Anyone know why this is happening (missing parking lot textures...red circled areas)? It's the I have all the required dependencies, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

What is the reputation point system for, and how does it work? I'm really curious, because I have over 560 posts now, but only 60 rep points. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not whining and I'm not jealous or anything like that. But I've noticed there are some members who joined the site after me, who have fewer posts than I do, but they have a lot more rep points than me. At first I was thinking to myself "Well, just post more helpful comments and people will start repping me more". But I do post what I consider to be helpful comments, and yet my rep points remain relatively low. So I checked the profiles of some members who haven't been here long, and looked at all the posts they've made, and the number of rep points they've actually received are not matching up to the total that shows under their avatars. And today, I looked up the profile of someone who has only made 6 posts the entire time they've been here, yet they have 60 rep points! However, when I looked up those 6 posts they've made, they've only received a total of 2 rep points. So how come there is such a huge discrepancy there?

Have you guys recently capped the speed at which we can download custom content from the STEX?

I'm not sure why this is happening. Last night I uninstalled the game, and this evening I reinstalled it, along with the NAM and other relevant mods, plugins, and regions from my backup copies. Everything is exactly the same as it was before I uninstalled it last night. The only difference is that my previous version of the game was 1.1.638, and this time I chose to go ahead and install the update to bring the game up to version 1.1.640. The final thing I wanted to do before restarting the game was to add the CustomResolution:enabled parameter to the Target line in my game shortcut. I have a flat panel LCD monitor set to a resolution of 1600x900, because the aspect ratio for my monitor is 16:9, and that's what looks the best. Therefore, the resolution I have always had in my Target line is -r1600x900x32 It has always worked. Never had one problem....until now. For some reason now it won't work. What am I doing wrong? EDIT: I can't even set the resolution within the game settings. I've tried Hardware rendering, Software rendering, 1600x1200, 1280x1024, 1024x768.....nothing is working. When I change to each one of those resolutions, exit the game, then restart, it shows up as being changed. The little dot shows up next to the resolution I've set in the control panel....but the resolution stays the same. I don't get it. This couldn't possibly have anything to do with the update I installed, could it?

A quick side-note about poor grammar... This is a true story. About 9 years ago I worked with a girl who had just graduated high school. While talking to her one day, I asked if she had plans to attend college. She said yes, and I asked her what she wanted to major in. She said "English", and told me she wanted to be a high-school English teacher. I thought it was fantastic! I said to her "I bet you speak gooder English than I", to which she replied "That's okay, I'll learn you how to talk it right."

- I don't use Facebook anymore, so I deleted my account a while back. I used to like MySpace a lot. But no one I knew wanted to use it because they thought Facebook was better (an opinion I did not, and still do not, share). I was told the only way I would be able to stay updated about what was going on in anyone's lives was if I signed up for Facebook. I did it reluctantly, and quickly found out how much I disliked it. Plus, very few people communicated with me much after signing up, despite being led to believe that would be the only way I'd stay updated on their lives. - I'm actually thinking about signing up for Pinterest. - Should forums like Simtropolis be considered social networks? Well, you already have social interaction here...and people can post photos of themselves, or info about their lives in their profile pages here. But since this is a website with such a narrow focus, I don't think it could be considered a true social network. - Are social networks the main reason for poor grammar? I don't think social networks have anything to do with it. But I do believe texting is one of the primary reasons why spelling and grammar are in such a sorry state these days.

The problem has been resolved. I completely uninstalled the game again this evening. I made sure to delete everything game-related, and cleared out the relevant registry keys. Then I reinstalled the game. This time I only applied the patch to take the game from version 1.1.610 to 1.1.638. Last night, during my first reinstall, I had applied another patch, too. It said "SKU1_to_P2", and there was a note accompanying it that said I was supposed to apply it first...? I had downloaded it a number of years ago, but I'm not sure why I put that notation with it, so I skipped it this time. I went straight for the SKU1_TO_P1_B638 patch. After that, I added the patch to take it up to version 1.1.640. THEN....I installed the SC4Launcher by Vitimus. After adjusting the settings accordingly in the Launcher, I started the game. It worked! My resolution is back to 1600x900. Thanks for the input, and suggestions.

Overblown brouhaha?? You're not serious...? What is it like to live in a country (under America's nuclear/military umbrella, I might add) that doesn't have to worry about fending off terrorist attacks? And what's this about the 9/11 "debacle"...? Did you lose anyone close to you on 9/11? Do you know anyone who was affected by the Boston bombings? Why don't you contact the families of the victims...and not just the ones who were killed, but also the nearly 200 who were injured (ie. lost legs, arms, feet, hands)...and tell them you think the "brouhaha" over the Boston bombings was overblown. And no, I'm not being "moody" when I write this, nor do I need a "thick skin". I'm actually quite insulted.

