5 pointsYear Four From nothing to over ten thousand people in just four years – what an accomplishment. The Royal President Sidebe Mallam reflected back at the beginnings of Kafra, when ground was broken on the Kafra Powerplant and the Kafra Seaport. It had come a long way since then – granted, most of the growth was unplanned and chaotic, with shanty towns covering all corners of the capital city, but there was also beauty. The Independence Hall, which also served as the seat of the Desera Council and the Royal Residence, was the first permanent building constructed inside of Kafra, surrounded by green grass, a rare sight in the hostile desert. The Bahr Mosque, although small compared to other such buildings around the world, was the heart of the town, along with the Kafra Church of Peace. Around them were the residences of the tribal leaders and the small but growing middle class of Kafra. The streets that their homes sat on were lined with trees, and their gardens lush with greenery. Few knew, but Royal President Mallam had become obsessed with European architecture after visiting London and Paris the previous year. He wanted Deseran architecture to mimic those 18th and 19th century buildings he saw, and imagined a day that Kafra would be as steeped in history as those two capitals. The Independence Hall itself was designed after a similar building that stood in Philadelphia in the United States, and there were quite a few buildings in Kafra that were being constructed in that American/European 19th century style. Still, most of the town was made of houses one would generally find the poorer areas of a North African/Middle Eastern town, which made sense because of Desera’s large Arabic heritage and influence. The Royal President quite disliked the look of the town, but in order to grow the country, he knew he had to first establish a capital city worth something, and for that he needed population. In terms of civic infrastructure, the capital city of Kafra had the necessities – the Desera Council had just completed the Kafra Public Hospital and the Kafra Preparatory School, at the cost of E10 million and E5 million, respectively. While the only fee a family had to pay for public education was the E100 enrollment charge per child, healthcare was not free. Instead, the Desera Council devised the National Healthcare Insurance (NHI) company, which was a wholly own government subsidy. Anyone covered with the NHI would receive free healthcare at the Kafra Public Hospital, and the fees were made very affordable on purpose so that the general population could receive the healthcare they needed. Commercial activity had also become relevant in Kafra, with people from all over the country coming down to central Kafra to do business, both with fellow Deserans and foreigners. A lot of Kafrawis (Kafrawi is the name given to residents of the capital city) where supporting themselves and families through fishing, and the Kafra Fish Market had become an extremely busy place, especially during the morning. Overall, there was no question it was the commercial hub of Desera, and there was even a few companies who had constructed warehousing down the western end of Masjid Street, mostly to store and wholesale food stuff products. The population of Kafra at the end of Year Four was officially listed at 10,888, again doubling in size in just one year’s time. The Royal President knew steps had to be taken to facilitate planned urban growth, and the road network in Kafra had to be upgraded in order for such growth to happen. The Desera Council had some excess money in the coffers, and it was time to spend them. Almost E30 million were being put into building 22 branches of the Bank of Desera around the country. A further E10 was going to be invested in further developing the road network in and around Kafra. The biggest project to be undertaken in the coming year, however, was the contruction of the Kafra Palace Hotel, a government owned hotel that was going to cost about E80 million upon completion. With Kafra growing so fast, and the oil industry also poised for growth in the next few years, the council expected to see more high-end visitors to Desera, and needed a place to put them. The private sector was still very young and weak, making such developments impossible to fund, so it was up to the council to make it. The Kafra Palace Hotel project. A sandstorm encompasses Kafra near as the night starts to fade.

