9 pointsI was messing around with making the best HRW tunnel I could make using monorail. Then I was looking at old photos from my 2018 city and I had an idea to dig out the old Bullet Train mod and after a couple of hours of trying things out I figured out how to make a fully functioning AND aesthetically pleasing HRW tunnel. (Actually I am not sure it's HRW, possibly just HSR trains can pass through, have to test it out more). I was kind of amazed that this worked so well and although not necessarily workable for tight-space tunnels as it takes a bit of space to integrate L0 trackage, it would work if you had to tunnel under a mountain or half of Manhattan and the east river... And I also had not seen this particular HSR train in quite a while, I forgot how nice it was. The old picture that gave me the idea to try this out. I had always wanted to see a bullet train come screaming out of this tunnel but it never happened. I might get there now though.

7 pointsI can also assist in any of the roles. I have a few GB of downloaded mods, most with both night light modes. I also have some unpacked from the time when they were .exe, although I think they would already be outside the affected period. By the way, I have already updated my few lost files.

No dependencies A follow-up from my Postwar Garden Apartments, these are FA2 oriented versions representing the many garden apartment complexes in the suburban northeast, and across the country. They use a custom base model which is similar, but different to the Maxis barracks prop included in the other set. 8 simple landmark lots included, nothing fancy. Left and right rotations. The name is "FA2 Oakdene Gardens" in bldgplop, this is an old file, I hope you like it anyway Use these below to create big complexes, but you don't need them as a dependency. -

Here's one more take on an American classic - garden apartments, inspired by urban Northern NJ! No dependencies, represented as a 3x4 growable R$ lot. This time, clad in brick with huge Greek Revival columns that really dignify the place. They grow without water if you zone medium density residential, to provide missing middle housing and visual continuity for urban areas, while stepping density in a realistic way. Download similar apartment complexes here: Enjoy, feel free to redistribute and re-lot, share your creations on the stex -
4 pointsMy fault. Thanks for the heads-up... I've been restoring PEG's files and forgot to hit the 'Delete Banner' button on that one which activates the download. It's the last step in the process, and I've caught myself forgetting it once in while. It should be cleared now.

Want to recreate a rounded garden square like those of central London? Here's a curved row of Regency stucco mansions you can plop once or twice around a crescent or an oval, complemented by the respective centrepieces. Along with the 11x2 crescent lot I've also included a 4x3 orthogonal lot named "Stucco Villas". These S3D models can be enjoyed from any camera angle, and the all-inclusive file weighs only 142 KB. HOW TO USE: 1) Lay down a street crescent or oval as in the images 2) Prompt the "BuildingPlop" extracheat, look for "R$$$ JFF Stucco Crescent", and plop it to match the street layout 3) "Growify" as low or medium density residential 4) Find the "Crescent Square" or the "Oval Square" in your parks menu and plop it at the centre 5) Decorate the gardens and square with your favourite MMPs. If you use the Plop&Paint mod, you'll be able to decorate even the bits overhanging the street, as I've done in the images. For the Villas, you can simply zone low or medium density Chicago tileset or plop them with the same extracheat. DEPENDENCIES: Essential for the models: JFF Row Houses Diagonal Pack 1 JFF Row Houses Megapack 01 JFF Row Shops Pack 01 JFF Row Shops Pack 03 JFF Semidetached Houses Diagonal Pack 1 Recommended for prop variety: (the usual ones) (BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01 BSC Mega Props - CP Vol02 BSC MEGA Props - D66 Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - DAE Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - Gascooker Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - Jen_P Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - Jes Vol02 BSC MEGA Props - Misc Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - Misc Vol02 BSC MEGA Props - MJB Vol01 BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol 01 BSC MEGA Props - swi21 Vol01 BSCBATPropsMattb325_Vol02) all contained in the BSC Common Dependencies Pack AGC Environment DLC 3.0.0 or later AGV Heuvelstraat 109 & Stationsstraat 41 BSC Mansion - Uppark Estate Davide outdoor set V1 SFBT Essentials has_dependencies If your sims enjoy their new, well-rounded squares let me know through likes and reviews, and stay tuned for more coming to the STEX! justforfun -
3 pointsHi all, Hopefully these 'found' files can be restored in some fashion, but it will take some time. If there is anything in particular that you might need, and it was attached to a post here, let us know. We might be able to 'dig' it up...
-
3 pointsIf I remember correctly, I believe it was something he coded to separate the Club uploads from the non-Club files since they Club files were overwhelming the STEX listing (it's probably up the thread a ways...). It was done a little bit before the site went down, so I was wondeing if somehow the restoration had eliminated it. However, I thought I had seen it a couple days ago, so I'm not sure where it stands.
-
3 pointsI think it has been a few days, but I noticed that the 'Clubs' listings section on the homepage is no longer displaying. Just checking to see if it was 'turned off' while waiting for restoration, or if it an actual 'issue'. Thanks
-
3 pointsI'm not sure if this is still up or what, it was updated 5 minutes ago, but it still says the file is missing?

