  1. Show us What you're Working On

A new entry for my CJ, this time introducing Fairview's finest, is coming soon.
  2. I'm so old that ...

I'm so old, I remember my grandparents had this kind of TV. Fortunately I was used to the remote control
  3. San Martin - Bromelia, Magnolia and Centro

    Very nice city. Well done
  4. Show us what you are working on in SimCity 3000!

A modular marina with a helipad. Obviously not ready yet. Need to find a less silly water paint and make the helipad, and maybe even add a lounge room and a lighthouse.
  5. @Honolulu: A mod that would simulate a piezoelectric system by allowing roads to produce some energy depending on the traffic they hold could be very helpful. The more traffic you have, the more power you can generate
  6. 2. Riu d'Oms: from rural outskirts to city center

    Very beautiful. Well done!
  7. Show us your Camera Angles

    I love this mod

Just build a second station. Or, just tell your Sims to cross the rails. What could possible go wrong?
  9. Show us what you are working on in SimCity 3000!

One thing that always bothered me a bit in SC3K was the fact that, just like in classic SimCity and in SC2K, you can't change the orientation of the buildings. Unlike SC4, you can't rotate and turn the buildings as you wish in order to get a realistic-looking result, even if they'll still work just fine no matter what. A good example is the train station. As you can see, its platform is at the south-east side of the building and the access ramps and stairs are at the north-west side. So, if you wish to get a more realistic-looking result, you picked the wrong game because SC3K burns realism to the ground and throws its ashes to the nearest trash can! Heck yeah!! Oh, sorry for that. Let's go back to the topic As I said, if you wand a more realistic-looking train station in SC3K, you might want to build the rails at the south-east side of the station and the road at the north-west side. However, no matter the orientation and the direction of the rail, the train station will still function just fine. The configuration of the transit system surrounding the train station doesn't affect its job and its efficiency at all. The "problem" is just aesthetics. Nothing else. However I decided to make a little experiment. How about a train station with its ramps and platforms in all sides? This is the result. This experimental train station has its platforms and access ramps and stairs in all 4 sides, so Sims can hop on/off the trains in any orientation. Well, they can do it in the Maxis train station too, but here you can "see" it a little better. It also comes with clocks, benches, and tents to protect your Sims from the rain. And with solar panels, a green roof, and nanotech glasses. Sorry, I couldn't resist This is just an experiment. The real deal will be with the civic infrastructures, such as the police station and the school. Can we make them look cool and realistic, no matter where and how we place them? I think yes, and I have an idea how to do it. More soon

The last time I've had played SimCity 3000 (which was my very first SC game, by the way) was almost 20 years ago. As soon as I got SimCity 4 at my hands in 2008, SC3K became a memory for me. A memory made by beautiful moments full of fun and experimentation. In fact, it was both playing SimCity 3000 and my university studies as an environmental engineer that led me to discover The Venus Project and Jacque Fresco's ideas about a Resource-Based Economy and Sociocyberneering back in 2005. No joke. Now it's high time to bring back those memories and have some old-school fun. Don't worry, though. I'm not gonna abandon SimCity 4 and my Welcome to Fairview CJ. Back then I also used to download buildings from sites such as Gemika's Reality and make my own too. My buildings were simple designed and as terrible as you can imagine. Terring's Terrible Buildings, SC3K edition . Fortunately I don't have them anymore. Trust me, you don't want to see them. They're that bad. But now it's time to make better buildings (I hope). First stop, parks. I made a set of custom parks to replace the in-game ones, designed to be mixed together in a way that would allow you to form virtual paths and sidewalks, and create epic zones of green and relaxation areas. So what we have in this upload are: Small park: Comes with a big tree in the middle and some benches for your Sims to take a rest at the tree's shadow. Big park: Comes with more trees and benches, and also with a central clearing for picnics, small gathers, local events, stargazing, yoga sessions etc. Fountain: Actually a big fountain with 4 smaller ones. Uses custom textures and props made by Night Angel, which can be found at Gemika's Reality site above. Just search for the 5x5 Stardust Casino&Hotel New Mille to get them. Pond: A simple (maybe too simple) pond with a pier to allow your Sims to feed the ducks closer and safer, and with a green fence surrounding it to protect the ducks from city hazards, such as cars and aggressive dogs. By the way, both the pond and the fountain use props (the green fence) that are available here. Playground: Comes with a central kiosk for parents to take a rest and watch their kids playing around and burning some ice cream calories. Installation is simple. Just pick the .zip file and unzip all the .bld files at the GOG Games\SimCity 3000 Unlimited\Buildings folder. Yes, I have the GOG version and not the Steam one, so installation may be different in Steam version. Then it's up to you to use the parks however you please. Have fun

One of my favorite mods is the Diagonal Intersection RoadTop SubwayBus Station (also known as MTRT) made by @uroncha back in 2005. It's a set of bus stops and subway stations that can be placed on top of streets, roads, one-ways and avenues, just like Road-Top Mass-Transit (RTMT). What I enjoy the most in MTRT, however, is that it also includes bus stops and subway stations that can be build on top of T and X intersections as well, which is very convenient for me. Why building bus stops and subway stations next to crossroads, when you can build them on the crossroads themselves? My only complain was that MTRT includes Subway-Bus stations for roads, one-ways and avenues, but not for streets. If RTMT comes with subway and sub/bus stations for streets, why not MTRT too? So, I decided to make 4 new lots as a little add-on for MTRT to include road-top sub/bus stations for both straight and diagonal streets, as well as for tee and cross intersections. Since I'm a lotter and not a modder, I didn't change any aspect of the sub/bus stations, such as the name and the capacity of 15,000 passengers. I'm just too lazy for that . All I had to do was to open the Lot Editor, pick the street bus stops and replaced them with the sub/bus stations. That's all. So, don't be surprised if you see that the game will still call them "road sub/bus stations" even if you can build them on the streets. Sorry for that . However, I can recommend you using MTRT Sub/Bus Street Addon - Rebalanced made by @MiniMe943, which fixes the names in the UI and re-balances the capacity values Installation is very simple. First, download the Diagonal & Intersection RoadTop Subway-Bus Station (link above) and install it to "My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins" folder. Second, download and install my add-on, preferably inside the MTRT-V1 folder for convenience. Third, have fun
