10 pointsReplies in the comments section of last entry To celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup, we visit Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana district. During the World Cup,the beach will be transformed into a FIFA Fanzone where fans from around the world will gather to watch the matches live on big screens. Who will win it all? Brazil, Germany, Argentina, or the Netherlands?

6 pointsReplies: Thanks for the kind words! I'm pleased you are enjoying it. Thanks! First of all, thank you for spending the time required to read each update!! I've tried to keep the CBD in scale (it might be a little over-sized). The rendering is still a problem in the Brattleboro city. Stuff just disappears!? Makes growing my regions largest city kind of a challenge. I try to keep the rail lines flowing like real lines do. Also, most rail lines do not have grade level crossings. Update: By for now... Dick

3 pointsChapter 4: Hustle & Bustle The tall ship pulled up to the dock and began unloading its cargo. Stone, wagons, oil, and various other supplies from the South were hauled up the road and into town. "Now do be careful with this crate!" One of the hands on the ship called out. "It's some of the finest tea from the South. Bring it straight to the general store." "Yes, sir." The men working the docks replied. Ships from both North and South arrived at the port daily. Liam Fisher had played his cards well. The dock at the mouth of the river was an ideal trading spot. The town had begun exporting grain, produce, and lumber in exchange for other goods. Sometimes, ships arrived with "gifts" for Fisher, but that had tapered off in recent months. The settlement was a legitimate opportunity for both North and South to further economic progress, and neither was about to pass it up. ********************* With all the legitimate trading going on, and with the new dock now up and running, it only made sense to establish more permanent roads. The main road is Dock Street, adequately named as it leads directly to the docks. It's the only road with a true name at this point. People have begun using the phrase "Farm to Docks Road" to describe the road that connects the farms with the dock. Much of the original settlement has been untouched, ordered by Liam Fisher. "If I wanted the hustle and bustle of the city, I would have stayed there." He barked at a settler one afternoon when the two were chatting about improvements. "My gravel road is just fine." Father Marshall was less than pleased about the developments, as his church had been neglected since the earlier days of the settlement. "This land is filled with heathens, brutes, and thugs!" he preached one Sunday morning to the small group of faithful. "You must spread the good word! Spread His news!" His words fell mostly on deaf ears, as the settlement had no time for converting sinners; there was work to be done. Even though the community had come a long way, life was still difficult. ********************* Farther inland, past Dock Street, the outskirts of the town have seen some small ranches develop. Small shacks dot the perimeter of the settlement. Eventually the roads will find them, but not today. The Great Northern Longhorns that Liam was able to get from Ambassador Vandersnatch have permanent residence on this ranch. "Those Longhorns are to be treated like KINGS!" Liam told the rancher. "They are some of our most prized possessions." "Of course, Mr. Fisher. I'm takin' real good care of 'em." The man said. "You better be," he replied. ********************* People are beginning to forge their own paths as the woods continue to be cleared. There's so much going on and things are changing so quickly that there's very little that is solidly set in stone. The only thing that's a certain is this little town is growing rapidly. ********************* "Ah, this is the life. Clean fresh air, water lapping at our back door...it can't get much better," a man said who lived near the coast. As the settlement expanded, some people took up residence outside of the major developing area, choosing rather to settle close to the river. ********************* The woods are slowly loosening their grip on the point. As the settlers continue to arrive, more and more land is needed. Farms are exploding, the town is growing, and life continues to improve. There's talk of a large group of people from the South making their way to the settlement. A huge population boost is most likely in the immediate future. At times, Liam FIsher wonders if the town is growing TOO quickly. Only time will tell... ********************* "We best be gettin' back to town, Tom." the man on horseback said. "Let's hope these horses know the way 'cause I can't tell which way is up after all that 'shine," the other replied with a hiccup. The old man in the cabin laughed as the two young men rode away. P.S. I realize that the street lights are woefully inaccurate for a period-specific CJ. I have since learned how to remove them and so, after this update, there will be no more lights...now, about all those cars. ------------- REPLIES ------------- Thanks a lot. I did look, unfortunately at that time, Photobucket had removed the pictures from the first update, so it was difficult to really enjoy as you intended. I'll have to give it another look soon! Thanks for reading and following along. Thanks a lot. MMP's are a constant learning experience for me so hopefully they'll only improve from here!

3 points25 East 193 Street Thank you guys I'm so sorry for not being so active this year. Here's a small update, I need to work on the nights and work on the bricks on the back of the building, I think they need to be a little darker.