5 pointsNot necessarily bad thing if it concerns just interface. How many remakes are better than the original? Removed all that made SC4 so complex and great? Micromanagement has been one of those really important parts of SimCity for me, I want to be charge of everything in my cities, with more options to do so the better. So it seems this will be great game for new gamers, or those that found SC4 too hard :| . I would really like to hear some thoughts from old time SimCity veterans who have had hands on time with this, cause I still want to believe this will be great game. Smokki, I wrote that article, and I'd like to take the opportunity to expound some on the concerns you have. First, how it feels a little bit like The Sims and Sim City in the interface. You've probably seen form screenshots, how the interface elements are at the bottom of the screen and you dive into categories from there. It's an interface that's been in Sim games since oh, SimGolf- it's clean, and unobtrusive, yet it is unmistakably a Sim game. It certainly looks better, but it does not deviate from what you're already used to. Next, the micromanagement of power, water, and sewage. What's been removed is the need to lay power, roads, water, and sewage independently. When you lay a road down, you are also laying down all of those. It does take a bit of micromanagement out of the game, but there are still other factors that the player still has to manage, you can have everything connected via a road, but if you do not have sufficient capacity, a good amount of water towers built in the right places, or enough power generation plants, you're still SOL. In the demo, turning on my power plant for the first time, watching workers arrive at the plant, and then seeing it go online, and lights coming on throughout your town was quite something to behold. Finally, your concern that this game will be something more for casual players as opposed to the hard core. What I played was, of course, a very early alpha build, and what was shown was a demo stage that had an introductory tutorial. The tutorial did a good job of introducing the concepts of the game, and leads into the quest type system with a very small pre-built town. I'm sure that they will give you the opportunity to start from scratch if you like. The quests can also be ignored - but they're milestones that a dedicated player will want to hit on their own, if memory serves me, the first was to reach a certain population, and to attain a certain level of income. I hope this helps clear things up!

3 pointsReplies to The American Civil War - Part 2 Blunder: "The only thing more terrible than a battle won is a battle lost" Marvelous execution, simcoug. Thank you Blunder! nedal2001: That has to be one of the finest historical updates I have ever seen. The accuracy of the historical facts coupled with relevant and breath-taking pictures - bravo, my friend, bravo! Thanks for the kind comment! TowerDude: Amazing Thanks! dubaidude303: WOW!!! This is very awesome! Great work! Thanks! LastTrueChamp: I love that manor in the last picture. I was really happy how that turned out as well – It took some time to find a BAT that would pass for the Appomattox Court House, but I think I got pretty close. Mithrik: Incredible work you did there! I like a lot who you built Atlanta. And kakado really made an excellent work with his photo-editing skills. Kakado blew me away when he sent over the Atlanta pic – the fire and smoke effects are amazing. Schulmanator: Well done! Congrats to both of you -- this collaboration is truly impressive! Thanks Schulmanator – I had a lot of fun working with kakado. Ggamgus: This has been an excellent historical SC4 lesson from SimCoug and Kakado. GREAT JOB, GUYS! *applauds* Thank you! Who knows, additional collaborative projects may find their way into this journal in the future… Jetty Jockey: Outstanding work, once again. Without a doubt, the most impressive thing I've seen on Simtrop. 5/5 , only because they won't let me rate any higher. Thanks Jetty! Kevenbro: Once again, I'm Amazed Thanks for the comment bro! Evillions: I have no words for this epicness... O_O You depicted all the major battles with great accuracy (given with the game's limitations), used a great selection of BATs, and made everything look lively. All of that with kakado's photo editing; let the pictures speak for themselves. Thanks Evillions. The game definitely has its limitations, but the enormous volume of BATs and mods allow for some pretty creative scenes Blakeway: -_- you make my work look like crap -_- damn you too Eytan! :3 Hardly – you have some spectacular journal entries. Besides, Eytan can make anything look good with his editing skills Mastof: You guys outdo yourselves every time. Just, this is spectacular, a great show of effort between you guys, one of the most horrific wars of that era displayed in such a beautiful way, makes me want to cry in the amazement. Bravo. All the stars. What a great compliment, thanks Mastof! Huston: Wow, spectacular updates, the lotting, photoshopping is all great! A great re-creation of the Civil War. Truly Amazing! Thank you Huston! Hahei: This was amazing! I honestly loved that final picture, with Atlanta in flames. It was beautiful and poignant. Thanks! It took a little time putting that mosaic together, but kakado hit it out of the park with the fire and smoke effects. Kruness: this is history in a very easy way, cause its fun, and i already like history Thanks! Grstudios: Well done! This side project was one of the most detailed and beautiful posts I have ever seen! I admire your and kakado's work, and this really blew me away... Have a good day, Guy Thanks for the kind comment Guy. NMUSpidey: This is probably the most epic update I've seen this year. I could not even imagine stretching SC4 this far before, but here it is. Just incredible. Some interesting General Sherman trivia: General Sherman failed at almost everything he tried in his life to that point, notably a number of banking endeavors in the west. His wife was from a wealthy family, and he had to swallow his pride and send her and their children to live with his family while he tried to figure out how to make money outside of military service, as losing it came naturally to him. His failures hampered his military service as well, and there was no certainty at all as to his leadership and strategic skills prior to the March to the Sea. People in The South still hate him, and I believe there are places where it is simply impossible to name your children William or Sherman. Thank you Spidey. I sort of had an idea of how this would shape up in my head, but it ended up turning out much better than I could have imagined thanks to kakado. Sherman was a very interesting character – I read a book about his Atlanta campaign a while ago and the author argued that the ‘march to the sea’ probably wouldn’t have happened (or been as successful) without his leadership. He was definitely in the right place at right time. Mr.Lin: very nice ! Thanks! MilitantRadical: Really great SimCoug, don't know what else to say. This kind of thing brings SC4 to new levels, thanks for showing us the possibilities. Thanks for the kind words Militant. Jephonesewarrior: I've been to Appomattox before. That is a great representation of the town. Not be mean, but Lee surrendered in the McLean house down the street. Thanks for clearing that up. I chose the courthouse because I was trying to recreate the scene from the real life photo, but I can see how that may have confused folks. Thanks for keeping me honest Next up - It's been 5 years since we last visited New SorGun. The end of the Civil War and the assassination of President Lincoln are big topics of conversation, but the new Hotel that opened up recently near the mill is the hottest gossip around town. One word... Girls.

