I am looking for ways to "protect" rail tracks. My original thoughts are to use security fence, but those I found have dirt tracks/carparks attached, or they do not have diagonal lots. Then I looked at highway walls but they seem too thick and obstructing as a track protection. Any suggestions are welcomed :thumb:

In the JENX Rental Car park, security fence lots are provided with no base texture. Though I recommend adding some HD trees or anything you want, rocks etc in the LE.

Here's the link:

https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3013

Thanks! Like you mentioned the lots are really transparent but they seem useful for now. Never thought you would find fences in rental car park lots

Hi all,

I'm looking to start a Mediterranean themed build.

Does anyone know where to find the "Roma" sets (author unknown),  I saw them months ago, now I cant find them.

I have most, if not all of Mickebears lots, but am looking for any and all Mediterranean style LOTS/BATS.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

I tried google prior to this posting.

Best,

H.

Have you downloaded the massive prop pack by simcity4ever88 - https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28443-the-italian-collection/

You'd need to create lots with this props but there's massive variety. I haven't had the chance to use these myself though.

Some additional Med-inspired stuff here - https://community.simtropolis.com/profile/325895-lordlucifer/content/?type=downloads_file

Are these the Roma buildings you were looking for - https://community.simtropolis.com/profile/77907-psycholu/content/?type=downloads_file

Actually, I've noticed that Divshare file for the Italian set is no longer working. Does someone else have the folder and could re-upload to a sharing site? Would this even be allowed? Seeing as the creator was happy to share his work could it be re-uploaded?

Belfastsocrates,

Hey thanks so much, you pointed some great stuff I'd missed, definitely gonna use all of these.

And yes those were the Italian Collection files I was seeking, (which I  was calling Roma) what a shame the DL link is broke.

If anyone out there has these files, contact Dirk so we can all have access to these great looking BATS/LOTS.

Thanks again.

Best,

H.

Yo, guys --

I've managed to find enough prop stuff on coal to be able to create lots for coal yards -- although a nice 1x1 coal pile would still be welcome.  I did not have much luck with the idea of making a bump in the terrain and painting it with "MMP" coal.  It will work for large piles, but doesn't do well for small areas and may be inappropriate for smaller industries that don't use that much coal.

Anyway --

I'm still looking for prop "piles of stuff" --- gravel, sand, dirt, grain, iron ore, etc, etc.

I'm also looking for a "dirt" texture I can either "paint" on the terrain similar to MMP trees, or make "plop lots" with.  I've got those great Somy excavators, but haven't figured out how to create a huge open pit mine for them.

Any ideas??

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

For "plies of stuff" check out BSC Mega Prop Pack jeronij Vol02 (v1.0)

For dirt textures, try heblem's ploppable sand/dirt in HBS Tropical Flora Pack (Mayor Mode) 1

I would also get FrankU's addon to the above set to allow smaller brush sizes.

I'm pretty sure those haven't been released yet. In fact, I remember reading that they will be rebatted to fix the height (which does not match the others buildings')

Ah yes. I'm not quite finished with those yet. As somebody said, I need to scale them up on the Z axis and I'm not quite finished with interior and exterior clutter. In addition to that, I'm getting errors whenever I try to export anything from 3DSmax. Because of this I can't give any definitive release date.

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a mod to create a desert landscape that replaces the grass in game?

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a mod to create a desert landscape that replaces the grass in game?

I think this is what you need (unless you want to do a pure sand desert, Sahara-like):

With its respective flora mods:

Good luck!

Yo, guys --

This may be off-topic a bit -- but I've got a quick question for you --

I've been getting some feedback in my CJ about the railroads.

Most folks don't like using the rail overpass puzzle pieces from Nam32.  They suggest either putting the road on the overpass, or digging an underpass for the road to go beneath the rail.

I wouldn't mind getting your opinions (and reasoning) on the proper (accepted) theoretical approach to the over/under question ...

But -- Is there a tutorial somewhere that tells me how to use the Nam32  road / rail / digger / tunnel  pieces to create crossings?

I have to be careful with Nam32 or I get a CTD.  Perhaps using the digger pieces to lower the road, then run a rail bridge over it? (Kinda hand-crafting an underpass?)

AND -- my ground level is very low to facilitate seaport and marina placement.

SUGGESTIONS ??

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

As a general rule, is more realistic to keep rails leveled and to raise or sunk roads when there are crossings (and they have relevant traffic in both networks). That's because trains have much more problems when changing slopes than cars (because of the material of the wheels, and the weight of the vehicle). The same reason justify to use a more conservative slope mod for rail lines than roads, even highways.
