I had missed the New Zealand update and a bit of Canada (home sweet home). But what better to do than to travel again with you on the 25th of December ? (I celebrate on the 24th, I've kept that European habit). Looking at your wonderful, stunning mosaics with a tall warm glass of Alka Seltzer, now that's the life ! Is there a corner of the Earth we haven't visited thanks to you ? Here's to a whole new year of Korver, wherever you wish to take us.

These seeming leftovers that didn't make the cut are all amazing!  The Doge himself would think he was looking at the real Venice.

@Ling Ziming and @nRVOUS:  I'm sure now that the Tokyo Skytree came from the 3D Warehouse of SKP format models for SketchUp, which might make uploading a release difficult.  However, that doesn't mean we cannot follow in mighty Korver's footsteps to similarly make our own personal use version from the same SketchUp model.  The free SketchUp Make with its limited-time trial of SketchUp Pro options can convert and export SKP format models to 3DS format for direct import into both 3ds Max and Gmax.  SketchUp can also export to OBJ format and a few 3D Warehouse models are specifically downloadable as Collada models in DAE format, both of which can be also directly imported into 3ds Max.  Post-trial versions of SketchUp Make will also still export DAE files.

Additionally, 3D Warehouse download options commonly listed as "Google Earth KMZ" are actually container files for Collada models in DAE format.  The KMZ file extension can just be changed to ZIP, allowing any ZIP utility to open the archive and extract the DAE format model and its textures for import into 3ds Max.  DAE files don't always cooperate for me when importing into 3ds Max as I do not know all the right options to select on Max's DAE import dialog box, however, this should allow a means to continue to use 3D Warehouse models even after the trial period SketchUp Make with full Pro version export options has expired or even without SketchUp installed at all.

There will still be much cleanup, scaling, and custom night-lighting to do, but Korver has shown the ultimate proof that the path works and that the results can be stupendous.

I was going to comment about how hard my jaw dropped after seeing the Venice mosaic. But my jaw didn't see that magnificent Downtown Chicago mosaic coming and well... maybe I have said that already, but this mosaic is your best one to date. Or maybe Venice is? I'm not sure...

Absolutely breathtaking!! That Venice pic is just stunning :ohyes:

I really like those custom street textures you used in the Sidney pics, the ones with bus lanes and such. Did you get them somewhere or you just made them for this update?

@RobertLM78 Thank you for the nice words! *:thumb:

@tariely Thanks for the comment and kind words *:)  There's still plenty of new places I want to explore in 2018, so stay tuned *;)

@Silur Thank you very much, glad you liked it! *:)

@The British Sausage Thanks for the comment! *:thumb:

@Ling Ziming Thanks for the comment! It's a custom model I got online, Odainsaker's post outlined it well *:)

@mike_oxlong  Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed Venice! *:)

@nRVOUS I didn't make it, so unfortunately I'd need authors permission first which can be very difficult to get.

@Krasner It took a while to render but the results were worth it * Thanks for the comment!

@bladeberkman Lots and lots and lots of rendering primarily *:P Thanks for the comment.

@Odainsaker Thanks for the comment! Yep, that's pretty much how I did it - it takes a little getting used to at first, (and as you mentioned, always make sure you scale it up 133%, I made that mistake on a few models at the beginning *:P) - but it can produce tremendous results once you get the hang of it!

@kaka2 Thank you for the nice words, glad you enjoyed it!

@TekindusT Thanks, glad you enjoyed them *:thumb: It's a tough decision, I probably couldn't decide either *:P

@Kingdom city Thanks for the comment *:) I believe its this one.

@SC4L0ver Thank you very much! The Sydney textures were all made by hand specifically for the update.

Really nice plazas @tariely, you can count on me using them almost everywhere, they match perfectly the style I'm using for the city.

But, once again you posted your progress on Korver's CJ, which is a bit weird... As I don't want to steal you more likes by posting this on the Show us thread with my account (I owe you nine already :O ), could you please post it there, or in a dev thread of yours? Thank you and keep up the fantastic lotting! :D