3 pointsI would suspect that a game takes quite a few years to develop, so saying that there is still 6 months to go and things can change, well the core elements will be in place. The features what have been taken out won't be put back, I would think that the last 6 months before release would be used to tweak what's not quite right and to iron out bugs and so on. In other words, not much will change and the ways the game stands now (going by the information from Maxis) it's not what I expect or want from a city building game.
-
3 pointsThe cityscape interchanges have so nice curves! This is the smoothest i could get in sim city but does it count as a Pinavia?
-
3 pointsWould you enjoy SimCity 2023 if it: - would cost you 100€ (only digital activation as all game files would be located in EA servers) - you would have to pay 20€ / month to be able to play it (minimum 24 month subscription) - the game itself would consist only of plopping buildings in a 500mx500m flat area (all other gameplay features would have been cut because new gamers found SimCity 2013 too hard and complex game) - the game would be fully integrated in facebook so you could show of your 500x500m "city" with achievements like "going crazy with skyscrapers" or "curved road dominator" - leaderboards would be THE big thing in SimCity 2023 with categories like "top DLC buyers" or "quickest building ploppers" - you could unlock new ploppable buildings with only 1,99€/building That might be the climate in 2023 like it is now much worse than it was back in 2003. If more people would whine and voice their opinions rather than just instabuy everything and trust blindly EA, the climate would not be this bad. I really hope Maxis will listen to us and bring back gameplay options that were in SC4. I want SimCity 2013 to be the best SimCity ever.

