20yearsSC4 SC4: 2023 (20th Anniversary)
Langbardr replied to SIM-ple Jack's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Thanks to this dedicated community for being still there after 20 years, and also to the content creators of the modding scene, you guys have done so much for this game it's hard to believe. I still have irrational hopes about maybe an official remaster of the game (if one game deserve it, it's SC4), I just want a modern UI, integration of today's technologies, and better mod support. Is it too much to ask EA? But maybe that too will come from the community, the SC4 Open Source sounds promising for the future of the game. So I guess let's go for another 20 years!- 46 Replies

simcity 4 Sharing Plugins Folders - Discussion
Langbardr replied to Haljackey's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Well, I was just mentioning that, beside managing custom content, long launch time was part of why I refrain to play. I did not mean that the matter discussed here could provide a solution to it. But I'm saddened to hear that datpacking can not do much better than a SSD, as I already use one. -

Yeah I know about datpacking. I really should do it one day. But that's just another step that keep me from playing... -

I don't play SC4 at the moment, but I think about it pretty much every day, wanting to dive back in. But every time I remember that it takes five minutes to launch my game, I think about how messy my mod folder is, and how painful it is to organize, to look for, and to install them. And it turns off my will to play. So I'm glad that this thread exists, and I sincerely hope it leads to something concrete. I can't be of any help, but I wanted to show my support and thank every person for their current and future efforts in this matter. -
Content that actually affects the gameplay
Langbardr replied to Langbardr's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Wow, now that's a lot! Thanks you guys. However I see many mods/fix that interact with RCI, and it's kinda hard to tell if they are CAMpatible or not. Oh cool! Thanks. It would be nice to have a mention and a link of this version in the original mod page. -

Thank you guys, I'm kinda surprised because I spend some time searching mods, but I've never knew about those you mention. Some great addition there. Really? I did read about CAM and install it carefully by following the steps, but I did not know additional content was needed. Like what for example ? -
Hi there, I'm fairly new to the game, started a couple of months ago and fell right into it. I'm actually filling my plugins folder and I'm looking for all the mods that actually enhance the gameplay, that adds some depths to the different parts of the gameplay. Most of the content of the exchange sites are about cosmetics, building variation, realism purpose, etc so it's pretty hard to a newbie like me to figure what are the content that actually affect the gameplay. So far : NAM CAM AC Functionnal Airports BSC Functionnal Seaports SPAM AMPS Industrial Revolution Mod (>CAMpatible version<) It can be indirect, like making the game more satisfying/enjoyable : God Terraforming in Mayor Mode Extra Cheats Plugin A slope mod Cori's NKO Cori's Parks Aura And of course all the fixes : SC4Fix.dll, OperaHouse, Crimedoestpay, I-HT fix, Jobs multiplier. Can you guys help me to complete this list ?