3 pointsIf we're aggregating everything together, I'll throw mine in as well. A few of these have already been restored. nos17 sc4pac cache.html

3 pointsI finished this park that I had started quite a while ago. I'm finding that parks are one of the things that help you preserve a view corridor in a dense city to an area you particularly want to be able to see.

2 pointsIt's sort of a derivative accomplishment but an interesting one actually. Flag counter reported that my latest CJ entry was visited by someone based in Seychelles. That's the most exotic country I collected so far. Any of you guys spending holiday there?
-
2 pointsI've gotten it to work via the crossplatform module. It took a bit of figuring everything out. Now I'm slowly moving my large dependencies & BAT folders.

2 pointsI know that feeling, I keep forgetting to check my email. Executive dysfunction is a nightmare, I rambled about it to myself last night as I was lying in bed. I think most of the teams have disappeared, actually. Not sure who is and isn't left, beyond the NAM and CAM still being active. Which is a shame, as we have a lot more tools now than we did before...

2 pointsA fully-functional stucco crescent with garden centrepiece: An oval garden square will be included too. On the STEX later today! UPDATE:

2 pointsSeeing Simtropolis disappearing and then reading the news about the server being wiped surely was a blow, so I'm very happy to see it back online. I'm pretty amazed about this community still going strong after so many years, and while I've been out of the loop for so long, SC4 still has a place in my heart, and I will return every now and then and check out what's new. Hopefully, most of the stuff that was lost will be recovered, and while I sent all SFBT content to @Tyberius06 recently, I wonder how feasible it is to update everything to the current standards (such as the Submenu DLL feature etc.) and release it properly at the STEX. I just checked my profile, and it says that I signed up here almost 23 years ago, which means this is basically about one half of my entire life, since I happen to celebrate my 50th birthday today, so seeing it up and running is a nice birthday present alright. I'd like to thank everyone who is supporting the community and helping to restore this place. There have been way too many losses over the past few years due to unexpected errors, deprecated software and even tragic losses like the unexpected and way too early death of our good friend Matthias "Spocky" Ludwig about three years ago, who ran the German SimCityKurier. Also, thanks for Dirk for an in-depth explanation about the recent ST billing issue. Sometimes you're just out of luck and miss a deadline by one day, and according to Murphy's Law, things are bound to get messed up the worst possible way. But it's not the end of the world, and I'm positive that most things can be recovered one or another way. Only time will tell if this place will celebrate a 50th birthday some day, too, but I'd say it's not impossible.

2 pointsWhere we've been, what happened, and what's next Hey everyone, I owe you all an explanation, and a big thank you first. The patience and the kind messages over the last few weeks have meant a lot to me and the rest of the team. A bunch of you have been asking what actually happened, and who our old host was, so I'm just going to lay it all out. For 15+ years we ran Simtropolis on a dedicated server over at WHC.ca. They were good to us for a long time. What happened recently is that we missed a renewal payment, and then I missed the warning emails that came after it. By the time I caught it, we were already a day past their cutoff and the server had been pulled offline. We got in touch right away, paid the invoice, and were told the server would be brought back online. Then came the gut-punch. Instead of restoring it, they wiped the machine and handed it back to us completely blank. Everything was gone. I won't pretend I wasn't upset. But I also need to be straight with you about our end of it. We didn't have proper off-site backups, and we absolutely should have. That one is on us, and trust me, it's a lesson learned. Thankfully, CB and Cori have been much more diligent with some periodic backups so we weren't completely left in the lurch. Just mostly. But the better news is where we are now. We've rebuilt everything on a new host, Hetzner, and I have to say we're really happy with them so far. The hardware has been rock solid and their support has been genuinely excellent. The forum, your accounts, your posts, and the huge majority of our history are all back and running. We've also got automated off-site backups going already, with a more complete system on the way, so we are never doing this dance again. We've been through rough patches before and come out the other side just fine, and we'll do it again, only a lot better protected this time around. Thanks for sticking with us, thanks for caring, and thanks for your patience while we got the lights back on. Anyway. Back to building cities!

2 pointsWelcome back, everyone! It is nice to have Simtropolis back after that unexpectedly long hiatus. The pictures from my posts to this thread are restored; my STEX uploads will soon follow. Despite the site's downtime, my BATting has not ceased. In fact, I would say it has accelerated. So, it is time for some updates. The work continues… Work continues apace on 1 S Wacker. The roof junk needs some refinement, as do the ground floor interiors. I finally figured out how to use the material offset setting in the solidify modifier. With it, I was able to create the effect of a metallic film on the glass enclosing the atria. I really like how it looks, especially at night. More progress updates Here are the latest previews of a number of my works in progress. Teasers Finally, I think it's time I share some projects that I have been keeping under wraps. Since I have posted too many previews already, I thought it might be fun to tease them instead. Some longtime followers of the BATting subforums might recognize three of these, which a BATter who has not been seen for many ages once attempted, but never completed, much to the chagrin of us Chicago architecture fans. Can anybody name them?
-
2 pointsDuring the latest extended downtime of Simtropolis, to put it mildly, I fortunately had some time to work on my next CJ entry, this time dealing with the islands surrounding Birkenhang. Hope you like it.