2 pointsWelcome back, Replies Hazani Pratama: Wow,Awesome. Thanks Hazani. 10000000000000: That marina in the last picture totally got me , so amazing! Hehe, that's why I saved the pic for last. Whoever made that BAT is a frickin' genius. ggamgus: No offense, but this is LITERALLY the best update you've made. Please keep this up. This is an excellent entry. Offense taken! We shall settle this with pistols at dawn! dubaidude303: Very amazing!! Looks very very good dude! Thanks mate! vivapanda: That's a much used air space! As ggamgus sais, this is an absolutely awesome update. ggamgus, that scum! Thanks. SimCoug: Ooooh. I'm interested to see your take on the suburbs. Cool music too - I miss that show. Not ready to delve into those suburbs just yet, so we'll see what happens. Yeah, Battlestar was a sweet show, but in a way I'm glad it ended. I hate when shows just go on and on, makes me lose interest. I'm happy Battlestar had a set journey and fulfilled it. IL.: That's is amazing I love those canals and everything But those airplanes look like bugs or something, very annoying. Where did you get that marina in the last picture? Thanks, you may know this by now but it is the Morris Marina from the SC4 Devotion LEX. VMIUJcadet09: Good lord thats a dense city! I like it a lot. I also like that Ron Paul is your president, I see the Ron Paul Revolution got kicked off somewhere! Heh, you're the first person to point that out. Thanks. Acropolis This is another Zone outlying Avalon that I've given a makeover to. Acropolis previously has a University Campus but since I'm building an epic one in a bigger tile I ditched it. One of the main features I wanted to add to this Zone was some GLR tracks and I also wanted to make greater use of the space by getting rid of a lot of avenues that used to clutter my Zones. The South West part of Acropolis is part of Lazarus Island which is actually divided between three Zones: Olympus, Port Tong, and Acropolis. During the war for Independence one of the final strongholds of the Altherian Empire was on Lazarus Island and the canons in the waterfront parks commemorate their final stand against the Ionicans who eventually took the island. A little bit closer... By the Gods... Bird's eye... Thanks for visiting!

2 pointsReplies: grstudios: Thank you!!! TowerDude: Thank you!! Fox: Thank you!! The building is called "the Beehive" and it's on the STEX. Hellken: Those are eye-candy lots. I'm planning to release some pedmalls with that textures, but I don't know what texture pack was, for dependencies. ggamgus: Thank you!! vivapanda: Thank you too!!! suomi2005: Thank you!!! Jacob Guajardo: Thank you!!! KonstantinII: Not exactly Benedict: Thank you!! : Thank you!!! Personally I like bullfighting, but I understand people that are against it. OK. So we start today's update. As the title says I will show..... tenements! First of all, a 90% of the Vistalegrian population live in flats, and Vistalegre's population is around 6.500.000 inhabitants (almost 10.000.000 in its metropolitan area), so the Vistalegre cityscape (and most of the Iberian cities' one) is full of apartment blocks. First, we visit some buildings near the VA10 motorway, Vistalegre's inner ring road. (Motorways are usually numbered as Axx, being "xx" numbers from 1 to 99, ring roads are a special case, but this will be explained in a special update). These buildings were built in the '70s and '80s, and medium class families live in them mainly. A pic of the motorway... Some mosaics of the area... The ring road seen from the buildings... Let's move on..... Ciudad Jardín is a quiet neighbourhood in the outskirts of Vistalegre, 30 min. driving or 25 min. by subway. It's an example of a standard modern district developed in the 2000s, with wide streets, modern buildings and bicycle paths. Here are some pictures... Economic crysis that Nueva Iberia suffers since 2007 has affected the construction. We can see empty clearings where new housing projects were planned to be built, but those plans were cancelled. Last, but not least, a mosaic of Ciudad Jardín: Hope you liked it!!!

