Shaking the dust a little bit, and motivated by a post that I saw here a few days ago and my wish of having more Mexican/LatAm stuff decided to retake this project I started last December and put on pause due to the semester. It is a Pemex gas station, it was already brought into the game a long time ago by LBT but as it is doubtful that such a team will return, I decided to make my own version rendered in HD, among other stuff I also want to bring into the game. Most likely I will only focus on this brand as others have already been released recently and this one was missing. What do you think?

They still have like 60% of the Mexico market and that looks great! They actually have locations in the Houston area now too.

Yo, guys --

Still working on the Cuxhaven / Bremerhaven harbor maps......

I have been working on what I call the "busy harbor" theory.  I tend to make large harbors with lots of open water -- which I consider necessary to allow plenty of room for "ship handling".  Especially in shallow water, big ships tend to maneuver only with great difficulty -- hence we always use tugboats with them.  But even a tugboat needs enough room to shove the big ships around.  Then I started thinking about it -- all that open space -- and realized that working harbors are really quite crowded.  Ships and boats and barges are everywhere, going about their business.

Sooooo -- now I'm going back and filling in the spaces with lots of "busy" detail.  Here is an overview of the rest of the coal receiving quay with barges unloading, tugs and lighters waiting to unload -- full coal lighters stacking up against the breakwater, with tugs minding some and others being shoved into place to wait their turn.  Over on the left a paddle tug is hooking up a triple-tow to get some of the "empties" out of the way.  And I'm going to add another large tow coming in.  Filling in the "busy" detail is  actually taking longer than it did to lay out the coaling quay!

And here is a close-up so you can see all the details on the tug and lighter models by  @AP.  The tugs, lighters, mooring dolphins, and small boats are all his !!

Look closely for the small details on the quay as well......

The Devil is always in the detail !!

Any of those boats available ? Know the house boat and some canal barches !

Sincerely yours,

Kschmidt

@kschmidt

They are not yet availble -- but I hope they will be some time this year.

@AP suggested we release his prop packs in conjunction with new chapters of the CJ -- and I agreed heartily.

Soooo -- they will definitely be available -- soon -- I hope.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Alright I've started working on my next BAT just getting the setup done in advance before I take a small break.

I need you guys' opinion. (actual opinions, not likes...) Do you think the tower are fine as they're ? Too thin?

The footprint is 3x3. Everything is modeled to IRL proportions except the height as stated in the picture. (Harbour Village, Rotterdam)

(The base is a placeholder and will not look like this massive 5 stories slab at all.)

Looks nice!

Seems quite fine! The floorplates and floor to height ratio look fairly typical for a modern residential highrise.

They do give the impression of being thin. I'm guessing it's either because they actually are somewhat thin towers, or possibly because your floor heights are maybe a little tall (basically without any other visual context, our brains are assuming that the floor heights are shorter than they are, which at the same time would mean that the towers are thinner than they are).

To get an accurate floor height for the towers, you can go into street view and count the bricks. You'd have to figure out how tall bricks are in the Netherlands though.

I've seen thinner towers in many places, but according to your numbers, the scaling factor in use is 1.65:1, which is significantly more than the typical 1.33:1. Maybe trying with that could give you a more comfortable middle point.