3 pointsThis is a teaser for an upcoming update. Swish. I tried my luck with tall buildings and it doesn't look Asian to me. Hahaha. Well, I let you be the judge of that. Sorry for the yellow lines, I did not notice that. -_-

3 pointsHere's a pretty large interchange I made over the past few days. It's actually two interchanges meshed together--part of it is an interchange with an avenue and the other part is a misshapen trumpet interchange, complete with braided ramps to reduce weaving and improve traffic flow. Click on the image above to view the mosaic at full size.

2 pointsI first playing Simcity 4 years ago, after enjoying the wonders of Simcity 3000. My first cities were merely slum lands with little aesthetic value. After viewing Youtube tutorials I progressively got better and eventually was able to build my first stable city. After a bunch of decent save games I began to get bored/frustrated with the game and left. I lost the disc soon afterwards. -------------------- Fast forward to 2014, and I bought the game once-more. After sprucing up the Big City tutorial, I began work on a city just to delve back into the game. Because I was returning, I named it "Regresado City" (regresar = return in Spanish). It had a rough start but eventually gentrified into a beautiful metropolis, full of high wealth skyscrapers. Here's a series of pictures. This is the full regional picture of the city. As you can see, it's a skyscraper concrete jungle flanked by huge industrial districts and residential suburbs. Because working with the current landscape would be difficult I opted for the easy flatlands. I don't believe in demand mods so I had to build the auxiliary cities to supply CO$$$ demand. This is a picture of the city center itself. I mainly used the Chicago 1890 set (it has many great buildings) although I switched to other tilesets at times because I wanted some buildings out of them. It's a mix of residential and commercial zones, with no particular organization other than the tried-and-true grid. This shot contains one of my favorite skyscrapers, based off of the Commerzbank in Germany. It's part of the Euro tileset. The skyscrapers in the city aren't condensed in one place but distributed throughout. This is a twin coupling of one of my other favorite skyscrapers, Pedriana Pharmaceuticals from the Chicago tileset. It's one of the hardest buildings to get but a satisfying one once you have it. It's based off of the Nelson Tower in New York City. This is a portion of the high-end district of the city, with the glaring lights of the rich people condos from the Houston tileset. These are also fairly hard to get, especially the one with the blue lights. Interestingly, Ong Condos (also one of my favorite buildings) is based of a building in Australia. The city is fairly stable, and shall stay that way as it cannot grow any bigger. I'm starting to experience problems in the auxiliary cities that have led to strange demand phenomenon (one time I went into Regresado City and saw that my CO$$$ demand was rock bottom for some reason. I hastily removed low-rise office buildings in fear that my precious skyscrapers would be abandoned). It's held together by a poorly crafted bus and subway system, and whatever passive effects the NAM mod has on traffic and capacities. I plan to start another city soon, with better planning so that the CO$$$ isn't distributed so much but rather concentration in a complex of towering skyscrapers. I plan to use NAM more extensively, to have a more varied landscape with rivers, and to incorporate more of those fancy custom buildings (although with the right combinations the vanilla tilesets are sufficient in creating a diverse skyline).

2 pointsIn playing around with this, the issue seems to be the LE Terrain Props file. Without it, I did not get any boxes, with it I did. Checking the Readme, it does require that the be installed to provide the models that the props are based upon. Installing that provided the necessary model and produced no box. Note: If you don't want the PPond Kit installed. you can remove the LE Terrain Props file. It appears to only be needed for a very small pile of stones (or something) next to the lake on that one lot.

2 pointsWorking on ME:TMW's latest update (#64). I think you can gues what city this is in the future. Working it to appear as a detailed apocalyptic scene, with shattered buildings and falling debris.

2 pointsTo be honest I don't think Neymar out of World Cup is so bad to Brazil. Last two matches, against Chile and Colombia he did absolutely nothing. I think it's still possible Brazil to win against Germany. Curiosity: some weeks ago The Simpsons released an episode where Neymar got an injury before the match against Germany. I hope it's just a coincidence really, or we gonna lose 2-0 following the episode

2 pointsSome may remember this interchange I posted a while back: After development of the area, it looked like this: And later on, I thought of a way to improve it: But then I thought of another improvement it needed, to complete the traffic movements (as I had given up on doing that and making it look good at first). After a lot of messing around with designs and rebuilding it, it finally came to this: Now the important route it had been missing before is available to commuters and trucks, albeit with some pretty sharp curves which will slow traffic. But the interchange wastes a lot of space in the middle of it, right? Well, I eventually figured out a way around that: Now, the area is beginning to see some development. I figured it wouldn't be such a bad thing to have an intersection along the ramp, since the curves will have traffic moving pretty slowly already and it's only a few factories so there shouldn't be a huge amount of turning traffic. Also, you can barely see it, but I added a turnaround along the highway before it turns into one-way roads, for trucks to have access to all directions of travel after leaving the factories. I imagine it would have a "stop here for signal" area so they can turn around at a traffic light. Unfortunately, entering the factories may be difficult but hopefully I can work something out later on to add more access.