2 pointsBay: Outpost At Schulmania’s southwestern end, Huddleston – the town and its naval base of the same name – serves as the last outpost of felinity before heading out of the feline zone of Schulmania and Harar. Bordering the canine realm of Schulmauckland, Huddleston is quite a melting pot. The leafy, compact town features a sizable military presence as well as the cultural pawprint of cosmopolitan cats. Just how far southwest is Huddleston? This marker at the end of a gravel path marks the southernmost point in the nation. Here’s a counterpart of the marker above… At the border checkpoints, citizens of the two nations need only a passport. Those citizens of states not party to the Coronation Accord or the Wirdle’s Canine Council will require visas. The town centers around the sizable naval installation and its ancillary support services. Tidy barracks quads line the street by the base. A Terra Canis ship has docked and is receiving repairs after a sustained fight with Queensferry vessels. Casualties were light but the damage is extensive. Tanks (‘wampus cats’ in Schulmania) produced at our secret military factory in Port Orange help defend the strategic site from potential attack The town presides over the western entry to Huddleston Bay. It features not just a naval port but a cargo and a commercial port as well. The Port Authority handles imports and exports, such as this shipload of catnip destined for The Wirdleplex Residents feel very secure within the town’s sturdy defenses Much of the housing is very close to the naval base Despite the compact nature of the construction, neighborhoods are always green and leafy Here’s a view of the whole town, looking west

2 pointsMinecraft wasn't made by an internal AAA Studio under the scrutiny of their AAA Publisher. It was an indie project which should be in perpetual Beta. There are completely different expectations for both parties. It's too late for features to change. Though, Bioware did improve Mass Effect 3's ending, maybe the same thing will happen with SimCity. A horde of angry customers, a ton of bad press for EA...

2 pointsYes I agree, and i have already started planning, and going to look for other decent downloadable stuff now A word of caution...(tongue in cheek)...There have been mayors who have gone off on downloading trips to fetch new content for their city and have never been seen again. A little detective work reveals many of them are like slot machine addicts. They sit all day pressing the "Download" button while their sims live homeless in the countryside. So do some downloading and don't forget to go home once in a while and build infrastructure. I'm recovering myself.

2 points
too many harsh comments, clearly the intention is to reduce the amount of commercial needed in a city, which does make it more realistic.... you might notice most REAL cities dont have the rediculous amount of commercial zones required in simcity... you people are nazi scum like 90% of the time, stop criticizing so much... that said, i dont fully understand how this works because of the poor english and so i wont be downloading it... but still its a great idea and id love to see it developed further, or just explained a little better lol, keep up the great work
Many thanks!! You made goal! My intention was to reduce the volume of the space in the city occupied by the commercial building, but don't reduce the number of employs workers, so I increased the number of workers that each building can employ. These "mod" work only with standard commercial buildings: if you download a newest commercial building (for example from simtropolis ) these mod do not works for these building. Sorry again for my poor english... I'm trying to improve. P.S. To do these mod I have edit the "occupancy" value for all commercial buildings, using "ILives Reader"

2 pointsYeah you can. But the games scale is vastly different to real life when you have 26 people living in a 3 bedroom family home. You can do it to a fairly accurate degree but artistic license will always have to be used somewhere. I've done it in my CJ. Also Sim City 4 doesn't have multi-purpose buildings. Shops are just and can't have people living above them. If your careful you can pull it off with a fairly convincing result and all...
-
2 pointsSure it can be done, and all depends on how accurate you want to get. Simcity4 does have limitations that even with good mods, and lots simply cannot over come. So some traffic networks, and other things have to be compromised, or not built altogether if they're really complex. So yes, but with limits. I gave up on doing that kinda stuff, don't got the patients for one, and the limitations. So I just build cities that greatly resemble their real life counterparts and find it much more fun for me personally (like my Los Angeles) And don't forget to stock up on as much custom content as you can to resemble buildings of the area.
-
2 pointsThat's actually about to change... And yes, that's actually a Maxis Highway in RHW-disguise. No trouble with starters and instable overrides, this might actually appeal more novice players. Call it MFRHW (My First Real HighWay ) Best, Maarten
-
2 pointsThey can, but they won't. We are talking about EA here; the company that milks out every dollar possible until the figurative "udders" of the fanbase are bone dry. This is in direct relationship with the ability to mod, or lack thereof. I'm sorry to say this, and I hate to do so, but it's the truth; EA won't allow anything close to what we consider "custom content" for SC4. If the consumer can create content better that EA can, EA won't make money, thus it's out of the question.
-
2 pointsYou releasing a demo then that people can try? Your going in a radical new direction here and of course, people aren't going to shell out the price of a full game for something they don't like the sound of and asking them to buy it on faith. Maxis is releasing a beta version soon (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/beta/info) here you can get the feeling of how the new SimCity is gonna be. Just sign yourself up for the closed beta and experience it yourself.

