This is a map based off the Indonesian regional capital of Bengkulu. 100% vanilla compatible. Accurate to around 50 meters. Rivers have been slightly exaggerated for gameplay. Large, flat areas allow for large city expansion in the east with large, mountainous terrain for adventurous builders in the west. Area placement for tiles have been carefully calculated to make sure most tiles have rivers and other bodies of water towards the center of the tile. Some tiles break this rule, but all land tiles should still be easy to build on. Two maps available: Barren - For players who want a clean slate or have a slower PC Vegetation - For players wanting trees and have a stronger PC 8x8 large tiles totaling 1024 km2. Large enough for a multiyear or long play region. Below is an image showcasing the tiles: -
Most of the screenshots from this thread are dead. I've attached a screenshot. A very costly lot to bulldoze (5k!). It makes a plopping sound when it spawns in. How do I go about finding the offending lot?

I am making a region that "embraces the grid," I suppose. I am using for my residential neighborhood an improved version of the neighborhood design I described in a post called "new neighborhood design a few years back. In a 2x2 city, I get 4 residential areas, and in a 4x4k city, I get 16 residential areas. The commercial areas surround the residential areas, and the industrial area follows a ring around the entire city. The reward buildings in a 2x2 city are interspersed in the commercial areas (except the churches and private schools which go into the residential areas). The reward buildings in the 4x4 cities are in the blank 10x10 areas, which I will describe more in the next paragraph. Between my neighborhoods, there are 10squarex10square areas between the residential areas. In a 2kx2k city, I get 1 of these, which I use as a "technology center" that has the advanced university, the advanced research center, the advanced medical research center, and the spaceport. In the 4kx4k areas, I get 9 such 10x10 areas, one of which is the "technology center," 3 have the reward buildings, and the remaining 5 currently are just blank. Here is a picture I made in a 2kx2k city which might help visualize what I did: As you can see, in a 2x2 city, there is a 10/10 area in the "middle" that has my "Technology center". I am not certain if you can make out the "civic centers" that I put in the middle of my residential areas. I can't, and I know exactly what I did when I built the city, but they are near the signs that indicate where my residential areas are. In 4x4 cities, there are 9 such areas, 4 of which are filled in as described above, and the remaining 5 are just empty right now. I do not want to zone any of them because even though I have a fairly powerful computer in relation to a 20-yr old game, it still has so much zoning as to slow it down a whole bunch and I just don't want to add any more. These are a few ideas I have for the empty areas: Make an "approximation" to central park. Some of the museums around central park are in the landmarks menu, and I think I found some others in the STEX, and I can put these around the edge of the park. I also found the "Paeng's Free Waters" lake making set and some other mods that I can at least approximate what is contained in the park. Also with the NAM I can put the trails in it, thought they would have to be straight and not meandering like in the real park. I downloaded the mod for making golf courses (PEG, I think) and the Marriot hotel/stadium and could use those to make a sort of sports center. I downloaded a mod (don't remember the name) that plonks down fancier trees than the vanilla game does, and I could just fill one of the areas with trees That would take care of 3 of the areas, and leave 2 remaining. I guess I am looking for some feedback on my ideas, and perhaps some suggestions on what I can do with the remaining 2. Brian Christiansen

I've been working on my first serious city in a new region for 3 weeks now and when I saved it the other day it disappeared. It appears as a blank city tile. I tried importing the city, but it doesn't appear in the folder in game, even though the sc4 file is in the region folder. I'm REALLY hoping this is something that can be fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello, Having blank-titled cities are nice, either the city name, mayor name, or both. This is useful for instance, regions with only one city and you don't need to name the tiles since they obviously belong to just one city. Or as in @CorinaMarie case, the region is controlled by one mayor, so no need to put your name. In the past, you made cities with blank title using dots (@CorinaMarie's method). But now, I going to show you the most elegant way to make a blank-titled city. Fire up your SimCity 4. Plan which cities you want to name them blank. Head to https://www.compart.com/en/unicode/category/Zs. Pick a space that isn't either space or non-breaking space since both are banned in the game. I personally use either en quad or em quad. Copy the space from the page and switch to the game. Open up one of your tile. Assuming your tile is undeveloped, click on the mayor tab and fill out either the city name, mayor name, or both with your selected character. Voila! Your city name, mayor name, or both are now blank. Save your city and leave the region if you wish just to name the city. If you fail, repeat the step 4 with other characters and try again. I hope this tutorial is useful. Thanks.

HELP! One of my region's main cities seems to have become "broken". A number of the buildings, while still there, appear to be showing "blank" or missing details. The year magically reset itself to 1/1/00. While the residential population remains, when I run the simulation, it's as if "nothing" is happening as nothing grows, changes, etc. The advisers all show messages as if it's a new city. Also, on the region view, all of the commercial and industrial jobs have "disappeared", even though the city itself still shows them all there (what's weird is that the residential population still shows on the region view and counts towards my regions population). I fear that my city is broken with no way to restore it, which would really be upsetting to me beyond words (I spent a ton of time working on it). Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, any suggestions for what I can do?

Blank road w no parking?
AmiPolizeiFunk posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Hi modders, I'm wondering if it's possible to make something like the NexT2 blank road but without parking and without stop signs. I'm often making plazas and certain places need road access. I often cover the roads w decals. The next2 "neighborhood street" or whatever it is called is great for this, but it allows parking, which knida ruins the aesthetic of my plazas. Is it possible to make something simple like this with no road markings, no curbs, no props, and no parking?- 10 Replies
