Los Angeles keeps sprawling westward, on the only developable land, in between the North Vallejo Hills and the South Palisade Cascades.  The Central Business District has shifted with this growth as well, encompassing a couple major skyscrapers within the past year. An overhead view of the emerging Arena District, with the Greater Los Angeles Convention Center & Pac-Valley Park, where the LA Surfers play baseball.  There is a mix of high-tech business incubators, as well as condominiums, townhomes, and medium wealth commercial office & services relocating to this area. This corridor was recently converted to avenue with ground-light-rail runing down the center of the roadway.  Elevated highway once existed here, which was downgraded to avenue, before its current state, just as the Uptown District was emerging.  Also centered in this part of "midtown" LA is the Central Library, City Hall, City Courthouse, and the North Vallejo Valley Business District (to the right of the avenue)

A short circuit in one of the shops of Beautiville caused a fire burning down the whole commercial area. Unfortunately, there was no fire station at that time and there still isn't - no one in the village knew how to build one. Hence, a new school has been built to make Beautiivillians smarter: The first smart Beautivillian leaving school was James Onli. However, instead of building a fire station, he prefered going west and building a harbor to make money ,help his village and, well, make more money. With the money, Beautiville could develope pretty well. Shops were rebuilt, the farmland expanded, Also, a settlement called New Beautiville was erected southern to the Harbor:
  3. Views from Look Look is a busy town. It has a small industrial park providing jobs for the local residents. It is also partly a bedroom community with a small town centre filled with fancy resturants and cafe's. A rail station was built for travellers coming in and out of Look at sometime during this update. enjoy. feel free to comment

Since this is my first crack at both a CJ and regional play I am just going to go with the flow here and see what happens.  I am sure this region won't turn out the way I want, I am counting on the experience to help me later though.  I'll start right off the bat by saying I am using a few cheats.  I am doing this because there are concepts of regional play I am not wanting to tacking this go round'.  I am using the "fightthepower" and "howdryiam" cheats to not have to be worried about power and water sharing.  I am also giving myself a significantly large sum of starting money so I can set up the region the way I think BEFORE I actually start populating it. So here is the first screenshots of my elevated highway and bridge network connecting all the land masses.  The island in the centre, and its surrounding squares will be the CBD.  I plan on some farms, haven't figured out where to put those yet.
  4. So I have the first question! Where should I build my highway? I give you two pictures of two plans where to build! I need you to tell me what do you think would be the best for this town A or B? So here are the pictures? A                                                          Cost: 70 000 B                                                    Cost: 160 000 Money in the towns bank: 369 000

Just below the off-ramp lies the Government section which controls all of what goes on in Stonington

Somewhere in the midwest, there is the city of Rourke. With a population about 300,000, Rourke is nothing special. Infact it has been going backwards since the manufacturting industry it relies so heavy on began to faulter. Rourke's downtown is very small, with no skyline.  Here are some shots. More to come, possibly an overview!

Introduction to Multnomah Multnomah is the third biggest city within April County. The city itself has a realistic population of 210,000 citizens, and a metro area of about 490,000. Multnomah was originally started as a major seaport city in the late 1800's, but when the cities population began to rise and hit 100,000 sims the seaport got less and less attention as the boardwalk grew. Then one day in the late 60's the mayor decided to get rid of the last seaport. Now the City is probably the most urban of all of the cities currently in april beach, with a long boardwalk that stretches approximatly 3.2 miles. The city has thousands of flowerbeds and is a very green city. Life here is great, the city has a outstanding traffic system and poverty is low. ------------ Today I only have a few pictures for you, but when the next update comes I will have alot more of Multnomah. ---------- Here you can see the Highway system intwined within a field of flowers planted by the city in the 80's as a renewal project. You can also see the boardwalk and the apartments around it. Here is the city center, the town hall is in the very center of the boardwalk. The town square can also be seen here, and the buildings that line the boardwalk. You can also see some highrise apartment buildings. Here you can see the main street interchange, and the area surrounding it. In this photo you can see Middleton Park and North April University. Here is Multnomah International Airport, and the greenspace surrounding it. Thanks for reading, comments Welcomed. Edit: Sorry these are all night shots, I took these at night and forgot about daylight ones too.
  10. Welcome back! Onwards now, into the British Columbian interior, where we visit the town of Pine Valley. Lets have a look! Nestled deep in the Rocky Mountains, Pine Valley is a small town along the Yellowhead Highway (16), deep in the interior of British Columbia. Close to the center of the large Pine Valley, the town (who shares the name of the valley) certainly does not appear to be a "mountain town" from the angles we see, but make no mistake.. it's right in the center of the action. Largely fueled by the trains that rumble through, the town is a stop on the way of hunters, campers and some adventurous skiers looking for more adventure than you find the more popular areas of the Rockies. This has in turn allowed the town to gain a niche of its own, building a resort near Pine Lake, further up the slopes of Mount Shunda. In recent years, development has picked up as the town gains recognition as a quiet, relatively undisturbed summer vacation locale. With the increase in vacationers, Via Rail has expanded its train services to reach into the town, branching off a line west of Jasper. Although the line is currently operating with a deficit, Via Rail executives have confidence that it will be pulling in a profit by the end of the next decade. Much of the development away from the main road has been completed within the past 10 years, during which time the town exploded from a population of 450 to over 1200. Most of the homes are used as summer cabins, but it is estimated that there is a year round population of somewhere around 670, with that number growing each year. The town is also on the front lines in the war with the pine beetle, as you may have noticed the number of dead trees around the town. The destructive beetle has been working its way across the province, leaving a huge swath of dead trees in its wake. It is expected to jump the border into Alberta within the next year or two. And that's all for now, folks! Be sure to check back next time, when we'll explore Canada's north!