2 pointsBusinesses that produce a product will most often look at the "cash register" before listening to opinions. That's why a high number of purchasers will always out-weigh a "few" negative opinions. It's when opinion becomes public practice (or law) that business will alter their methods.

1 pointHi everyone- Another construction project, another update. We'll be getting back to some familiar territory for this update . . . I've posted up replies to the last update here. Eriksen-Scarlet Corridor Project, Phase 1 Full regional map [link] Project Area Map (dashed lines indicate realignments): The Eriksen-Scarlet Corridor Project is Project #6, as identified in the current list of Chemeketa-area capital improvement projects. Eriksen Drive NE was built to serve as a neighborhood collector route, providing access between Ashcroft Street NE and residential developments in the area, and was later extended eastward to Rankine Lane NE. Further development has elevated the traffic volumes on Eriksen beyond its capacity, and it has increasingly been used by motorists as a cut-through from Ashcroft to 52nd Avenue NE, via Scarlet Street NE. The situation is especially bad between Ashcroft and Tamarack, a 2-lane section with a 25mph speed limit. This project has been designed to better accommodate current and future traffic patterns in the area. Phase 1 of the project will widen Eriksen from Ashcroft through the S-Curve to 4 travel lanes, while Phase 2 will reconstruct the Eriksen/Scarlet intersection, and build a new, 4-lane alignment of Scarlet between Eriksen and 49th Way NE. This is the current state of the intersection at Eriksen/59th Avenue NE and Ashcroft Street NE (facing west). Just a little farther west, along 59th Avenue NE (facing west). The little stretch of 59th just west of the intersection with Ashcroft will need to be realigned to accommodate the widened Eriksen Drive. Construction begins (facing west): 59th is temporarily closed off for realignment (facing west): Demolition along Eriksen. The widening will only claim two houses (facing west): Progress at the intersection with Ashcroft (facing west). The widening right near the intersection has been more or less completed (facing west). At the east end of the S-Curve (facing west). This is at Tamarack Street NE (facing west). The stretch along the S-Curve has been closed down to speed along the widening. Motorists are advised to use 52nd or 71st in the interim. The curve has been widened (facing west). The improved intersection at Tamarack (facing west). That does it for Phase 1. The next update will focus on Phase 2, the realignment of the eastern portion of the corridor. -Tarkus

1 pointAaron Graham: Yes, this will sit on a 2x2 lot when done. Sgt. Pepper: Thanks. Luckily we've had aaron keeping us alive when others been inactive. T Wrecks: Hah, yeah would have been easier to remember the address. The three water towers was part of the my decision to model this building. Zulu2065: Thanks, the plaza is on hold, but I intend to get back to it as well as all other buildings I've shown, the Plaza Hotel scene got very cluttered and hard to work with, so I've been tidying it up and organizing things to smoothen my work later on. Jasoncw: Yep, I have treated the building as if it was 32m wide from the start. It's an office building, I plan it to be CO$$. Nofunk: Thank you. Vlasky: Thanks, and thanks for that floor plan didn't have that before. And yes, buildings with setbacks like this is very useful when we try to get that NYC feel in our simcities, and there aren't too many of them around. Francis90b: I'll make it a growable CO$$ and a ploppable IM would work quite well too I reckon, and stay true to the real thing (historically at least). I've added some textures and made materials for this now and am done with tonights work and want to show my progress. Textures are not final and there are some parts still to model mostly on the back but also parts of the store front. I think it is a tad dark but I show you what I have anyways. I've used this building to learn how to use Unwrap UVW and I can spot some errors here and there (gaps and stretched bitmaps) but thats easy to fix. Another new tool (for me) I've used is a plugin for 3dsmax that creates dirtmaps, it's called RichDirt and can be found here. A trial version is available for free and is fully functional. Even though it puts watermarks on the maps when they get big it's still useful and it's very easy to use.