1 pointHi everyone! Initial progress has been productive in restoring content, but we really need your help. We're seeking volunteers who are able to assist our recovery efforts in any capacity (big or small). We extend this invite to all active Simtropolis members. The Simtropolis Recovery Team (SRT) will be spearheaded by site staff (and led by Cori and me), but this will understandably be a task of mammoth proportions. At first it might seem like progress is slow, but then again we might surprise ourselves? There is absolutely no limit to the number of places on the team at any stage. Every little helps, and we'd be thankful for whatever you can assist with. What can volunteering involve? The main task will be to restore everything missing from after 17 June 2024 to March 01, 2026. That's 622 days of missing content. Logically, the primary focus will cover STEX content for SC4 and the other city-building games. SC3000 files won't be forgotten about here either, as there were a number of new uploads since the cut-off period (June 2024). There are also more niche files from Clubs, including for Banished. Depending on your comfort level and ability, you may request to help with any/all of the following: A) Sharing: Uploading content you have downloaded between the aforementioned time period. There are no worries about sharing files someone else might've already uploaded. It might be your copy is an older version which can later be restored. Having more files gives us a stronger baseline to work from. There might be clutter and chaos initially, but in time order will become more orchestrated. B) Processing: This will be the bulk of the work, spearheaded by staff. We'll be coordinating with volunteers to help physically upload files, ideally as the author originally had them. Instructions will be provided for anyone unfamiliar with the board software tools. C) Verifying: Making sure updates are valid, or if there's anything else which needs fixing or amending. Verifiers will have access to a "Verify" button added to the File Actions menu, which then marks a file as completely restored. I'll be developing a "Restoration Tracker" page to serve as a real-time index of progress. This way we can identify files which need finding, editing, and checking. Additionally, recovery efforts will extend to the forums, CJs, Gallery, and other areas. There will be a number of attachments (images, zip files, etc) which we'll be hoping to restore, many of which will require manual intervention. Every file is a small piece of the jigsaw puzzle. It's important to remember this will be a marathon not a sprint. For this reason, it'll be more important we restore files correctly and accurately as possible. Also we won't frown upon mistakes. This is a shared united effort, so we'll work as a team to ensure everything is done the best it can be. Please reply below, briefly explaining how you'd be able to help (as a Sharer, Processor, or Verifier), or even in other ways not listed. And it goes without saying, there are no rewards for volunteering, other than the humble moral satisfaction of helping rebuild our community. -CB & Cori

1 pointHello all. Usually I do not post much myself but if I can help somehow I'd like to do that. I have 54+ GB of zipped plugins saved to my computer from long long time ago up until recently. If needed I can upload them to OneDrive or something and it'll be for you to choose whatever you need.

Skye’s Regional Freeway Mod Skye's Regional Freeway Mod is a mod developed by Skye Storme and was available on his website, but with the closure of this website, this mod has been lost until now. This mod creates a new type of road that is identical to High Density Streetcar Avenue but with the ability to go outside the city limits and create more connections to the highway. This mod is compatible with both Online Mode and Offline Mode. Installation Copy Regional Freeway.package into the EA Games\SimCity\SimCityData folder. -
1 pointAutomated Notice Message All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash. We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.) This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.

Polish Prop Packs - Jacks Iberiada Set Models by Jack (simcitypolska) This Polish Prop Packs - Jacks Iberiada Set Models contains all 61 models, that Jack created for his Iberiada Sets in a single DAT file. This DAT file now also contains prop examplars for each building and each prop examplar is organized into one or more Prop Families. There is a Polish Prop Packs - Jacks Iberiada Set Models-PropFamilyIDs.jpg in the ~Documents/Prop-Texture Catalogue Index and Cleanitol folder which shows the used IDs, the name of prop families and how many props belong to each family. Please note, as part of the SimCity Polska Restoration efforts and with the permission of the Simtropolis Staff Members (Cyclone Boom, CorinaMarie and Tyberius06), this file has been uploaded on behalf of Jack. This pack was created for easier use in case of 3rd party relots, see related discussion here. This prop pack replaces the models from the original Iberiada Set**, and acts as a dependency for other sets. This prop pack is coming with its own prop examplars and prop families; it may work as a dependency for @kergelen's Iberiada Set re-lotted, but it does NOT replaces the prop examplars and prop families that Kergelen created for his re-lot set. **To avoid conflicts, please, it is highly recommended to use any of the third party cleanitol tools and remove any previous versions from your plugins. Optionally in the ~Documents folder in the main ZIP you can find the cleanitol script and by using either the newer nos.17's SC4 Cleanitol or the older BSC Cleanitol tool you can search and remove old and outdated versions of these files. Installation: Copy/extract the SCP parent folder into your plugins. If you extracted the ~Documents folder into your plugins, too, it's highly recommended to keep it, but move it out of the Plugins folder. Un-Installing: To un-install the files, simply bulldoze every lot from this download in your cities and delete the files from the plugins folder afterwards.
