  1. Alexandria Interchange Tour/Update

Hello! I am back after some time away. I've still been playing SC4 as often as I can, just have not had the time I need to post a proper CJ. As I promised, I would start to showcase my newest region of Ottawa, and here is the beginning. This map I found here on ST and is modeled after Ottawa Canada! (I have made a few adjustments from the original to make it work for what I needed.) My central city on this map is named Alexandria! Here is Alexandria after I first started: Satellite View: And here is a current screenshot of the region: Road Map: A lot of changes have taken place! Now the main reason for this CJ! I wanted to give you a tour of the interchanges I have built in this region. Personally I feel that they are my better work compared to my other regions, but I will let you be the judge. Here is the interchanges I will be showcasing this time around. They are numbered in the order they will be shown. Without further interruption, lets begin! #1 Located in Muldrow: #2 Also located in Muldrow. This one is slated for some changes in the near future. #3 I have shown this one already in the Show Us Your Interchanges section here on ST. This is the behemoth located in Pryor. #4 Also slated to be changed and updated. #5 Located in Benson is a massive interchange. This one is fairly new as well, and has been showcased elsewhere. #6 A very compact "T" interchange in Alexandria's downtown region. #7 Also in Alexandria, this interchange was part of a major works project to run the interstate under the river through a tunnel. (more about that project later) #8 Alexandria north of downtown. #9 Alexandria north of downtown: #10 This is one of my busiest interchanges in Alexandria. It has gone through a few rebuilds. Sadly, I did not document those changes. #11 This takes us to Port Walker just East of Alexandria. It is a major industrial port. #12-13 Simple trumpet in Port Walker. I wanted to show off the diagonal diamond, because I have struggled and usually avoid diagonal aspects of RHW, but have been playing around with them lately. #14 Last one for Port Walker. #15 We are now in Douglass and this is the most recent interchange I have built. I call it a split 4 way. #16 We now jump north to Stonewall #17 Englewood Cliffs That sums up every "major" interchange in Ottawa/Alexandria. I know that was a lot of content, but I have been building for a while without really sharing. My next update should hopefully detail individual communities in and around Ottawa. The next area I will be focusing my attention on is circled: I need to connect the ring road to the East of Alexandria and fill in the suburbs. But I have a lot planned, just finding time to do it! Thanks for joining! Always! --CityNut607
  2. This is going to be wicked sick.  Technically this is my first time playing SC4, I bought the game when it first came out but never had time to play and got boxed away in closet. I used to play lot of SimCity 3000 back in the day , and even older versions dating back to the Commodore 64 days. This region is the default region that came with the game with tutorials.  I decided to leave all the boundaries exactly as they are and just play they way the made it. Picture #1 is the whole Kingdom Region and I'm starting off in Aurora.  Just Aurora and not Aurora City A,B,C.  Picture #2 matches with region direction with Hydrogen Power in North West corner. Picture #3 is starting point with small neighborhoods, Main Library City Hall and Court House district. Picture #4 is the Carnival Fair with a nice looking 9 slot space High Density McMansion.  Im going to trick the game and start building more McMansions behind this area, because I have High School, Private School, and Country Club.  Once that is getting populated, I might put the Mayors house North of this Carnival Fair towards the West and get more McMansions. As I was designing this layout, it gave me a 2nd option for a City College and still have options.  I still have more Private schools to figure out, but this is the overall layout for this Aurora town map. The South side of town you will see 2 Farms and they will connect to the farms South below in the South Maps in Region. This is going to take soo long to do.  I'm making sure everything has good ample space and that way everything will connect.
  3. In this series we will take a tour through various european regions and visit several cities. Even though all regions and cities actually exist in real life, this is not meant to be a 100% presentation or reproduction of the actual cities/regions. Rather, i was inspired by details (minor and bigger details or a general theme of a region), took my own approach from there and added my own ideas. Series Teaser

  5. Callahan Megalopolis

The Beginning Of The Megalopolis There's more to come soon. I have to get my old creative flow back and relearn NAM. Any comments of any sort would be appreciated. (The pictures show the beginnings of a city I'm building for practice)
  6. Show us your Ghettos

    Post your ghettos here.
  7. Prague's Old Town

From the album City Showcase (S3-23-M)

Few cities in Europe are as magical and enchanting as Prague, especially in the fall. Horse-drawn carriages make their way through narrow streets filled with beautiful historic architecture, and the Old Town's square is filled with the hustle and bustle of the annual fall farmer's market. This picture required heavy custom content creation. I created an entire texture set for this picture, matching every last detail of Prague's historic old town, in addition to importing plenty of historic Prague buildings into the game. Virtually every building and prop in this picture mirrors the real life version as well - countless pictures were analyzed to ensure the highest level of realism possible in SC4. Full-size resolution version is posted in the comments below.
  8. Moscow City at Night

From the album City Showcase (S3-23-M)