2 pointsUpdate 2014/06/25: The Warrior II model and textures are done! Just need to test it in the game but if you're curious, here are pictures of the completed ship:
-
2 pointsThanks, mate! I'm just trying to model to the best of my ability on my projects. As promised, here are some detail shots- Stern deck detailing. I added an anchor and spare screws to give that 'active' look to it like the Warrior II carries extra equipment in case the Warrior's propellers clips a rock and needs to pull into drydock to be fixed. And these are the funnel details. The whistles are made to look like the triple-tone whistles like Titanic's and the funnels themselves are painted with the same White Star Buff as Titanic.
-
2 pointsStill plugging away at my steamships project. The next one to get some TLC is the Warrior II. Unlike last time, the Warrior II is completely redesigned. The first one was inspired and modeled after a ship someone made for the 3D Warehouse. The new 2014 version of Warrior II is made to kind of look like the ship if Titanic had a daughter.

2 pointsI am currently working on a small American city called Dullamore Creek. It's on the verge of bankruptcy and a once major lucrative and profitable industry is now falling apart. The city is based on real world American smalltowns. Currently debating wether if I want to make it a city journal or not...
-
1 pointStarted this city back in January prior to picking up the Cities of Tomorrow (COT). I've been back to it from time to time and eventually added COT. I prefer a slow progression game growing out then up. A scenic new start Power and water Residents moving in Up from the beach Down from the hills. Cruise ship passing by but no reason (or place) to dock. A town hall for service administration and bureaucrats; one of the first major buildings as you enter the town. Spying from a distance Citizens complained about the mess but it will cost them. Where there are people there is bound to be injury and sickness. Our first clinic. We need jobs! The parents need a break from their kids so we built a school

1 pointI just got back into the game. This time around, I'm creating a realistic looking region that doesn't use huge amounts of custom content. To start off, here's a large picture of Central Colbitz and the surrounding tiles. [6143x2861] Thank you for viewing.

1 pointJust kidding, that would be overkill. But seriously, I think it looks fine on the south. I would just recommend turning the road to the south into an avenue the whole way down, because there's no way for that transition from avenue to road to look aesthetically-pleasing.

1 pointHere is my newest, and probably best airport I ever built. It is definitely not as good as other airports on SImtropolis, but it is the best I built so far. Anyways, this is the Powhatan International Airport, the largest airport in Powhatan Island (you can see further information on this airport in my CJ -- see the link to the CJ in my signature block).

1 pointUsually with tiles its a good idea to use a base image that provides colour differentiation between the tiles. It may not be immediately noticeable from the ground, but tiles will usually have some variation in them. We usually exaggerate this, as with most things in BATing, due to the scale. Here's an example of what I mean: This will make your tiles stand out more. Also, they look completely matte, there should be some shininess to them, don't go overboard though, probably set to reflectivity 0.3 and glossiness 0.3 should do it. The rendering problem I'm guessing is due to the LODs being too small. Unhide them and make sure your model is completely covered, and if not, delete LODs 4&5, resize LOD3 using the normal manipulation tools, then press the 'LODs 4&5' button to replicate the LODs perfectly. With the glass, I recommend just starting with a thin geometry preset, then if you want to give them a green tinge, go down to Advanced Rendering Options in the material editor, under Refraction place a tick in the 'Max Distance' box, set distance to about 1m, then tick the 'Color at Max Distance' and make the swatch a turquoise colour. That should get you pretty close to what you need, then you can just make some tweaks as needed. Probably should increase the IOR to around 1.6 - 1.8, but if its too reflective lower it of course. Hope this helps, let me know if any of that didn't make sense.
-
1 pointThat's what the GLR Draggable Extension Plugin is for. It adds two additional styles of Draggable GLR, which are model-based rather than texture-based--the tracks are one layer, and then there's a single base layer that's used throughout. The defaults are a grass base and a sandstone base. If you want to switch out the bases, the IID for the grass base is 0x5f888104, and the IID for the sandstone base is 0x5f88c104. Just replacing that single texture will make the entire set conform to whatever replacement you've used. -Tarkus
-
1 pointBecause custom content is really very personal, it is hard to specify what may be invalidated between sets. When the new NAM 31 came out, I did a complete review and removed anything transport related (to another folder) before installing the NAM. I even removed the previous NAM. All things being considered, I think you are probably in this position. After the clean up and installation of the NAM, it is easy to review and put things back until something breaks.