Ahh... spring is in the air!  Welcome to Vlachovice, a rural Czech immigrant community, located in a beautiful corner of the Fitch Country, located well to the southwest of New Albany.  In many ways, the Fitch Country area will be inspired in part by the Texas Hill Country: Isn't this scene gorgeous?  I know there's flowers in the highway; they have just been growing like crazy lately! Now we see a highway junction with a gas station amongst the impressive wildflower display that Nature blessed the Fitch Country with. We will see more of Vlachovice (and New Albany!) sometime later.  Until then, travel safe!
  11. Harbour View

Zelgadis ~ things did start out very rural, but the development soon started to spread selles ~ Thanks, I like how the rivers have turned out. I'm glad you like where this is going - I might as well if I knew buildsolid ~ I have a feeling there might be some more things you're going to like coming up Ok, A quick revisit and on with the tour This is where we have been - although some of those tall buildings have changed Again an old view, but with some changes - the highway has a nice new tarmac finish & the river has had a "diggis" makeover ~ what do you think? Also be careful not to give to many building contracts to the same company A little further up the river Esselte we see the new commercial developments. You can also see the old railway showing up under the river bed We now have a few images of the roads passing each other - this was a bit of a challenge to make things fit nicely That's your lot for today Dave edit - sorry are this images to big? what's the limit please

  13. Dalton Valley is the most populated district in Rockford and home to more than 260,000.  Here we see the sprawl of Dalton Valley.  The Sears Tower can be fully seen as well as the many residential high rises in the area.  This is the fastest growing district and boasts booming commerce and competitive housing markets.

    Dalton Regional Airport.

Just an exapmle of the crowded, urban living conditions in the district.

The building in the center (L - Shaped) is Dalton Medical Centre, the largest hospital in the metropolitian area.

From high above the clouds, this is Dalton Valley.

Anyway I have just downloaded (ok not "just", but 1 week ago) the January version of NAM and the RHW - why is it called rural highway? It obviously hasn't the "rural" feel in it . I have built a rail network in Shin Shao and I will make a transit map soon - when I have time. One thing I found out about NAM is that the FAR puzzle peaces can be EXTREMELY useful! Shin Shao is getting bigger and bigger. I don't know the exact number of population, but it is around 30.000. Not many, huh? My goal is about 100.000 - 150.000 residents. To achieve such a number the mayor has authorised construction of many new apartment buildings to the north, northwest and northeast. While the south bank of the river running throught Shin Shao still remains unpopulated, there are speculations that the Mayor has plans to populate this place with low to midrise buildings. Some even say that he wants to build a golf course, which will undefinitely boost his rating with the rich sims. Here are some aerial photographs of the northern part of Shin Shao, where the mayor plans new residential development: Another angle: And to finish this update: two pictures; one taken at night, and one taken at sunset: Thats it! If you liked it, please leave a comment! Any criticism is welcome! Thanks! -Dejavu

If you do go, be aware..  Tell me what you think about my CJ so far. What can I do better?  Suggestions are pleased.

  18. OK so there is my region view pic with Route 10 and the Rail line as per the first request...  I made my choice for this route based on the ease of connection from A - M as per the the rules where we had to go threw 6 tiles.. Well there you have it 6 tiles and a bonus it includes E B H!!! I know I haven't done any trees yet but they will come here soon so don't worry I will forest the area... Now on to the second portion here is a zoom 1 pic of E aka Edwardston... This is the first actual time I planned a route out at all and here is a MS Paint job of it... I did use the original region view without any names for this plan... Since I don't have a scanner I figured that this would be the next best way for me to draw up my plans... OK so here is the deal the black line is the Rail and the grey line is the Road plan... I made this choice for the ease of this route as DOT says something along the lines the quickest way from point A - M is a turn or two lol...