1 point@ all hose who are so butt-hurt over the description: Who the heck cares? It's just a dumb description, nothing to get all bent out-of-shape about, (and quite frankly, is FAR too PC for a game like Sim City 4.) Besides, he provided screen shots! You can clearly see with your own eyes exactly what it is.

1 pointHaha, let me clarify. I also believe that I am terrible at ALL games. It's a part of my self-deprecating charm! It's also important to remember that it is still early days. We're at approximately half a year out from release, give or take a few weeks. A lot can change. What I saw from the demo was a good showcase of the direction they want to take this franchise. Though the removal of having to lay down separate infrastructure was something that jumped out of me, what left the most lasting impression upon me was the game's charm. I realized afterwards that as I was playing the game and doing mundane things, like building sewer buildings so my town didn't have poop everywhere, I was smiling. When was the last time you played a game that made you smile? (It was Cards Against Humanity for me, but I'm also a terrible human being.) I'm an advocate of this title, and I came to this message board to talk about it with you guys and gals, because though they have their place in the industry, we have enough Call of Duties and Medals of Honor and Gears of Wars. We need more games that make us smile. We need more games where we cooperate to build things bigger than those we can build by ourselves. Like I said, this title made me smile. If you're on this forum discussing it, chances are that you'll purchase it regardless of what I or anyone else has to say about it. And I hope you do, because I'd like you to experience what I did.

1 pointThis thread is for the version of BAT4Max which has been outdated for a few years now. The latest BAT4Max thread is stickied and has a link to the download, which includes the gmax stuff.

1 pointNot at this time, only because we'd rather release high-quality videos as opposed to videos shot from a screen. We'll have some gameplay videos soon, though. Yes, really! You keep saying soon! D: The wait is killing me Do you mean like, 1-2 weeks soon?

1 pointIf SimCity Reboot is a hit, you will get SimCity Reboot 2 the following year. If it is not, servers are gone within a year. Either way, EA doesn't want you to play games after their moneymaking potential has been exhausted.

1 pointAlternatively, we need to persuade people to find an independent video game developer to create a true successor to SC4. I know that independent developers would unlikely force players to use DRM. Good luck with that. Why cant we motivate people to do that. We have the members and we can fund it. I think you are severely underestimating how much it can cost to develop a video game, particularly if you want the graphics to be better than what we had in SC2000. Budgets for "triple-A games" nowadays are running into the $30 million range, easily, and it requires selling millions of units just to break even. -Tarkus

1 pointI thought it was 2012? I guess collective mental capacity of some parts of the world are still pretty far behind others. Girl faces execution because she burned some pages out of a book. They are very sensitive people let me tell you. It's because she's a Christian and a FEMALE. Primitive people are primitive.

1 pointAs Obi-wan says "Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view". From their point of view, their actions are logical and proper. and we are the uncivilized ones because we run around half-naked much of the time. That said, I find it reprehensible that anyone would put a child, much less a disabled child, to death.

1 pointI'm against burning ANY book. from books full of dirty jokes to religious tomes. burning any book is a blow against literacy Absolutely agree. I was merely trying to point out that while I find the incident in Pakaistan completely reprehensible, I find it almost amusing when one religion is quick to condem another, when there is rarely much distinction between the two on how they react to their own religion being attacked.
