HOLY CANOLI! You got the Flatiron (original name: Fuller) Building PERFECTLY!

One of my favorite buildings in New York. Across 23rd Street stand not one but two fine castiron lampposts. There used to be four, but one was taken out by a truck. One other is protect by being on a large island with an out cafe, and the third is next to a subway entrance...the entrance would go down first. I don't know what happened to the fourth.

And a pun.

Is there any chance you would be able to release this in SD as well? I use a lot of the North American BATs from the likes of Aaron, Jason, Nofunk, IDS etc and they all export in SD. Unfortunately HD alongside these buildings look funny at the usual Z5 setting :) Thanks :)

@mitsos the 'new' walls look fantastic. i have used those before but the way you have made the wall look like it grows from the cliffside itself is really impressive, i want to try that! Did you have to make custom lots for those sections?

Thanks missVanleider, no you don't have to lot them, i can't anyway, otherwise i would make many things differently without all these limitations. It is a bit tricky though to make it look as a unified structure. Definitely is time consuming but the result is good.

Progress on the Old City Times Building, but the texture combinations are not quite like I'd hoped ....plenty of work to do and loose ends to figure out.  Maybe a Green Roof to fill in the space outside the rooftop bar?

I'd be happy to share these once I tidy up the edges a bit, assuming such I thing is allowed - I assume it is given the creators using other's work and listing it as a dependency, but never really looked into it.

Don't worry so much about if they exist already. They do, but we all look for variety in our builds so upload 'em. Peg and SNM have both released sets in the past (2009-ish i think).

And yeah, standard practice is to list the other creator's works as dependencies if you have used things from their uploads.

Stunning work everyone.

I like fences and fillers and stuff. In search of a bit more variety in this area and in order to reduce my reliance on the excellent IRM fillers and associated extensions, I thought I'd have another look around to see what was out there. I couldn't find a set of lots using the PEG security fences props, at least not one available for download so I thought I'd have a go at lotting a basic set.

I found orthagonal and diagonal fences, with a barb wire and non-barb wire version of each. The image for the PEG fence props shows curved ones too, but owing to ignorance and a lack of persistence, I couldn't find such props in the LE menu.

I used what I assumed to be maxis textures for the grass and concrete, which i've got matching my sidewalk and terrain. I don't really understand how to use the base and overlay textures required for the diagonal half and half fence to get the concrete to match the main concrete texture (I almost found it was sheer luck to even find a diagonal half concrete texture at all), so this is obviously not perfect, but given how quick this was to do, I think the result is acceptable.

I did all the editing using the old SC4 lot editor, because I know how to use that program much more than the more advanced releases. I basically copied one of the lots from the IRM walls / filler set in order that these fences would appear at the same part of my landmark menu. The one problem is that whilst the menu shows the correct image, they all display the original file name. In order to make this set easier to plop, I'm going to look at using one of the other programs to change the name in the menu so it doesn't become so confusing. - Edit After a bit of research, I've found that this is difficult because I've essentially copied an existing lot, instead I will have to create new lots so they show the menu name and description that i want them to show.

Just to show a quick example of all the pieces used together. It does sadly demonstrate the limitation of the diagonal concrete overlay I used :)

If anyone is aware of a set that exists publicly for download like this, please let me know a link, because they will no doubt be superior to my versions, if no such link exists I'd be happy to share these once I tidy up the edges a bit, assuming such I thing is allowed - I assume it is given the creators using other's work and listing it as a dependency, but never really looked into it.

I have released a set of textures just for such an occasion. It comes with a diagonal concrete overlay texture, derived from the Maxis concrete texture you showed off. The texture you need has the ID 0xF85D42A0.

As for the somehow missing props, an important info: Every prop, flora, and building has a so-called footprint (the blue/grey/green box) with a certain size. If the size of this footprint is larger than the lot (it's sufficient if one side is longer), LE can't find this prop anymore and doesn't list it. To get around that, temporarily increase the size of your lot and then try searching again in the prop list. After editing your lot, you can then safely reduce your lot's size to the value you want (at least this works for props and flora, if a building is larger than the lot and overhangs, LE refuses to save the lot).

But keep up the good work, such a set may be very useful to people out there.

It was a productive day, working on the monuments on the hill and surroundings. Also i thought that was a good idea to add night lights. Still working on them.

Wow! This image has single-handedly made me rethink using the "DarkNite" mod. @mitsos What lighting mods or techniques do you use (if any), to get those richly colored lights?

My huge thanks to SM2 - without this guy there would be nothing !!!  And thanks Krasner too...

Looks like a train repair yard, and a good one. I hope that truck clears the tracks before a train shows up. *:D