Recreation of the Moscow International Business Center (aka Moscow City) at night. Despite still being in construction, it's still one of the most impressive skylines in Europe (and in the world) with a one of a kind collection of skyscrapers on the banks of the Moskva River. This picture required intensive custom content creation. A massive texture set was created for this scene, by far the largest one that I have created thus far, taking nearly a week of texture work. As the textures for this recreation couldn't possibly fit into the LODs of a single render, I had to divide it up into 8 different sections. This combined with other various buildings, boats, river walls, highway pieces, and other miscellaneous pieces were rendered over the course of a few days. Additionally, since there were many pieces that I could not find anywhere, I tried my hand at BAT as well, creating the highway from scratch as well as the famous Moscow river walls. While there may be some cosmetic touch ups such as some enhanced/added night lights, added ripples, etc in the final image, all the models you see here are in fact in the game. As always, virtually every building and prop in this picture mirrors the real life version as well - countless pictures were analyzed to ensure the highest level of realism possible in SC4. Download links for some of the more prominent buildings in this picture: (basic 3dsmax and gmax knowledge will be needed to import into the game) City of Capitals Federation Tower (in construction) Naberezhnaya Block 1 and Naberezhnaya Block 2 Moscow river boats (The black one was simply a copy of the white one in 3dsmax with a black texture applied) Highway + Moscow walls: As mentioned, custom BAT made by me specifically for this picture. Smaller objects such as the train/helicopter were imported in as well (don't know the link, sorry, but they were heavily modified anyways in 3dsmax before rendering), and the rest can pretty much be found on the STEX or various prop packs. Full-size resolution version is posted in the comments below.
  9. Sydney Panorama

From the album City Showcase (S3-23-M)

Please view the full size resolution link here before casting your vote! The gallery doesn't tend to do mosaics/panoramas a lot of justice. The harbour city in all its glory. You may have seen my Sydney recreation before in my CJ True Earth here, but you've never seen it before like this. I felt like a panorama was the best way to truly capture this amazing city for this final challenge. This panorama showcases the entire center of the city from Hyde Park on the far left to North Sydney on the right, just past the iconic Harbour Bridge. To top things off, I decided to showcase the city in a sunset setting - while Sydney is amazing at all times of the day, I felt like there was just something truly magical about seeing Sydney in the sunset. Additional notes: This scene features countless buildings imported into the game - real, ingame assets, just like any other BAT you would download and use in the game yourself. The bridge and highway system can are completely modular, a picture illustrating this can be seen here. This scene as a whole also required extensive custom content creation. A majority of the buildings had to be custom lotted in addition to making 40-50 custom made Sydney road textures, complete with authentic bus and bike lanes.
  10. From an old City i've never completed

From the album City Showcase (S3-23-M)

I found this photo laying in my simcity 4 albums,so i decided to add it to the showcase challenge.
  11. Hello everybody. I released a new custom lot which is pretty much my first custom lot to actually be good enough to release. If you want to check it out and download it it, go ahead. The link will be below. I also included the Sketchup Model so you can modify and make your own Turning Torso buildings! Here is the link: The Turning Torso If you do decide to download it, I hope you enjoy it!! There is a CO$$$ Version included, but I messed that version up. There is for some reason no jobs in it. So, the landmark version is pretty much the only one that works. And sorry, I don't know how to make growable lots yet, or how to put night lights on buildings. Gmax was actually cooperating with me when I rendered it! A snapshot of the building is the attachment. Again, If you do get it, I hope you enjoy! -VeeTHis
  12. And like the title says I would like to start showcasing people's cities on my YouTube channel. I think it's a great way of sharing ideas, showing your creations to other people, letting others comment and give you tips after seeing your cities in action. You can send my your cities saves by email (perablenta@gmail.com), link files from file hosting websites, links to saves shared on the Steam Workshop, which ever way you like. You can also tell me what things I should pay special attention to or what things you would like to hear helpful ideas about. I have also made this call as a video with instructions on where to find the save files and how to upload them if you do not want to share them publicly on the Workshop.
  13. I spent over 60 hours in Cities: Skylines. Between practice, playing for the purpose of earning achievements, normal Let's Play episode recording (which I might never upload), starting over after crashes and rerecording this episode to get it to record correctly, I did not have much time to really play to enjoy the game but despite working hard on making cities look good and recording videos that look good, I still enjoyed the game. Here is the video: BTW, my city has a population of over 200k and has all the monuments and unique buildings constructed. --Ocram
  14. So... I'm assuming that a lot of SC2013 players have downloaded the 3k Extended Boundary Mod (can be found here if needed: ). I'm also assuming that many of you have created enormous cities , so show them off here! We want to see your massive metropolises! I don't have a picture of mine yet, but I'll have it up here very soon. Get posting! NOTE: For those who do not know how to upload a screenshot; please follow these steps to get your picture in your post. In my opinion, PhotoBucket is the easiest way to do this. So I will provide steps using PhotoBucket. Could someone please provide me with the steps to uploading a screenshot through Imgur? Link to PhotoBucket: https://www.photobucket.com 1. Create an account on PhotoBucket (if you do not have one). 2. There should be an upload button on the page you land on once you have completed the signup process and have signed in to PhotoBucket. Click on that upload button. 3. Choose your picture file and let it upload to your Library. 4. Once that is done, go to your Library and select the screenshot you just uploaded. 5. You'll be taken to a page with a bigger version of your screenshot. Next to that, you'll see links. One of them will be labeled Direct. Copy that link and then close out of PhotoBucket. 6. Go to Simtropolis and begin to make a post in whatever thread your screenshot is needed. 7. Click on the mini picture icon above where you're making your post and paste the link to the picture there. 8. Your picture should appear where you're typing your post and then appear once you publish your post.
