Some time back, I was experimenting around with low hills and small mountains (I eventually settled on low hills) and spent a couple of weeks making and remaking the scene until I finally got pretty much what I wanted.  I then went to work on another map as a change of pace.  (I do that a lot -- fix something -- leave it for a while -- then come back and reevaluate the results.)

These are a low to medium range of hills surrounding the Cuxhaven harbor.  My main focus was on exactly how they should be landscaped.  I spent a couple of days browsing a lot of CJ entries and finally found inspiration (Eureka !!) in @The British Sausage CJ.  I am very pleased with the appearance -- and next to sand dunes -- this is the hardest landscaping job I've done in a long, long, time.  Many thanks to "British Sausage" for his advice and, most especially, for the landscape "art" in his CJ.

This is an excellent reason why people should post CJ's -- they inspire us all to be better than we are !!

That's a nice minimalist approach! With a good tree controller and terrain mod MMPs aren't required. I have done that sometimes to save on time. That terrain mod had some great grass textures too!

Hi everybody!

I've been fairly busy recently with the Project ZIP efforts which had some intersite effects (more precisely I had to update and bring dependency contents on both sites to the same version), but by now the first phase of Project ZIP (which was related to the dependency packs on LEX) can be called finished. I encourage everybody to visit the SC4Devotion LEX and check the recent updates and new uploads (there are a tons of them):

Because of some of the related cleanup processes, there have been changes on some STEX contents too. The BSC Mega Props DAE vol01 (STEX version), BSC Mega Props SG vol01 (STEX version), LBT Mega Props (STEX version), LBT Mega Textures (STEX version) and the NOB (FTextures) Textures all have been updated and they are on the same version as the contents on the LEX. 
Very IMPORTANT, these updates were only applied on the contents which can be downloaded from Simtropolis STEX and SC4Devotion LEX, so the versions that occasionaly can be found on SimcityKurier/SimcityPlaza (the German site), Toutsimcities (if there is any of these there) and on SimcityCHINA and with the latin contents on CapitalSim or any other sites are the original, old and therefore as of now obsolete versions. 

The PEG MTP SUPER PACK has been updated (and will be in the future at least one more time later) as preparation for a bigger clean-up project on the PLEX files. The former PEG_MTP_SUPER_TEXTURES_PACK.dat have been replaced by the new and almost all-in-one PEG-SUPER_TEXTURES.dat. This new texture file contains all the textures which were released by Pegasus either in dependency packs or with individual contents under multiple uploads, except the SPAM textures. Those stayed and planned to be stay intact for the forseable future. So it is highly recommended players to download the newest V1.5 version of the PEG-MTP Super Pack.

And while @nos.17 is cooking something he started looking for some SimCity Polska contents, which were unavailable since their site went down, so I released (in an updated form) the following two legacy SimCity Polska contents.

should be OK if you use LED lights powered by solar & wind ( mod for low power requirements to simulate this)

Added some solar panels and a drain for rain catchment.  This building will require nothing from your utility systems, but will be more expensive to maintain.

My current progress. I'm currently building on the east and south areas. I have now built/started building 92 large maps (if I counted correctly). This means that 1,472 square kilometers of the region would be built up.

Small/medium-sized coastal towns with marinas are to be built here in the near future.

More high-tech will be created here in the future, following the example of Silicon Valley.


This is Austin. With around 1 million inhabitants, it is to become the third largest city after Aberdeen (9.25 million inhabitants) and Philiadelphia (south of Austin with about 1.5 million inhabitants.

You're gonna need a lot more than that. For starters, more saloons(a 1 saloon town is just sad), a cantina, a sheriff's office and jail, a blacksmith, a livery, corral, boot hill, bunkhouses, general stores, an undertaker, barbershop, Pony Express, hotels, Cattleman's Association, Pinkerton office, assay office, Chinatown tents(all those railroad builders), snake oil sales tents and a lot of houses of various loud colors(cowboys were actually a lot more flamboyant than they are depicted in movies).

Still finding a bit of time to work on the Bremerhaven map. 

My current goal is to integrate some of the wooden sailing ships into the harbor.  The old sailing merchants and clipper ships were still in operation in those days, and even the small coastal luggers were the cheapest way to carry goods.  The world did not out-grow the sailing ships until the end of WW II made vast numbers of war surplus "Liberty" ships available at ridiculously low prices.

Here we see a scene at the old East Wharf outside the Old Basin docks.  A barque and a small brig-rigged coastal lugger are unloading.  I decided on an old brick texture for the wharf since the cobblestone textures looked awful.

At the rear of the basin, the paddle tug "Helena" is making fast to the lumber lighters -- which are to be moved across the river to the dry docks.

On the near side of the basin are another lugger and some empty lighter barges.  If you examine any pictures of harbors from 1900 to 1920 -- you'll find lighters and luggers tied up to every open mooring in every harbor around the world.  They were everywhere!

Making buildings for these now. About halfway there. I just got the NZ ones done and now am working on Australia. Plans after this is to make a set for UK/Ireland, France/Benelux, and Germany/Austria/Switzerland. I love regional gas brands.

One of the last Zapata(Western sub-genre) films. They were popular again, for about 3 years following The Wild Bunch.

Correction- a Mexican Bandito with the worst case of Spanglish...till Al Pacino came along in Scarface. For some reason, they always cast New York actors as Mexicans, and British actors as Romans.
