  1. Show us your bridges!

I'm not surprised this hasn't come up yet seeing as there aren't too many bridges out there! I hope to see more of them. They require some creativity but can get pretty amazing results with a bit of work! Here's my contribution. The Morningstar Bridge! Enjoy! PS: I haven't figured out yet how to disable the default bridges, only remove the pillars :/
  2. [CSL] Show us what you're working on!

One of the biggest problems I have is never being able to finish or even really delve into a project anymore, and that's because I lose motivation halfway through because I have no plan. So, I turned to planning everything out ahead of time. Not too specific but what and where things will be zoned and major roads and areas are have already helped.

Back again, guys! This time with a midsized skyscraper (right at 270 meters high). I present to you PhoenixNews International, your number one source for news around the world! She's a fully functional landmark, with 1500 CO$$$ jobs. The tower sits on a 5x3 very simple lot. It'll be in the Landmarks menu. Plop cost is $250,000, but it provides a moderate income of $2,500 monthly (communications taxes ) Dependency (just one!) BCS BAT Props Mattb325 (Vol 02) (Parking Garage next to building) Enjoy! -daTS
  4. Show Us Your Skylines Interchanges

    Interchange? How about intersection?
  5. Show us your Detail Shots

I love it. What LUT do you use?
  6. Show us your Detail Shots

Ah, the train light pack. They unfortunately don't emit any light, so I put the airport lights in. Not sure which pack they're in. I know they're rail yard lights though. As for industrial decor, It may be a part of the an industrial decor pack. I honestly can't remember.
  7. Ronyx

There needs to be more bridges like this. Good mid-sized bridges that can span smaller rivers, not just a big ass bay. I love this bridge.
  8. Show us your Detail Shots

@Matthias King the lights are the standard airport lights, they come with the game. Same with the pallets of barrels. You need the prop anarchy tool to place props. Warehouse comes with a Harbor pack (can't remember which one, but just look on the steam workshop for container yards). As for Illium City? Well, it's the capitol city of my AIN country. http://aoin.eu/wiki/index.php?title=Illium_Kingdom @Mr_Maison Thanks for the compliment!

  11. Okay so, long story short, I'm starting a futuristic conversion for Cities Skylines. Think Anno 2205 but without all the micromanagement Creating the models and textures aren't really an issue anymore (other than the time it takes)... But before I start, many of my concepts involve visible "underground" or "below ground level" portions of the asset. Any idea how the asset editor handles these? Similar to this: See how the center part is "underground"? If it's not possible then I need to modify my concepts. Just curious if anyone knew.
  12. Show us your Downtown/CBD

I love this! I love this so much! I've got a monster of a PC so I wonder how good this would look on my PC... if I could get CSL to work Also, I want your bridges. You got workshop links?
  13. Is anyone else encountering this? When I load a save or new map, I get this really strange error where the tiles that are unlocked have zero sea level and terrain flattened at zero. I've never seen this before. When I zoom in, the whole thing glitches out. I also can't place roads or anything else. This is the vanilla game on a vanilla map. No mods are here.
  14. As many of you know, I'm part of the AIN, and my beautiful country the Kingdom of Illium is the dominant superpower in the southern hemisphere. Well, I've decided to rebuild Illium City, this time in Cities Skylines. If you want more information on the Kingdom of Illium, please feel free to check out the Kingdom's wiki HERE. It is incomplete, though. Keep that in mind. Anywho, I started using Atys' community map, which is beautiful (although I think the sea level could be raised a bit, which I might do). I wanted to start this CJ with something central to Illium City: The Sariah International Airport. It's the southernmost city in the Kingdom of Illium's mainland, and air travel is the most efficient way to get here from international locations. I won't waste so much time talking. I'll get to what you all really love: The picture dump. (See post below mine) EDIT::: Okay so for some reason image tags just don't work. :/ Just click the links for pictures. It's a photobucket problem. I wont use it for future updates. The bridge connection from the port. https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/daTSchikinhed/City%20Journal/Illium%20City%202_0/2016-03-03_00011_zpssb9dlraj.jpg What you see directly after getting off the bridge! https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/daTSchikinhed/City%20Journal/Illium%20City%202_0/2016-03-03_00002_zpsyvkswmjo.jpg Main entrance for parking and regional/international flights. https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/daTSchikinhed/City%20Journal/Illium%20City%202_0/2016-03-03_00009_zpsrlo8hq69.jpg There is a LOT of parking at SIA. https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/daTSchikinhed/City%20Journal/Illium%20City%202_0/2016-03-03_00010_zpsrw8envvm.jpg Terminal A, domestic flights. I haven't zoned the city yet. It's mainly just.. roads.
  15. Illium City 2.0 || Plans for the Future

