  1. The metropolis of Marvarta

It's not incrededibly realistic, but I don't think that's what you're going for. The sprawl is impressive and the city seems very functioning - a good thing many CJs feature entirely "modelled" cities that look nice but have no real life. Matarva is a nice, dense city and I enjoyed the pictures so far and the teaser looks interesting.
  2. *Central Tile 100% Urbanized

Wow! I also used Sault Ste Marie for a natural growth region a while back. I love how youve used  custom content in a normally maxis-prone concept, it looks really good. Great work.
  3. I have no problem with cheats or building plopping, mostly because I like to play for realism. Most of my commerical and industrial buildings are plopped, my road layouts are mostly eye-candy and I do not worry about traffic or population. Rarely do I grow anything. But I also get a kick out of removing most of my non-essential plugins and leaving things like NAM, RHW, SAM (basically most of the NAM addons) with maybe three or four other things that do not cheat gameplay. I do this when I feel like playing the "natural growth" style that started here at Simtropolis.
  4. MAPS... San Pedro and Mesias

Nice work! This is a great CJ.
  5. The future of Simcity 4

It is unlikely that a game called "Simcity 5" as a direct successor to Simcity 4 will ever come out. Not in the way we would like it to. Maybe a game like Simctiy will come out, and our best hope is that it will be as open-ended and customizable as Simcity 4. Imagine Cities XL but with the custom options like BAT and LE that Simcity 4 has.
  6. Introduction

Nice work so far! I like the trams.
  7. The way I play has changed drastically. When I first started playing the game, I was not aware of plugins, or simtropolis etc. So I 'played' cities naturally, with the never ending intetion of getting a huge city filled with skyscrapers. I rarely built a region, rather just building out one city tile and then moving on. Then after I discovered plugins, I cheated alot with mods etc. I built massive regions of skyscraper forests for some reason and it interested me. Then slowly, my skills improved and I got more and more plugins and built realisitc cities. I stopped caring about functioning cities and started building model cities - plopped buildings, etc. It eventually got to the point where every lot was plopped and nothing was grown. Recently, I discovered CGS Natural Growth MD at sc4devotion and moved out all my plugins and returned to basics. I've been playing cities naturally as they would grow in real life - based on CGS's ideas on gameplay. It's the most interesting experience I've had with simcity 4 so far.
  8. If you zone for residential in the areas you plan on plopping, let anything grow there. Then plop the residentials over the top of the zoned buildings, and it shouldn't abandon.
  9. Residential Row Houses

Nice work! The one problem I have is the roof's incroguance with the next's building roof (see the gap). The texture could be less extreme I think, too. But great work, I'll download them.
  10. I wasn't sure whether to put this in the lot editor section or here. I keep hearing about RaphaelNinj'as tutorial on making your own prop groups but I can't find it. Does anyone know how to do this, or where to find the original tutorial? Thanks!
  11. Update IX - Censing the Journalist

Wow! This is now one of my favourite CJ's at the moment, and there's only been one picture with ANY buildings in it! :P I love how you showed exactly how you made the region in every step, and the entire idea of a steampunk CJ is great. I can't wait to see how you do it.
  12. Stop Maxis Mansions from growing

Judas, you can the SC4 Startup Manager which allows you to pick which regions plugins are used in.

This is a mod that stops low density Maxis R$$$ (the huge, sprawling mansions) from growing in your game. But the higher density R$$$ condos and apartments still grow, as well as 2 of the smaller 2X2 high wealth homes that blend in better. INSTALLATION: Simply unzip and place the DAT file in your documents/SimCity 4/plugins folder. No dependencies. CREDIT GOES TO ANDREAS ROTH FOR THIS TUTORIAL: If you are comfortable with using Ilive's reader to mod, you can make a similar effect to any degree you want if you are unhappy with any of the things this mod allows you to grow. Simply take any existing block-all-R$$$ mod, highlight any of the exemplars which represent the buildings you still want to grow, delete those exemplars and save as a new DAT.
  14. Thanks andreas, works great. I had tried to make all mansions begone from my game with Reader, but I only knew the basic controls. I didn't think of editing the existing mod. Should I release the DAT I made or just make a tutorial or something? Cause I know lots of players hate the mansions.
  15. Is there a mod or method to stop low density R$$$ (the mansions) from growing in my game? I have the block all maxis R$$$ but I want the medium and high density R$$$ to show up, just not the mansions. Is there a way to do this? thanks!
