Thanx for the tip.

I downloaded the Mod for future reference -- but I try to avoid Mod's as a general rule -- though you never know when I'll forget a bunch of stuff.  "Use it or lose it !"

I do appreciate your assistance and the link.  *:thumb:

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

These tools only show up in God mode, and most of them aren't accessible anymore by default after founding a city.

There's a cheat to get access to God-mode tools, however. Just left-click on the God-mode icon while simultaneously pressing CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT, and all God-mode tool should be temporarily unlocked until you go to Mayor mode next time. You can repeat it.

THANK YOU Sooooooo VERY MUCH !!!  *:thumb:  *:thumb:  *:thumb:

That's the tricky little bit I couldn't remember !!

TOWN OF VOLUS

What's going on at the formerly quiet village of Sandy Creek? Why does it seem bigger, and noisier?

This neat facility extracts river sediments, which in this area consist of sand and gravel. It's sorted by particle size and distributed, either by truck or rail, depending on the customers' needs.

Yo, guy --

That gravel facility is a real gem -- especially the rail car loading hopper.

Is that your own lot, or did you find that somewhere ??

I'd love to have  that -- my region needs a large sand and gravel works.

I really hope, that you have constant back-ups of the back-ups of the back-ups of these models. And of course I can't wait to see them in game. :)

The gravel terminal and the accessory gravel heaps around it were made by Simmer2. If you're into neat industrial, utility and railway facilities, you'll enjoy an immense proportion of his published content!

@gutterclub , Thanks for the recommendations, I always have a problem with my rooftop textures and trees, if anyone knows a good place where I can get decent, clean and also dirty rooftop textures to give it more realism I would appreciate it.

It's quite hard to just find roof textures, you will usually have to make them in photoshop.

Jason and Todd have both written guides for it before somewhere in the depths. Essentially, you need to start with a base layer and build up layers of dirt etc in photoshop. Add dark edges etc. I can you some roof textures you might want to start with for this..also add a tiny bit of reflectivity to the roof, 0.05 or lower, add the usual ambient occlusion.

@Diego Del Llano that's awesome! Great job! When I finish the Singer Building I'll make sure to add your One Liberty Plaza on it's place, demolish it and plop the Singer again. Historical revenge *

Hahaha funny , I did not know that information, that the singer building was in the same place as One Libery Plaza. That's interesting.

Yo, guys --

HELP !

I'm knee-deep in my city and decided I need a rail connection to another city.

UNFORTUNATELY -- there is a terrain height adjustment required to lay the rails.  I went into terraform on the Mayor Mode to pull up the tools -- but when I select any of the raise/lower/level buttons -- none of the good stuff comes up!

I'm supposed to see a selection of different tools that offer shallow valleys, mountains, smoothing, etc, etc -- right?

It's been about 5 years since I created a new map tile from scratch and I think I forgot how to access those tools.

Any ideas how to refresh my rickety memory ??

You, mean the Smooth road, rail slope mod ?

Sincerely yours,

Kschmidt

THANX , Kschmidt --

But what I FORGOT was which keystroke to use to get into the specialist "God Mode" terraforming tools.  The older I get -- the more I forget !!  (That's what happens to you when you take a 3-year break from the game -- you forget ALL the basic stuff and have to re-learn how to play !!!)

BTW -- Can anyone tell me how to drain the water to work on the sea floor and install those pesky seawalls ??

You mean the Setsealevel cheat?

Also found this on SC4D

Quote

Even better: for terraforming purposes, change your WaterDepthForMaxAlpha to 250 and WaterMinAlpha to 0x00; this will make your water completely transparent instead of removing it, so you'll still be able to see your actual waterline.

@Yarahi

Yo --

I'm not sure if it is "Setsealevel" --

I used to use something that simply removed all the water (as well as the bridges) and allowed me to smooth the coastlines, make sure my whales had deep water, and permitted me to plop seawalls that can't be plopped on water.

Is that the one -- ??

@Dreadnought The full process is like so:

- Open city
- Open Cheat window (Ctrl + C)
- type in setsealevel 0 respecting the space between word and the number.
- Water is gone and the terrain is free to build whatever you want to. (Just make sure that you don't do this in a "fullgrown" city, it will destroy harbours, bridges etc. You will have to rebuild them once the water level is back)
- Save city when done and exit
- Re-enter city and voila....the water is back with all the shoreline and seafloor changes you have done. Save again.

The DBE (Diagonal Bridge Enabler) from NAM also removes water from the city when in Plugins-folder I believe

Yes,

But this is some kind of ploppable/mmp type water or something like that.

The setsealevel cheat however works on the in-game water that comes with the maps.
