Can someone tell me if there are some plopable pools on the STEX or LEX? I've looked some and can't find any.

Try Simgoober's Public Pool Pack for a few.

I've been using Swimming and cooking park 1 it's a smaller pool park that I find fits nicely into more dense neighbourhoods.

Yo, guys --

Has anyone ever seen a lot containing railroad LNG tank cars -- or, failing that --  a prop pack with the cars so I can make my own??

Failing either of those alternatives, any suggestions on what could be substituted?

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

One more time --

In all my wanderings looking for stuff -- did I see a Mod somewhere that would remove jagged edges??

I'm plopping some really great breakwaters offshore and they look like they have saw teeth for foundations.

Diagonals jagged edges at least; https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1690

But if you have a terrain mod that is fairly recent, that function is already implemented - at least the Appalachian does

3.option; in this tutorial, section 2. MaxNormalYForCliff. explains how to fix such issues yourself

Anyone know whre to find this?

Yo, "Tomate" -- (name's too long -- took a shortcut :D )

The industrial strength excavator is from SOMY -- if you backtrack this thread to my request for it, you'll find the link.  There are two of them -- the big one on the front end is the excavator, and the smaller one behind it is the conveyor that carries away the dirt, ore, etc.  They're great!

Looks to me like the open pit mine was sculpted using a terrain tool, then covered in an MMP soil texture.  Very creative idea.

Good luck --

Just out of curiosity --

Does anyone know, for sure, how the open pit was created?

And where can I find the soil textures they used?

I have Somy's excavator in my plugins.  Might as well use it -- right? (lol)

Yo, SimCoug --

Thanks much, guy.  And I appreciate your prompt response.

I was looking for something a bit more 20th Century, but this one might just do the trick.  Dredge boats lounging around harbors are rarely "state-of-the-art" -- plus -- this one would be suitable for work in rivers.

Thanx, again --

Yo, gviper --

I tend to agree with Yarahi.  It does look somewhat like NBVC's Modular Marina Series --

But it appears to be a "new and improved" version.  There is more detail on the two-master in the foreground and it appears to be a "ploppable" version.  The large cabin cruiser is something new to me.  The boat guays also appear to have cleaner lines and a bit more detail.

It may be from the second and third addon sets that were designed for "diagonal" and "round" appearances.

If you find out anything -- let me know.  In the meantime -- I'll check my NBVC stuff and let you know for sure about that.

Well --

The stuff in the picture is NOT in any of the three NBVC Marinas that I have.

Your picture has more attention to details on the quays and boats.  NBVC's stuff is rather spartan when it comes to detail.  This stuff looks much better -- even in a small picture!

YO -- !

Can anybody shed some light on where to find this Marina set ??

Guys they're custom lots by Ol.S / Benoit, as seen here and made long before the release of NBVC marina's btw. If interested you can download the lots here, though note the dependency list is very broad and not linked, i.e. you'll need to hunt them down yourself. Also note the lots are not just the marina but are generally 2/3 tiles deep and also include the buildings and walkways. So if you want a typical French marina they're right up your alley. However, if you just want the seawall & pier combo you'll need to do some re-lotting.

Thanx a lot, guy --

I had tracked some of the stuff as far as Callagrafx -- but was beginning to lose hope.

The dependencies may be hard to find -- but that's frequently the case unless you get stuff from SC4DEV.

The re-lotting won't be a major problem -- just a lot of work.  I'm really only interested in the boats and quays.  They will fit nicely into a North Sea environment I'm working on.

NEW QUESTION:

I am hoping that there will be a few stand-alone boats included amongst all those props.  I have a tutorial for making floating lots (boats) -- but the boat prop must begin as a "building file".  Is there a tutorial for turning a prop into a building?

Thanks, again --

I really can't say for sure what is in this set or how it is presented (building, but props are more likely). I am guessing that most of the boats are "baked into" the docks as one model, but there might individual ones included.

If the models are props, its pretty straightforward as you just need to place them on your custom lot. If they are buildings, it is a little more complicated, but very achievable. There are numerous methods to convert buildings props, but the one detailed here is probably the easiest.

P.S. if you haven't been through OI.S/ Benoit's CJ, do it; its simply amazing...

Yo, nos.17 --

My guess is that the vast majority of the boats have been "baked into" the lots in the same fashion as the PEG boats/lots.  I rather like to take a few boats and plop them down along rivers and shorelines in the random odd spots -- adds a lot to the realism for me.  I "don't get" the logic behind the idea that EVERY boat on the map will be docked at a Marina.  There's always one guy that likes to anchor beside a bridge, or off a beach -- there's the realism.  And you can only get that random realism with a "stand-alone" boat lot.

I've never done a custom lot that included water and boats -- (though I'm tempted to see what I can come up with).  I've been fooling around with traffic-enabled rail sidings and finding out that I can do more with EDITOR than I have so far.  And I may try something with docks and marinas -- eventually.  I'm reasonably certain I can modify the Benoit lots to come up with a satisfying North Sea marina.  But that random boat sitting in a little cove is an obsession of mine.

I can, more or less convert buildings to props.  But I need to be able to take a boat prop and convert it to a building so my boat-making tutorial will work.  Right now, my boat prop lots simply sink to the bottom.  So I need to go prop to building.

Any suggestions -- ??

And -- yes -- I will dig into the Benoit files pretty soon.  My curiosity is building.  I just hope he did some "stand-alone" boats.

Ta --

Maybe it helps to clear up the terminology here. Technically a building and a prop are two different types of exemplar files (aka . desc file). However, both can be made from a model (aka BAT, aka .SC4Model ). So what you want is to go from model to building exemplar, which is then in turn used to create the lot file.

If you follow the steps outlined in Nos17's link, you'll still end up with a prop exemplar. However, using the SC4PIM the process is nearly identical if you want a building exemplar. Instead of dragging the model to the prop category, you simple drag the model to a suitable buildings category, which is one step above in Nos' picture. Alternatively you can see an example of model to building here, though in this example it's used to make a growable lot.