Okay so, I keep bouncing around everywhere and I can't seem to do just one area, and it makes it where nothing gets done, so I laid out plans on what I wanted done. I'm going to work starting from the outside in. Hopefully, by planning things out, I'll actually get more done. The International Airport is all but complete, and I'm almost finished re-working Port Helios. Manticore Station needs a couple tweaks then it'll be done. I'll start with Jasmin after that, as it's primarily a small suburb. I'll then start on Fox River. It's the main northern suburb, and it's where all the "Social Elites" live, and a majority of the Nobles that live in the Illium Metro area. I'll then start on Highland Village and King's point, which are both your standard suburban sprawl type towns. I'll finish it off with the farming town of Prosper. After that, i'll move to the daunting task of Illium City itself. Any input would be great.
  16. Illium City 2.0 || Plans for the Future

Just a teaser, for things to come.
  17. Welcome, my fellow Simptropians! This here is my very first CJ As it is my first, I don't expect it to be near as fancy as any of the others, but I am having a blast making it. In today's Update, I'm going to first show you the two current tiles I have. The first, Illium City, is intended to be the Capitol City of the Illium Region (which is a self-made 1:1 scale of Ace Combat 6's "Gracemeria"). The second is Nos Astros County. Note: Most, if not all of this is fictional. Names have been used from several sources, including Stargate SG1, Mass Effect, and Real Life. Anywho, STORYTIME! Note: I'll be addressing the general public as if they were a high-ranking military commander of another Ally nation. :::Welcome to Illium City::: Rainy night tonight, sir. We'll be flying into Illium International. Might want to buckle up. Pilot says there could be some turbulence on approach. If you'll look out your rightside window as we land, you'll see Illium City's industrial district. Most of our dirty manufacturing has moved farther inland. Illium City enjoys clean air thanks to a boost in high-tech industry. Sorry about the bumpy flight in, Commander. Thankfully, we're riding along I185, which was repaved a little over a year ago. It was rated the smoothest ride in the country. Oh! We're crossing Memorial Avenue! On the left is our crown-jewel of shopping, the Illium City Mall. On the right is Steven M. Davidson Memorial Hospital. Possibly our greatest remembered war hero, Staff Sergeant Davidson gave his life for former Queen Sariah and ensured her safety 20 years ago. Almost any Illian can recite the story verbatim. He drove his Tank straight into a wall of infantry and light vehicles and kept them occupied long enough to keep the palace from being overrun by enemy forces. Anywho, moving on, we're now crossing over University Drive. On the right, you'll see the University of Illium. Finest university in the nation! Sir, if you'd like, I can pull some strings and have your daughter begin next semester here. Intelligence says she's a great Cello player, and the U of I Chamber Orchestra is ranked #1 in the world! We need to make a stop by the Capitol District before I drop you off at your new house. That large central building is our Parliament building. Just to the right of it is the Sariah Memorial. Queen Sariah, you'll learn, is probably the 2nd best leader we've ever had, following our current leader, Queen Alexis II. Behind the Sariah memorial is the Ministry of Defense. That's our stop. We're going to run inside and get you full security clearance. This won't take long at all. Alrighty, let's get you to your house. This is it! 4535 Talon Cir. I'll pick you up at 9am. Sleep well, sir! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Good Morning Sir! I hope you slept well. Today I'm we're going to visit a neighboring county, but it's quite a drive. Let's stop for coffee! Now that the sun's up and that rain's gone, you can see the beauty of the neighborhood we've put you in. This part of the city is called Grapevine. This and Arbor Glen near the financial district are the two wealthiest areas of the city! How about that view?! :::Nos Astros County::: Well, sir, we're entering Nos Astros county. Here is where most of the food for Eastern Illium City is grown. The two small towns, Prosper and Jasper are located within this county. Prosper has exploded in population in the past two years, going from just over 800 to almost 4000 residents after I185 finished all the way through. Jasper has been around for a while, but now that the I630 Bypass is connected with I185, it's looking like a good area for population growth too. Here's a quick map of the city limits. First, sir, we'll stop by Jasper in the southeast portion of the county. The mayor is an old friend of mine. It's a quiet town of about 700. I'm planning on retiring here, if they ever let me go! *chuckle* Our next stop is in the City of Prosper. We're travelling on Regional Highway 42 right now. On the left, sir, you'll see Prosper High School, home of the Prosper Broncos, which serves all of Nos Astros County. Well, for now, at least. And here's the Food Lion, our local Grocery store, and the pharmacy. We are coming up on I185. On the left is the Holiday Inn hotel. Prosper is generally a popular spot to stay when travelling in and out of Illium City. Crossing under 185, on the right, you'll see Nos Astros medical center. This is a recent addition to the town, and it helped spawn the growth of Prosper. It needs a staff of almost 500. While a good portion travel from the city, most of the staff stay here in Prosper or in Jasper. And this intersection, RH 42 and Main Street, is the original town center. Plans to widen and make a roundabout are still on the table at town hall. And our last stop for today is the newest portion of Prosper. This mostly developed after the hospital was built. Five years ago, it was just an empty road. The only thing around were the cattle loading stations on the railroad and a couple of ranch houses, and nothing but fields. There are more plans to expand further north from here along RH 94 (which runs between the cattle loading stations. Until next time!
  18. NO LONGER UPDATED // The Illium Empire

