If you like traffic jams, then sure! :D

**

The usage of the road is 3000 cars, in the morning. It's not that clogged, just well used. I needed that space on the south of the railway because of the highway (and for landscaping :ninja:). I did that too because it looks like a viaduct near my home, it links the two sides of the roads near one of the most used suburban rails in Metropolitan Rio.

Oh yes!

I've added a couple wider shots of the city here. Again photos are clearer if you click on them.

Great Region views, yeah that's Vancouver for sure!   It looks like a lot of work.   As its my home city I could ramble on about it for hours with a million things to say, but as it looks like a work in progress I hope to see more and it would make a great City Journal too.   The city planning for Vancouver is very unique in North America I think, but that's an essay worth of info too, so I'll just say thanks again and it looks great.

Still you must have some annoyed commuters..... It does look good nonetheless!

Sunken railway, Manta:Manta_sunken_railway.png

Hello! I want to give you a couple tips. When you're doing things like urban planning, you have to think in two things: the form and the function. I think you should look with care on the second one. You have the perfect opportunity to work with road hierarchy, a physical barrier. Think about real life, viaducts in the real world are expensive, so viaducts are used only in few cases, that could be in your case, the avenues. This filters your traffic and allow commerce to grow in your avenues, and avoid the side streets. If you follow that, in the future, you'll need less expropriation for widening roads.

Agreed.  I wouldn't be so generous if it weren't for this area being a future commercial district.  *;)

(and with some things, it's just easier to do it at the beginning that to do it later with buildings (and TE roadtop masstransit) all over the place - even if it is at cost of realism while growing)

great concept! Though I feel that those trenches are a bit too deep for their function. What about using L1 (7.5 metres) road overpasses to cross over them, and using that same depth? I guess it will work as right. And if you need more depth on the approach to the port, then you can down gradually.
BTW, for the canal on the right, I guess you are encountering a common issue with the brigdes: they don't allow ferry traffic at 30 metres over sea level, but instead of the curved brigdes, you can raise the approaching roads and avenues on a couple of metres and to get functional passes for ferries. It's a matter of trial and error.

Thanks!

It is a neat concept - an idea which I got from @Urban Constanta 's Bel-Air series. I agree that the depth seems low, but 1) the only two sunken stations I've found were for 15m depth, and 2) (and if I'm mistaken please correct me) the default height difference for networks is 15m - I don't know whether 7.5m would work.

Mattb's station:

Heheh - I kinda like the curved bridges.  I also like the bridges a bit higher than the default required ferry height - and not so much for ferries, either.  I make them higher to serve these PostPanamax puppies *:D :

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Ahhhhhh ... when you put rust onto something in SC4, @Simmer2 ... it's like when others gildning watches. Grunge never looked as good - you ennoble grunge! The water tower looks like it served to support the allies in WW2 and now he's back home and if you put your ears on it ... it tells stories of all the things he saw in his long, long life.

I have to agree absolutely.  @tariely  No need to be overly modest, the gardens and plazas are great works.    BATS/models are the furniture and LOTS/Textures are the carpets and drapes and other decorations/ornaments.  Some members focus on making furniture, some on landscape/interior design, some do everything.   Its all the same great work that makes the community a home.   Now please, can you upload some of these lots?

Wow, I didn't expect that, thanks, she says, blushing (no, really. Parks ? Plazas ? When you see what SM2 showed here not long ago, for instance...

OK, which of the parks do you want first ? I would have to tidy up the deps, but they're more or less ready to go (if someone reminds me how to proceed on the STEX.)

By the way, we also have cookies at Tariely's Little Shop of Relots (and Lots)

So now we get park relots? It's a great time to be a SimCity 4 user. Welcome to the world of lot editing BTW!

I'd say if all the lots are ready to go and mostly share the same deps then maybe package the whole set with one list of deps, that way we get a lot of goodies for the least effort of downloading and installing.

Best practice for uploading to the STEX is using zip format to package everything together and including a readme.txt explaining the files and the deps.  Also include your member/username so others can begin to collect/share/follow your work.   You might get your own groupies/fans *

The upload page is reasonanbly self-explanatory and if you aren't happy with the page or make a boo-boo, you can mostly edit it yourself.  Anything else the mods are usually friendly and helpful.

To start just go to Lots for SC4 and click Upload New File.  I've never experienced a time-out so you can relax and take your time creating the page one step at a time, learning as you go.
