Hi everyone! First off, I am a Mac user, so I don't have access to the terraformer applications and am therefore using the in-game map maker. I've looked on the maps library and have found some very nice regions, but I decided to make my own region to fit all of my wishlist into a single region. My region is 4x3 large tiles, will have a small coast, some rivers and some mountains. I am aiming for a region that is not totally flat, but nonetheless will not have terrain that is difficult to work around. I have the water worked out, that took me ~10 hours to get to a point I am happy with. Now I am going to be working on the mountains and regional contours. That I expect will take a lot longer, but I wanted to post a preview and get some initial thoughts/reactions.

Well I wanted a custom map for my next project. I downloaded the Sakhalin map So I followed the instructions here, and closed everything else I had running: At first, the jpg it told me to save and convert to 256 was the wrong size and it just gave me blank land tiles, so I resized it to the dimensions in the error message: After this, it rendered something that looks nothing like Sakhalin: Does anyone know how to fix this?

Keep Getting Flat Maps in Landscape Designer
AneriphtoKubos posted a topic in Mapping Community Room
I downloaded Landscape Designer and looked at the Help. I created a new terrain and have a .jpg, .png and a config.bmp. The problem is that it always shows up as flat whenever I load it. Here are the 3 files: config.bmp region.ini Thank you!- 2 Replies

Hello I am trying to build a seaport, but he lowers the coast :( In some places it does not lower the coast, and everything's good. It is not clear by what principle this works. In russian community they don’t know what to do about it. How to build a seaport so that it does not lower the coast? Thank you.

Building continuing below the ground level?
Kliekie posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
So recently I started working on a new mod: Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. It's a building on the top of a mountain, looking over the Griffith Park. The front side is normal height on the ground level, but the back of the building goes lower and lower into the mountain, as can be seen on this image: So right now I'm testing the model in game to see what's the best way to get the back part looking like that, I figured with ingame terraforming I could get a lot done. if I make the grid smaller than the actual building terraforming should not be a problem. I do however bumped into an other problem which I just completely forgot. Everything below ground level will have a dirt texture on it. How would you guys solve this problem? Is that dirt texture removable? and is there a way to make sharper mountains, just to make sure no ground will be poking trough the model anywhere? Thank you in advance.- 14 Replies

Tips on dealing with river banks/empty terrain?
sizarieldor posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
So, I developed the economy of my city, which means I could finally make it look pretty with the tons of spare cash on my hands. Then I realized that I don't know of a convenient way of turning the cartoonish, oval river banks into something presentable. I searched here and there, and I found some sea walls for download. I started plopping them, but it looked horrendous. So I was wondering, how do people deal with the extremely uncomfortable terrain of the regions? And if you have any tips for me. -
This may be a dumb question, but what is the ideal terrain height for harbors? Sometimes they look too high or too low, so I'd like to enter the ideal height value in the terraform tool and raise/lower the land on the shore before I place a harbor so it looks right. Thanks.

RECLAMATION ISLAND This island has little space to start out with, but much more land is just under the surface of the water! However, the brains over at Metroburgville University have come up with a soultion: Build a seawall and pump the water out! Besides, they have done the research, and have found vast quantities of natural resources down there. As soon as they tell the stiffs down at city hall, the money will start flowing in! The only mods that are required to play this map are as follows: 1) Any mod that allows the player to use the terrafroming tool durnig gameplay (I use Terraform Tool 0.8); and 2) All 25 spaces unlockable. Technically speaking, the map is completely playable without those mods, but is designed with these two mods in mind. Comments appreciated. -

The Terraform 1000 package is designed to simulate the changes apparent in terraforming a desert world into a habitable environment, a process that may take more than a thousand years. The Terraform 1000 mod is fully compatible with SimMars and SC4. It can also be used in combination with other rock and water mods. There are three different terrain stages in the Terraform package: Terrain 1 – Sandy Desert Terrain 2 – Water Terrain 3 – Green Beaches CREDITS: Thalassicus, timcravey, SimMars Follow us on Facebook ---------- -CB Note: Restored missing description images from the upload package.
