues I faced in my sc4 pursuits. Maybe if the world were filled with more people like you, it would be an easier place to live in. I am so happy you are back, so I can say, thank you. Thank you for your mind, your words, and your devotion for this thing we all do, through all these years. But mostly, thank you for not giving up, and thank you for coming back to us. You've shown us what resilience looks like. I hope that your comeback inspires others who are similarly in a rut or have thought the same way you did. Thrilled to hear from you again. Hope you continue to take pride in your beautiful, pastoral regions----or whatever it is that makes you happy nowadays. May creativity and joy abound. with love, Joey
  10. Pacific Supply

Cool warehouse space. Very nondescript. I like the roof texture. Shame what has happened in Oakland. Thanks for the building!
  11. New York CS$$ Shops

These are TOP TIER!! Really cool work, amazing attention to detail on the brickwork and the mouldings. I also LOVE your signage. The businesses really pop. Very NYC in a fun and distinctly "outerborough" way. My only ask is that for the next set like this you include air shafts between the buildings. There will be a next set, right??!? Thanks!! great job!
  12. FA2 and FA3 Mid-rises

Wow! These look great! Love the colors you used and the shape of the buildings, great attention to detail. Hope you do some more like this! Can't wait to see them in my regions. Thank you! Really excited to see what you do next.
  13. Show us What you're Working On

When I'm in doubt, I just take a screenshot of any roof I really like and extrude the small details like pipes ducts, AC units etc by hand. Maybe you could do the same thing with sandbags, situationally?
  14. Los Angeles Home Pack 1

My hero!! These are beautiful, realistic, and fun, architecturally. I'm stoked to see that this is the first installment so perhaps there will be many more! I've always wanted to do a Los Angeles-style map but found it difficult due to lack of good content. Perhaps now is finally the time Excited to see what you have lined up next. Great job!!
  15. Diagonal Road Tunnel

Thank you for sharing! This is going to open up new routes in our regions and ways we think about transport modding. Appreciate your creativity
  16. Show us What you're Working On

I love, love, LOVE!! these! This is the kind of nondescript, realistic industry we need every shape, color, and size of. Kudos!
  17. Show us What you're Working On

Hey---this is absolutely stunning work. How'd you do the diag underpass? Is that a custom prop? Beautiful job.
  18. Lot - Resources / Help

Thanks-- if I set them all as props, I shouldn't run into any issues regardless, correct?
  19. What? As far as I'm aware I haven't done anything differently. Could you elaborate? Which 'file' would be the 'same'? As far as I'm aware I'm not 'reusing' anything....... Just to be clear, these are the models that BAT creates after I save and export a project. What am I missing?
  20. yes, these are all my 'lost files' that kaimai has kindly repaired
  21. Oh wow!! Cool! Thank you, so so much kaimai!! Am I able to just use these, then? I'm hoping with the texture fix this issue won't happen again. Way beyond my technical chops
  22. Is this easy? Can I do them in a 'batch'? I think it would be difficult to repair all these files one by one. What do you reckon is the simplest way? I barely found the time to make these over the past year, so I'm daunted by the steps involved to fix them.
  23. Is this the correct file? So if I'm interpreting correctly... I should install the fix, then create new sc4models files, then rename the old files with the new gid? Simply put, I don't need to reexport the existing models, correct? That would be a PITA. Thanks again for taking the time to explain the chronology of the steps involved.
  24. BAT Request Thread

I admire this way of creating, and believe you will find more success and happiness in your pursuits. Best wishes
  25. I thought initially my issue could be a problem with prop family assignments. Which I think is still possible. However I'm still confused, upon closer inspection. Even the Elfreth's Alley model was replaced, and it doesn't belong to any prop family ID. Could one of you kindly check it out? Early access to some sweet sets too. thanks.
