news Important Information: Network Extension 3 and Harmony (redesigned)
simsample posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
News has arrived that a coder using the Steam Workshop has been spreading malware via the Cities Skylines game. So far the effect has been to slow users' games and prevent certain users from downloading the mods, however the implications of this discovery are far more wide reaching. News article here about how this user has been banned by Valve: https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/valve-bans-cities-skylines-modder-after-discovery-of-major-malware-risk-3159709 Full information about infected mods and what to do on reddit here:-

Mods are gone after each session
simsample replied to R3V0's topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
It sounds like Steam isn't writing the files to disk correctly. Where do you have your game installed to? Check your install location to see if the workshop files are being installed. This will be [Install Location]\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content for the large part, although some mods may install library files elsewhere too.- 1 Reply

I like how the cims ride their bicycles down the steps into the subway... For some reason, this Fiat 500 levitated through my stadium and ended up embedded in a building.

I'm making a forestry area... Lots of birdsong in that neighbourhood!

I like to see the city at street level, using a first person camera. Lots of detail to see!

This looks very interesting! I especially like your world map- keeping track of all the cities you built over the years is a lovely idea.

You must have buildings in the theme for both the size and zone type you are using for buildings to spawn. For example, I am using an 'American Trailer' theme, which has houses of 2X1, 2X2 and 3X3 in it. I've noticed that if I zone commercial within that district, no buildings grow because there are no commercial buildings in that theme. Likewise, no 1X1 trailers grow, because there are no 1X1 trailer models within the theme. So you might need to check whether the neo theme contains commercial buildings, and also what size the buildings in that theme are.

Looking good, I'm interested to see how this develops!

Someone parked a DeLorean through a speed sign. Why is it that my cims always die on community lots? (I love the detail on the petrol pumps, though!)

This thread has given me so many ideas! My city was at gridlock in one area so I had to build some better intersections. I'm not too good at this, and had been putting it off for a cim decade! But my RCI had gone to zero and my city was becoming abandoned. Trouble is, the region is very hilly and building roads on the uneven terrain is tricky. It looks a mess and still has some traffic jams, but at least the traffic moves now! I managed to fit it in without demolishing too much of the surrounding buildings. My commercial demand rose, and after a few more years I had residential and industrial demand back, too. I think I'd still like to make it more efficient, so any tips would really help. I could perhaps use tunnels to make it look nicer, but not sure how to increase road capacity as the terrain (lots of hills and islands) doesn't really make it possible to have highways.

You can see a visiting cim inside the observatory on that last shot!

What? You don't have bearded ladies? You're missing out...

@Kingofsimcity: Nice picture! I take it that your city's wealth must come from oil, judging by all of the tankers on the road. Beautiful picture! My skyline is not very tall, and mostly vanilla assets, too. But I'm kinda pleased with it so far!

It's looking lovely, Ln X! The city looks especially pretty from the top of the hill. Bwahaha! For some reason, this really tickled me.- 324 Replies
