amazing... but may be it would be better without these columns. Just a personal thought.

Yes You are right mitsos, I forgot to replace them with new sets, Anyway, I plan to make them as independent props after whole works done, Just In case anyone has better idea to use them with LE. Thank you for your advice.

Well that would be actually really-really useful! :) I miss these small plaza/street/park decorations. Also the statue looks awesome!

Raymond7cn to be honest with you i would prefer to make this as simple as it gets. No need to replace them at all. and i 'll explain why.  It is a matter of size. Look how small the cars are compared to them. These columns and wires are used by the museums to protect the exhibits. In this case there isn't such a need. Let them shine to our cities. Imagine it without the wires.......  classical beauty. Btw I must say that you and the other BATers keep this game alive with your stunning creations, and we are  grateful for that.

Sorry, but they're too big for me. A bus easily drives under the pillars with the ropes and the monument is easily larger than a block.
I know the problem, the "normal" the size, the less you can see from the great figures. The "art" is to make them look good anyway.

Though I luuuuuv the statues --  *:thumb:

I'm afraid I must agree with some of the members.

If this model in the picture were half that size, it would be a big statue......  *

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Thank you very much my friends, That's why I post them here, I do need your advices since I'm lack of experience, And I appreciate your tips and encouragements.

I never been to Louvre, and these statues actually stand in the museum like this below:

IqFJire.jpg

So at the very beginning, I have no idea how to put them outside, and also those models, some of them are incomplete or have some holes itself. Then I saw this picture:

KJTxTVo.jpg

Then I thought I could largen the size then bring them outside with foundations and mending the incomplete parts.

But now, I kind of got that I need to make them more smaller just with simple foundations, May I have your tips, How big they are is more appropriate as your opinions? and also how to deal with the lights, Do we need the lamps on the groud? Anyways, It seems like the columns and wires are totally unnecessary. I hope you can give me more advices to accomplish them. Thank you very much, I look forward your precious tips.:}

Sincerely,

-- Raymond

BTW, Just a sudden thought. I thought I could make a 1x1 set of them, and make a big set as 2x3 or 3x3 of them in case someone want to enjoy more details of these arts, Is that OK? *:D

The statue is beautiful. To get a better sense of scale, you may want to consider the height of a Sim in the game, then adjust accordingly, so that it better matches the pictures.

In the pictures above, I believe the statue outside is much larger than the ones inside. Maybe compare this to the largest Mayor Statue in-game, and then adjust as you feel necessary.

Thanks a million xxdita, You just really helped me out. Can you give more tips about the exact value of Maxis Mayor Statue's height, or teach me the method of how to find out it from game. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

I really have no idea how to do it in GMAX or BAT, but since you have the one statue already rendered, you can use it in-game for a visual test.

In Lot Editor first, place a Sim (or a few) on the lot around your statue. This should help you figure out a proper proportion.

While you're there, place the Mayor Statue next to your lot, so you can get a feel for the right dimensions for your next one. You may also want to keep in mind how you want the lot to look around the statue. If you want it to be in a park environment, you may want the statue to be a bit smaller than if it's a standalone statue.

Others will probably come along with much better advice, or maybe some proper math, but this is what I can think of right now.

Thanks xxdita, I will rescale them according to the medium one. Look forward more of your precious tips.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would love to have that exact size statue. It would be great as the focal point of a park lot.

But for realism, it probably shouldn't be much taller than 2x the height of the Sims on the lot.

It's too small and unimposing for the lair of super-spy Vandamme. Should be a 3x4 like your Falling Water. But I guess beggars can't be choosers. BTW, Falling Rock will be getting a special showing in my "This is War! Directory" soon. Stay tuned.

How did you manage to get sidewalks on the OWR-5 on both sides? usually if placed next to a road, only the side with buildings would get a sidewalk

Woah really awesome set up there.

Is the OWR a lot for that whole stretch? I tried to do this with the old Marrast  M-TEL lots, but they seem to be much shorter.

I think that is a special custom onslope wall piece, where the top part have road/OWR overlay textures. I don't think, it's fully functional, but it's an impressive set-up forsure.

I guess comments like that are why the BAT request thread is largely ignored by batters. *;)

* The dimensions of the fallingwater model are 45m wide by 23m deep.

* The dimensions of the Vandamm House model are 36m wide by 43m deep.

The Vandamm house is therefore larger.

It is a house after all, not an aircraft hangar and it is in scale with the movie stills and the actual sketches by the set designers (which I included in the upload: if you look closely at Robert Boyles sketches you can see a human is drawn to scale in the elevation).

This house is very large by 1950's standards.

It's called constructive criticism, not an insult. The building is a beauty, but it just seems small. Remember, Vandamme also had his own air runway and lived in close proximity to Mount Rushmore, so the house should stand out among those large fixtures. This building is not meant to be plopped 50 times in some city. So keeping it to scale of common houses is not necessary. BTW, I live in a city where many houses are as big as aircraft hangers, and a few as big as aircraft carriers.

I miss getting stuff before anybody else. >.<

I kinda hate coming to this thread without something of my own to show off. But most of what I do is behind the scenes.

Like this minor fix of spa's Vogue Building, Halifax, as well as his St Paul's Buildingon the LEX to address a MAC compatibility issue.

See, I do stuff *:D

* The character you have referred to on a number of occasions is Phillip Vandamm, not Vandamme.

* Constructive criticism is widely acknowledged as "the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others"; yours was merely an opinion, offering neither valid nor well-reasoned points; all of which were factually incorrect. I merely corrected you about the dimensions. Even if you had actually offered constructive criticism which had been factual, it does not logically follow that your opinion/constructive criticism is the end of the discussion.

Vandamm House is the scale that is, not because of other houses near you, or near me, but because the actual house, as imagined by the set designers, is not excessively large.

If you're going to make it the way it was made for the movie, shouldn't it only have 2 walls and a bunch of film cameras and lighting behind it? *:D
