  1. Can't get tiles to zone.

First, I should correct myself. I didn't mean to say "triangle". I meant that whole triangular shaped section of lots in between all the roads. But it doesn't matter anymore. I figured out how to fix it. After totally blasting everything out of that section of the city and dezoning it all, as well as removing power, water, and a subway line, it STILL would not zone for me. Then I conducted one final test by raising the land a little bit over that area. I then proceeded to try and lay out the commercial zones, and it finally filled in. I then flattened it back out and tried again, and the problem was solved. I don't know why that would have had anything to do with it, but apparently it did.
  2. Since I myself had to open this thread to seek answers for a question about road access, I'm not going to place any stamp of authority upon what I'm about to say...however, in thinking about how a fire can break out on a power plant lot, it might make sense for them to have road access so that the fire department can respond and extinguish it. Edit: OUCH...sorry for the double post. I forgot I could multi-quote.
  3. Yes; again, don't look at the road itself (it's just a texture) but the tile on which it's located. Notice that the tile containing the corner of each building shares a full side with a tile containing a piece of the road (although in this case, not the intersection itself). You can even see in your picture that the tiles around the places where the roads and buildings share a common boundary is a slightly different color than the background. Oooooh....I totally understand what you're saying. Yes, I see that - and it makes complete sense to me now. Gee, I can't believe I never considered that before. Thanks SO much for helping me. I really appreciate it.
  4. Okay, for the sake of clarification, this is what I'm talking about: Will these buildings function in this configuration? Are they considered as having road access, even though the lots are positioned at a 45° angle to the roads?
  5. If I understand correctly, wealthy sims like to drive and rarely take mass transit. So you could try removing roads from your ghetto areas and build only subways, bus stops and light rail in the poor neighborhoods.
  6. SC4 Computer Switch-over

A Nonny Moose already told you about the -cpucount:1 target command line parameter, but I'd also like to add that you will probably want to run the game in Windows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility mode, as well as consider using software rendering instead of hardware. I don't quite understand why, but more RAM and an upgraded OS don't always equal smoother operation for the game. So if you encounter any lag after reinstalling to your laptop, give those suggestions a try.
  7. SimCoug Lots Vol01 of JMyers Homes Vol01

@SimCoug - that would be great! Either way, I look forward to Vol 2.
  8. Missing dat File

The jes_sugarwarehouseprops.dat file is included in the Sugar Warehouse download that 7238320 referred you to. If you don't need the rest of the dependencies, you don't have to use them - but at least the file you're looking for is included in that download. Hope that helps. BTW - I've downloaded all the dependencies I need for a particular lot, and I'm still getting a brown box on it, too. So I understand the frustration.
  9. SimCoug Lots Vol01 of JMyers Homes Vol01

I love these! I have an unusual request, and I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this - but would it be possible for you to make another set of these into commercial lots that come with jobs? I've been wanting to recreate a particular small town in which the old homes have been converted into small businesses, such as boutiques, galleries, and coffee shops - and these would be perfect for that endeavor.
  10. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Here is one, don't know where the others are. Yep...already got that one. Thanks for responding - I appreciate it. I'm not sure if what I'm actually looking for exists, so files like that certainly do help.
  11. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Anyone know where I could find a collection of commercial buildings that look like residential houses? I live in a small city, and a lot of our older homes have been converted into small businesses, doctors offices, boutiques, antique shops, galleries, etc. I'd like to recreate that sort of neighborhood.
  12. You know, this really makes me question how much I can trust the downloads here are Simtropolis. I realize I just joined the community a few days back, but I'm not amused about this. I don't normally read comments, but because it was only rated as 3 stars, I chose to this time....and I'm glad I did, because that's the only way I found out this was a huge April Fool's joke. Honestly, maybe it's funny to all the people who have been here a long time...but for someone like me who just came here, it's not. I've been wasting my time looking for dependencies, and almost downloaded this. Now I feel the need to check all the previous files I've downloaded to be sure they are legit, and not jokes - or worse, possible spyware/viruses. Instead of allowing this to remain and look like a real download, perhaps the admins of this website could remove it. Joke's over. It's October now - not April.
  13. Running slow on faster laptop

Hello, topleya222. I absolutely concur with everything A Nonny Moose said. I understand what you're going through with the game right now, because I experienced the same exact lag. The three things I did to make my game run faster were: 1. I used the -cpucount:1 target command line parameter 2. I right clicked on the desktop icon and set the game to run in Windows XP (Service pack 2) compatibility mode. 3. I adjusted the game settings to use software rendering instead of hardware. After taking those three simple steps, I no longer experienced any lag. Hope that helps. Good luck!