Now that I have the answers to my other questions about reinstalling the game, I have another one: A while back I was feeling a little bold and wanted to have a little fun watching skyscrapers pop up in my little sleepy riverside small town. So I decided to do something I said I'd never do...I downloaded a plugin which affected my RCI demand. It's called - and at first I was really having fun with it, watching residential towers soar out of the ground and commercial zones quickly fill up with high-wealth boutiques and office buildings. But then I decided I'd had enough fun and wanted to resume normal gameplay so I could watch my city grow naturally by keeping an eye on the RCI graph and adding zones according to the appropriate demand. BUT...... After I demolished the pretty little Plopmatic tree lot, and removed the plugin from my Plugins folder, my demand for each type of zone remained high. Since then I've been constantly having one residential tower after another spring up...same with my commercial and industrial buildings. In short, my demand is all screwed up and I'm not sure how to fix this....or if it even can be fixed. I know, I know....I'm an idiot and I never should have messed around with it. If you need to lecture me, that's fine...I deserve it. But can you also tell me what I have to do to get normal demand back in my city? My greater fear is whether this has affected my entire region. Do I have to scrap the entire region, or just the city?

Are you sure your game is updated to at least version 1.1.638...? If not, the custom content won't work. As for removing the content you no longer want, you simply pull it out of the Plugins folder. But you need to make sure you know which one is the correct file to remove. Also, if you pull it out of your Plugins, you'll get a notice in your game telling you certain plugins are missing, and you'll again see brown boxes. So be sure to remove the custom content from your city first before you pull the file out of your Plugins folder.

Oh, it's a regular day at the amusement park. Somehow or another I'll figure out the other issue.

As others said, it's the standard Avenue that comes with Rush Hour. It's right there in your transit menu under the roads submenu. As for the sidewalks, there are a number of sidewalk mods you can download. Search for "sidewalks" in the STEX.

It worked then, so I'm not sure why it isn't working now. I'll take another deep breath and work on it this afternoon. Thanks for the input. And on top of that you could try to use prog like CCleaner to remove old registry keys; before fresh installation. Oh, I use CCleaner all the time. WONDERFUL little program! I've used it for a number of years now. Yep...tried running the Registry cleaner, and it's still not working.

Because I'm weird like that. In all seriousness, though....yes, I was having an issue with the game. It probably could have been resolved, but I'm OCD when it comes to having things run smoothly. Late last week I tried installing the update/patch to bring my game up to version 1.1.640......but it didn't take. I'm not sure why or what I did wrong - but after I applied the patch, the game version still showed up as 1.1.638 when I hovered my mouse over the Simcity 4.exe file. I even checked the game in night mode, and the lighting still didn't show up after running the game for several Sim years. So that, along with my desire to overhaul my Plugins folder, simply compelled me to uninstall the entire game and start over. No. Yep. I typed it exactly as follows: CustomResolution:enabled -r1600x900x32 -intro:off -CPUCount:1 I feel comfortable saying no, because I don't know what a launcher is. Should I be using one? If so, can you point me to one. Disc. I even went through my registry to make sure there were no traces of "Maxis" or "Electronic Arts" left. Although I'm not a pro, I do feel comfortable working with the registry. I've been doing it for years. I didn't delete anything that should have remained for the rest of my system to operate correctly, but I also made sure I removed the relevant traces of the game. But maybe there was something I missed...? I could try to restore it to a time before I installed the game on my system last year. A new location...? I downloaded it from SC4Devotion. Is there another place I could download it from? Yep, I made sure to do that, too. I can try that to see if it works, but I'm not certain what the Plugins would have to do with it. Thanks, my friend. I presume I can have DirectX 9 at the same time I have DirectX 11...? My computer came with version 11, and I don't know if I need it for other things on my system.

SC4 Terraformer A question about that before I download it: It says it's for WinXP only, but I've heard people have been able to use it with Windows 7...? Is that true? If so, is there a way to make it work with Win7?

Eh, I already uninstalled it last night, so now I need to reinstall this afternoon. But it's alright. I had other reasons for doing it anyway.

@KonstantinII - I'm going to agree with Nonny. It wasn't my intention to play continuously with a demand mod installed. I was only doing it for a little while to have fun, because I was curious to see some skyscrapers grow. But after I removed it, my game was totally screwed up....or at least the city was in which I used it. As I said in my edit above, I've completely wiped every single industrial zone out of my small town....and I STILL have demand through the roof, and I don't have any unemployment at all. I have absolutely no idea what needs to be zoned and what doesn't. So I've wiped out the city, and even uninstalled the entire game so I can reinstall it. That probably sounds a little drastic, but I need to redo some things anyway.

Okay, I'll try that and see what happens. If it doesn't normalize, is there any way to "remove" the city from the region and start a new one there? I mean, I know you can obliterate it...but would that take care of the problem if the demand doesn't return to normal? EDIT: Well, I let it run on Cheetah for about 75 years, and the demand seems to fluctuate up and down more now, but my commercial demand is still maxing out. The only thing that has dropped considerably is my residential demand, and my I-D demand. Everything else is sky high. You know, the weird thing is, I played around with it a bit and demolished every single industrial zone I had....nothing left. And I still didn't get any no-job zots!! Something's definitely whacked out with this town. I may just obiterate it, or replace the .sc4 file with an older copy from a previously backed up Regions folder.

I was just curious. If you use the God-mode, and select a smaller radius, you might end up with a bit more diversity. But it looks good.

Well, to be honest, it would be hard for me to address your post because I'm a devout Christian, and as such I don't consider the Quran to be authoritative. The fundamental differences in our beliefs would make it very difficult for me to contribute to this thread. But I'm sure others will chime in.