Whoah, mega bump. You just revived a 4 year old topic man. That's generally frowned upon. Honestly, The major ones I used were NAM (at the time it was NAM 30, I think they're on version 34 now?), and just a bunch of buildings I downloaded from the STEX. It's more a personal preference. I play Cities: Skylines now. I haven't played SimCity 4 in probably a year or two now..
  19. [CSL] Show us what you're working on!

Your images remind me so much of Gotham. I love it!
  20. [CSL] Show us what you're working on!

This really should be a pinned topic. I'm working on this beauty Overview Road Layout for the entrance.
  21. Show us Your Interchanges!

I would have done a DDI for higher flow rates at that diamond interchange, but overall looks fantastic.
  22. So, I've been really loving Cities: Skylines. I can't just make one city and work on it like I could in SC4. I love the open landscape and experimenting with new ideas and maps in multiple cities. Rather than make a bunch of CJs, I thought I'd just put together a scrapbook of everything I do! I really hope you enjoy this update. Please note that areas are subject to change when things need to be updated Helios City: A growing, hustle and bustle coastal city in the far northwestern of Emmeria (based upon, but not a duplicate of the nation in the Ace Combat series). Here's a city overview, with some of the major districts (that I've created so far) listed! Westgate is a little outdated since this was added. There's now a lovely beach on the south end of the peninsula, which I'll show off later Shapiro Harbor! I really enjoyed making this. It was a challenge, let me tell you! In the left-center of the shot, you can see the L. E. Bensfield Nuclear Generating Station. Here's the CBD's skyline as seen from the Shapiro Harbor Beach! It's not exactly a large beach, but one of the only accessible ones to those living near the Harbor. Harrington Quarry. This is what happens when you have a large area rich in ore on a ridgeline. You make a quarry! You can also see the Harrington Industrial Transit Station in the left side. Rain effects courtesy Photoshop and boredom while babysitting The Helios Times tower rooftop is a great place to view over the area. I hope you enjoyed it
  23. Firstly, I would like to welcome you all back to the life of the Kingdom of Illium. She's been reborn, this time as a part of the Alliance of Independent Nations (AIN)! I rebooted it after a hiatus from the world (Working 60+ hours a week will do that to you), but thankfully I'm back to a normal schedule (around 45 hours a week), and I seem to have more time. I was offered a place in the AIN, and I quickly accepted. I decided to reboot the Kingdom, rather than continue it in it's former, messy state, which had too many conflicting ideas and locations. Here's a world map of the AIN, for those not familiar with it. (Asgard is missing, since it's no longer an official part of the AIN, but I intend to actively roleplay with Fox here at Simtropolis) --AIN MAP-- And now, more about the Kingdom! **Please note that some of the ingame image captions do not match the description above them. One thing I most certainly do strive for is realism.
  25. The Kingdom of Illium // ISIS Targets the Alliance

Honestly, the fire and smoke was easy. The hardest part of that post was the weather radar images for the Kingdom. Took me the better part of an hour to do just that part alone.
